[Game Thread] The Waiting Room

Jack climbed to the top of the unnaturally smooth hill and whistled. "Wow," he said as he looked out at the view. "Laura! Elizabeth! Guys! Look at this view!" Jack said with a huge smile on his face. Once again he was the young and naive kid, the person who hadn't even been outside of his town again. Turning back to face the forests, he took in a deep breath of fresh air. The minty taste of the air tingled his noise but he could only smile and and laugh. "This is actually quite amazing," he said with a simple contented sigh. "If only I was here on real vacation and not some kind of twisted capture...."

Rubbing the back of his head, he turned to Jeremy. "This is way bigger than any normal island. How far is the sea exactly? And is there actually anyone else here?" he said as he tried looking around for any signs of other people. Hopefully next time they wouldn't be so quick and eager to come to blows.

Thinking heavy thoughts, Humility slowly starts to come back to land. "You are right Jack" she says, putting a bit of emphesis on the name to help her remember it. "This is a beautiful place. But this hill.. it is not normal. Jeremy... what do you know about the hill we are on? "

She walks around, keeping her distance from the still elementals. "I guess if there are ships, there must be towns somewhere. But why are we here?" she adds, to nobody in particular.

"I don't really know, and I don't really care. All I know is, I want to go home..." Laura grumbled, rubbing her forehead. With a deep breath, she slid her pistol into her belt and turned to her maid, who herself was looking out over the view.

"Hmm...if there is a river...perhaps it runs into the sea, Mi'lady?" Elizabeth thought outloud, Knowledge: Geography check.

Jack smiled at Humility, wondering why she was stressing his name when she talked to him. Raising an eyebrow, he looked around and noticed that the hill did seem out of place. "Perhaps the Summoner shaped the landscape in order to make it easier to summon other entities, Humility" he said as he looked at her with a smile. More than anything, he probably thought it was nothing but another strange game that Humility was playing.

Looking back to the river, Jack wondered if Elizabeth was right. If they were both pirates, it was possible that they would know things about seas and rivers and such. And despite all of the skills that he had seemingly picked up, geography was definitely not one of them. He wondered exactly how large the island would have to be if they couldn't even see the edges from this high up.

"Well the major problem is getting there," Jack said as he scratched his chin. "This is bound to be a big place. Are we just going to walk around? Even if we follow that river, it definitely stretches way beyond where we can see. I don't know if I like those odds."

With a beeming smile, Humility nods at Jack. "He seemed quite powerful... but this is a very big hill. Do you really think he made it?"

Bobbing up and down in the air, Humility gives a little giggle. "You know this is kind of fun." the cat appears unconvinced and issues a sad sounding "Meooooowwww"

"Really? do you think so?"

Humility floats back towards the rest of the group. "Sin thinks with a bit of practise he could probably work this trick for everyone. But it would be very tiring. On the plus side, He thinks it would help with catching birds. Sin!" she directs a very stern frown at the cat.
"It would certainly help with any travel we had to engage in. But in the meantime, lets see what else we can find up here."

Looking at the now friendly summoner she adds "Presumably the summoner still has his essence around here somewhere. I don't suppose he kept a map on his person as well did he?"

The lass strokes Sin for a bit before asking it "behow me flew" and then starts to look around the hill top.

As her walking takes her close to Laura and Elizabeth, she says "Home is where you make it. I'm glad you have each other, it really doesn't matter where you are when you have someone to be with. Why could here not be home? It is very beautiful."

 

Casts detect magic and starts to look around for anything, with a particular focus on whatever might be holding the summoners life essence. Or does she think the gem that was crushed by the falling figure was holding the summoner?

After the mindjumping Olympics Frask felt exhausted but what Humility had asked seemed sensible. "I don't know humility, but I shall do what I can to find out." After that he regained his psionic focus taking ten+31 so I make it.focus and gather his thoughts. He then expends all of his Going to go through ten questions for a minutes worth of activity via meditation and then six more seconds to refocus afterwards. I will post questions in fieldsetenergies, trying to search the mind of this body to see what it knows.

