Wooo, okay! My next day off-off is Thursday, so I'm gonna try to wrap everything up on my end by then and do some final sheet checks Thursday-Friday? Maybe get a game thread up Saturday?

Since we've got so many casters, how does everyone feel about this idea? I'm thinking it'll act as a free feat? Possibly part of a feat tree if you all like it enough? Am I making things unnecessarily complicated? Quote:

I like the ritual nature of this magic, trading time for "spell slots". Is one minute long enough?

I'm fine with the ritual casting, although 1 min for a lot of cantrips doesn't seem like much of a trade off since there aren't a lot of them you need in a pinch. On you either way though.

I dunno, ten minutes for a few cantrips seemed excessive - really the time is only there to make them inconvenient in combat or if you're running away, right? We could say 1d4 minutes - like, maybe it doesn't always go smooth? And then ten minutes for Identify is a decent chunk I figure. Or five minutes for Unreliable Identify. ![]()

We're in pretty good shape so far - I am delighted by the depth and curiosity of your characters, and excited to see where this goes! Got roped into work today after all, but only for a short shift, so hopefully I'll finish some reading today and tack up my murderboard tomorrow before a tattoo appointment. Right on schedule to try posting the game thread Saturday! ![]()

Just a heads up, I am traveling overseas Friday and won't have any internet until Sunday, so my first post will be late.

No worries! I expect posting to be a bit slower for this game, so a few days isn't particularly late by any stretch. Hopefully we can find that sweet spot between decent in-game momentum and actually having lives which prevent us from checking the site every twenty minutes. I tried to run a game here, years ago, and in the eight hours I slept between getting home from work and getting up for work the next morning, there were twenty-three new posts. I know I should have been happy that my players were excited to interact, but three of them had left the other two behind, and they all had completely ignored basic setting information in their introduction, spinning out into this weird tangent I didn't know what to do with at all. I was younger and stretched even thinner than these days, and I just...didn't know what to do, and it died there. Since then, I like games where everyone gets more like 1-2 posts per week in - they tend to be the types of players who actually read and sometimes re-read each others posts, and have time to chat in OOC about motivations or frustrations or clarifications - and time to think about the next post instead of reacting on a moment's impulse because they can. And nobody gets left behind if they have a busy week.

Good rule of thumb for pbp is two player or one DM post before you post again as a PC.

Sorry for the delay! I ended up writing a thing about El Paso today, and then I needed to detox by binging the entire new season of She-Ra... ANYROAD. Sheets are coming along nicely enough - I have another day off Monday so we'll probably post a game thread then and Hugh won't have to worry at all about keeping up. Hope everyone is well...and for whatever it's worth, happy belated Esther Day. <3

Ack, sorry everyone sorry! Had a pretty big IRL hiccup this week - roommate/former partner leaving, which honestly is kind of a relief, but also big fight about the cats and finances and other garbage that's been taking up wayyy more of my non-work time than I would've preferred. We will get this thing rolling ASAP; just maybe take the extra minute to do a quick last check on sheets and ask me any other questions, I'll wrap everything up and get us going, I promise!
