[OOC] The Stands

Story time:

One of the scenes that gave me some inspiration for this game was a training session between my NPC and one of my players, a half-orc fighter.

The NPC was the teenage Justiciar of the town, ordained before her time due to the sudden and unexpected death of the previous Justiciar (At the hands of said Half-Orc, but she wasn't to know that). What this amounted to is that this first level Cavalier had spontaneously, by magical means, recieved all three levels of Justiciar.

So they were training, unarmoured and armed only with quarterstaves and she spins the staff in her hands, then drops it when she realises she wasn't able to do that yesterday. (Having been spontaneously granted +3 BAB)

But I have to say 20th level characters require a TON of book keeping... I need to make sure that all of my abilities / items / feats are all incorporated into my sheet (which they aren't) and I need a list of what they all do.

I've actually found that for higher level characters a stat block makes keeping track of those abilities easier than a character sheet. As you may have noticed with my Poison, Politics and Polearms characters. (The exception is skills, having something count up my skills automatically is SOOO much more useful)

High level characters really require a lot of organization yeah. It does take some getting used to. I helped some people back in the day (on these boards) with their high level characters so feel free to ask any questions!

I'm playing a long ranged attacking build - Archery and all that. Time means that he can play support too and lock down enemies.

As for the money ...solid gold underwear.

More seriously there are a couple of items (other than stat boosters) that you can't go too wrong with if you have the slot free.

Eyes of the eagle and Seducers bane come to mind. Hat's of disguise are fun though at this level you shouldn't be shaking anybodies hand and hoping DC 11 will cover it. Maybe a cheap returning javelin could be crafted with your discount to bring it in under cost.

Haha... Truth be told, I purchased everything full price... Should I go back and assume that I crafted everything on my character, with the appropriate discounts?

Also you can get Swarmbane Clasp if you don't have easy access to AoE damage. But you mentioned Fire so actually you should be covered.

By the way someone should cover the major Knowledge checks for monsters.

Not only because it would be hilarious in character (Oh yeah that thing? I totally know what that is....wait...why?)

But also because otherwise our characters would have totally no idea what we're doing and that would definitely be a bad thing

The point was that he used it to get to level 20, so I wasn't thinking to make the weapons he now has crafted by him... Well one specific one I was thinking that, but still forgot to make it be cheaper ... I don't have an AoE fire, so thanks... I also have the knowledge checks down, I'm the skill monkey, as well as the tank... Or at least the guy with a lot of armor.

Also I'm not sure if you craft at 85% of 50% of the normal cost of the weapon or 85%

I think it should be the first obviously, because normal crafting is the second.

I says that when I craft, my material components cost 85% of normal... so it's 85% of the 50% standard.

Yeah that makes sense. That's not that big of a discount anyway. Crunching the math, apparently you get 42.5%

Im just about done with mine, got just over 900 left in spending money if I did all my math right. Still finagling a little with skills, and I need to pick a good familiar. Parrot is a classic, but that just sounds kind of cheesy...