Laura snapped a glare at Sin alongside Humility. "I happen to like birds, you silly cat...I would walk out on my balcony and see the pretty seabirds every morning, and in summer the sparrows would migrate past...but I've always wanted more than anything to see a macaw, or a toucan..." The woman smiled softly, for the first time since they were on the island. But suddenly, her head snapped to the sky, something having drawn her attention. There, sillouetted by the sun, was a bird. Its flight was somewhat erratic and wobbly, and after a few circles it fell straight to the ground, right inbetween Laura and Jack.

Thinking quickly, Laura reached out her arms and caught the falling bird, a black toucan with a bright green and yellow bill. Weakly, the toucan gives a squawk, which causes Laura's eyes to go wide. "Did...did anyone else hear that?"

"I heard nothing but I would like to tell you all of what I have found. This being is similar to us in that he has had his memories altered. This plane is realtively young, being only 100 years in age. He planned on making an army and taking over this plane and possibly others. There are people on this island but most of the powerful ones here treat them as ants, including the summoner. There is this magical quiver filled with wands and staffs that I am quite sure our resident arcana oriented friend would do much better with. He had no map on his body, which while said is not unable to be overcome. Last but not least he knew nothing of who we are or, more importantly, who we have been."

As Frask finishes his quick listing off of information he removes the quiver and places it in the middle of the group and then lifts the turban up, removing the circlet of charisma and putting on his own circlet of intelligence. He then puts on his rings, belt, boots, staff, shield and has his ectoplasmic skin coat him. The only thing he was missing now was his heavy armor but as it was non-magical his ability to swap it out for something later would not greatly hinder him. "That circlet will make anyone who wears it have a stronger force of personality and I find no real use for it. I now ask if any of you have any questions for this body, the process of asking is rather short and the information gained could be invaluable."

Obviously somewhat puzzled by the process, Humility asked "Did you grown up here? On this island or plane? If not, where did you come from? Do you know who/what made this plane? These are all things I would like to know."

She then adds "Where did you learn your art of summoning?"

Both Humility and Sin look a little uncomfortable around the dead-but-still-breathing summoner.

"I shall ask, though that second to last question is the one that intrigues me the most, wish I would have thought about it."

Frask once again focus cycling for thirty six seconds ending on being focused.takes a moment to himself and asks his new body Questions that humility just asked, special focus on the one about the creation of this plane.questions.

While everything else was going on, Jack seemed a little distant as he stared off into the distance. He barely reacted when the bird literally dropped out of the sky and he didn't even respond when Laura looked around and supposedly heard something. His voice trailed off as he slowly scanned the landscape below him. While everyone else only saw hills, forests, and a river, he could see so much more. "Wow," he said as he took in a deep breath of fresh air. His eyes were mildly glowing, and anyone who paying attention could see what looked like a small spinning clock in the middle of his iris.

Time and space itself was bending light toward his eyes and Jack could see farther than it was ever possible. He could even see signs of settlement and smoke rising out from small houses near the riverside. Smiling, Jack lost himself among the wildlife of the forest before he slowly turned back to the others.

"There are definitely people down there," he said out of breath. "I think I might be able to pinpoint how to reach them." Looking at Laura and the bird, Jack laughed. "Where did that guy come from?" he said as he hesitantly touched one of its wings. "He has such a colorful beak! What is he?"

"The summoner came from an elemental plane, he knows not who made it and he learned summoning through the inherent magic of his people rather than being trained. Any other questions for this ones mind? I think we have covered the basics at the very least."

"Let him die in peace maybe?" suggests the young companion of Sin.

She starts to look through the pile of magical items left by the summoner, trying to work out what they do.

"Interesting.... Odd, complete waste of time. Ohhh..."

 

I can roll some spellcraft checks if you like, but with a +32 bonus, I think the only thing she would have trouble with is something very, very powerful.
