[Game Thread] The Waiting Room

Jack couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah we probably need to get cleaned up too," he said as he looked at the terrified woman. Still, he had to admire her audacity to stand out even when she wasn't sure she could take on so many. "We should all just calm down and relax, right guys?"

Seeing the boys take the lead, Humility keeps quiet for a bit. After a moment or two Sin starts to get fidgety and jumps down from her bag and walks towards the woman. The cat approaches, staying just out of sword range and sits down to carefully consider woman in armour. Then, obviously bored goes looking off for mice or a fish.

"Ahh, sorry about the cat. He seems to think he owns everything he sees. Cats eh?"

Humility walks up in a friendly manner towards the woman. "How did you become the villages protector? And does it have a name? I think I'd like to hear the story of your village, and what you protect it from."

What loss, a whole village ripped from their own world.

"Protector? I'm just the one stupid enough to try standing up to one of you." she lets out a nervous laugh, "welcome to Vestige," she declares with a sweep of her arm. "I don't know if you'll get much of a story. At least not an accurate one. We lost a lot in the transition and much more since. We have a recently vacated house you can use, and the well has clean water to drink."

"The difference between courage and stupidity is often a thin line Mi'Lady." Frask cracks a smile although it sits somewhat akwardly upon his face. "The lack of knowledge is not entirely unexpected, though I will happily accept the home to rest in, and the offer of something to drink, I feel I could rest for a week."

Jack stretched his back as he let out a long sigh. Smiling, he rubbed his eyes as he yawned for a bit. "That's good because flying is really tiring and I think I might need a nap," he said as he eagerly started walking towards the empty house. Before walking inside, he sort of stopped mid step and turned back to the others. "What's your name anyway?" he asked as he looked quizzically at the young knight. "I think I need to keeping track everything that has been happening to me..."

With a nod of thanks, Humility goes to check out the hut. "I'm pretty sure I've lived in worse than this.." she calls out. Sin on the other hand seems pretty intent in stalking what appears to be a mouse.

Returning to the protector, the confused girl asks "What type of threats does Vistige face? Vistige? That is an odd name... like memory... was it always called Vistige?"

"It's a new name. A vestige of the world from which we came. Though we remember little we cannot see in the buildings themselves."

The party retires to one house (which quickly becomes crowded). Characters quench their thirst while the woman leaves to inform the rest of the village that it is safe. You have a moment to speak alone if you wish.

"So the summoner aside. Do you think this village is one of the reasons we are here? Can we somehow send it back to it's original home? Even if we could, after however many generations, would that be the right thing to do? 'The vanished village returns' - what if another village has been built on the original spot?"

Humility looks around the house, trying to determine what sort of world it would have come from. "Weak as they appear, to have survived so long in somewhere as...risky as here... they must have some resources..."

"I tend to agree that returning them home without proper investigation would end badly, even if they aren't on a new village they could end up in the middle of the ocean or on a battlefield or a million other nasty alternatives. I will say that the continued existence of this village is a bit of an oddity, if they are truly as unprotected from powerful beings as this woman seems to think then there is precious little reason for them not to be enslaved by this point if the mindset of the summoner we met is anything to go off of. I suppose sticking around for a while to find out what is going on couldn't hurt." Frask finds a place where he can stretch properly, still getting used to his new bodies size.

Jack nodded as he sipped some water from his cup. Pausing, he looked out the window as the peaceful villagers started coming out of their homes. He was glad that everything had safely deescalated. Scratching his chin, Jack could only shrug at Humility's suggestions. "We don't even know how they got here, or why," he said as he looked at the villagers. "Unlike the summoner, or any of us, they're not super strong and they don't have any unique powers. Why would those.....Gods bring them here?" he asked as his mind drifted back to the wooden room. "What purpose could they possibly serve aside from cannon fodder?"

"On the up side, maybe they are here as a lesson for us?" the witch offers to Jack. Shrugging she adds "Although one thing I have learned is that it is not always all about me...."

She too looks out at the village. "Obviously not fireball fodder, or they would not be here still. Maybe as breeding stock? It would be interesting to know if humans dominate this island... or are just a small part of it."

She looks hard at the Summoners body. "Do your memories tell you anything about it?"

Jack scratched his chin and sighed. "You're right - this village has to exist for some reason. But to teach us a lesson? I doubt it," he said as he looked out the window. "I doubt they can teach us anything that we wouldn't be able to find out in another way." Looking around, Jack sat down and just wanted to to close his eyes.

"Maybe we should enjoy this time to take a break," he said out loud to no one in particular. "I think I'm going to enjoy this nap first for now..."
