[Story] Party Banter (Day 1 to Morning of Day 4)

[Pilgrim]

Dunwich is clearly surprised at the amount of gold dropped in front of him, but he takes it in stride. After all, the customer was entitled to... eccentricities, especially if buying that much clothing. His smile more genuine now, he pulls the tape measure from his belt while saying, "I see, My Lady. However, these silks are not made for travel. I can make something just as colorful, in a more durable fabric if you would like. They will look just as pretty, and hold up better as well." He holds out the tape measure. "Would you stand still a moment so I may take your measurements?"

[Moridain]

Hand still outstretched from putting the money on the counter Sakura stops moving. She thinks it was quite a silly order though, since it will make measuring her quite hard.

Still, he was the expert...

[Pilgrim]

"Err... thank you." Gently, the tailor makes the measurements he can, then says, "Perhaps you could stand like this now?" He stand straight up, arms out to the sides, and his feet slightly apart. When Sakura does so, he finishes his measurements. "Thank you. Now, My Lady, did you like the style of these dresses, or simply the colors? And how are you traveling - on a horse, or in a carriage?" With a hand on her back, he guides Sakura to a shallow alcove in a wall. The alcove has been fitted with large, polished steel mirrors, so one may see oneself from three angles.

She blinks, not having thought that far ahead, "Er... I think we are going to be travelling a lot so I guess I will probably buy a horse soon."

Looking at the clothes, "The colors are nice, but to be honest... I don't really know about style." she touches her rags, which have never really bothered her before. She blushes a little, unsure why.

[Pilgrim]

Dunwich frowns, pausing. "Going to be? How did you get to our village? Aren't you from Devonsport?"

[Moridain]

She shakes her head, "Mother told me I'm from here, but she doesn't know who I'm from. I lived in the swamp."

She suddenly looks a little sad, "But, Mother died recently and told me to come here."

Perking up "But I found a group of people, and we are going on an adventure together now. So I guess its not all bad. But now I have to wear Foot Things and get decent clothes since I wont be in the squishy warm stuff of the swamp any more, so I came here." she smiles as if what she said is completely normal.

[Pilgrim]

"You lived in the swamp?!?" It takes a moment, then Dunwich's eyes go even wider. "Adventuring? A slip of a girl like you? Oh, dear... look, it is a dangerous world out there. I know, I have seen it. I was an adventurer myself. You hardly look like you can take care of yourself. Why don't you stay in the village? Much safer for a young lady like yourself." He seems to have forgotten all about the clothing.

[Moridain]

She frowns, not liked being condescended to "I killed a badger once you know. All by myself. I'm pretty tough..."

As he takes the measurements she sees that he is reaching unconsciously for his notebook, which is slightly outside of his reach. Casually Sakura 'reaches' for it, a vine growing out of her hand and grabbing the notebook, returning it to her hand. She then holds it out for him.

At the strange look on his face, "What?" she is honestly confused. Everyone can do that right?

[Pilgrim]

Dunwich drops his tape measure, then scrambles to pick it up. "Uh, maybe you can handle yourself at that." He looks at Sakura, then at the dress selections he was making. "But if you are going to be adventuring in these clothes, well, that's a different thing entirely. You'll need pockets..."

Dunwich flies into a flurry of activity, selecting fabrics (and discarding some moments later), making notes, and speaking of patterns and weaves. He occasionally stops to make sure you like the colors he picks out (though he seems to shy away from the brightest ones - "Sometimes you just don't want to stand out."), then cuts, trims, sews, and stitches. In the end, he hands you three explorer's outfits, and four traveler's outfits.

"Why don't you choose two of each?" He opens a nearby door, to reveal a small room with a mirror on the wall. "Go ahead and try them on, see what you like."

The clothes options seem to be of three differant styles, each of them differant from anything Sakura has worn before. The first set seem to be like those hanging on the racks, long flowing things that seem like they would catch on things a lot but also look the prettiest.

And in towns there seems to be a lot less to catch clothes on, so I guess people can wear these.

The second set of clothes are a lot more restrictive, and seem to be of the style of those in the group she just joined. Far less flowing fabrics in these, they seem to be made of darker colors too.

Nothing to catch on these but they also don't seem any where near as pretty.

The third seems to be a compromise between the two, long flowing tops in bright colors over baggy pants with lots of pockets on both. They look like movement would be easy, but havent stinted on attractiveness either.

She tries all of them on, but her choice is made from the start. The third is definatly her. She picks out some colors that he seems to disapprove of, very bright and lively colors that clash in ways she likes and remind her of the swamps. While outsiders might see them as glum and colorless places having lived there she has seen it at its best; no where else in the world do you get colors and contrast like in swamp.

In the end she picks out three sets of what she is told is a Tunic and trousers, 'Though the Tunics are slightly longer than average, almost like a mini dress' and is talked around to fairly sedate colors, though still brighter than what everyone else seems to be wearing. She also selects a couple of the flowy highly colorful dresses to take for special occations. Its one of these dresses she chooses to wear out of the place for now, knowing that its not really practical wear when travelling but wanting to use it for now at least. The dress she is wearing is a showy emerald green silk, cut with a slit up the leg and matched with a thick shawl. It also comes with a very long silk ribbon in the same color, which after some time sorting out the tangles, Sakura uses to tie back her long hair.

"Did I give you enough shinies to pay for all of these? And do you have any Foot Things to suit them?"

[Pilgrim]

Dunwich helps pack up all the clothes for easier carrying. "Foot things... oh, shoes. No, shoes and boots you need to head over to Eddan Lighttouch's place." He gives you directions to get there. "And yeah, you paid enough. Look, most out there aren't as scrupulous as me." He sorts out the coinage, pointing to each type of coin. "These are gold pieces, these silver, and these copper. Gold is worth ten times what silver is, and silver is worth ten times what copper is. Usually, you want to wait until someone has told you a price before you show cash, because some out there will take as much as you give and give you little back in return."

He scoops up the coin you left, and hands you your packages. "Have a good evening, My Lady. And, be careful out there," he says.

ooc How much did he keep in the end?

The idea that some shinies are worth more than others, ten times more! startles her. In truth she did like Gold the most, but would have accepted back just two of the silver ones instead since she liked them almost as much. The copper ones are boring, really, and she really must try to get rid of as many of those as she can.

"Thanks for the advice then." She says happily, taking the large bundle of clothing. She hasn't got a pack yet so all the clothes are simply bound together in a big bundle. She really must get one of those pack things the others have.

She heads off toward Eddan Lighttouch's place for the foot things. She had left the other foot things, no shoes. They are called shoes, back at the Inn and now wishes she hadn't. These rocks in all the streets are making her feet hurt even worse than the rocks outside were!

ooc Nice. Was honestly expecting to be heavily ripped off there. Good people do exist it seems.

The person who leaves the clothes shop is unrecognisable from the one who entered. The scruffy looking waif with a mop of dredded hair is replaced with a highly attractive, if careworn looking girl who would fit in in the wealthy district of almost any city. The vivid color of her dress is in stark contrast to her very pale straw colored hair which is bound back in an emerald ribbon.

She still isn't wearing shoes though, which allow people to see that her feet are a bit larger than human norm, and strangely uncallosed. She winces along the paved streets to the cobblers place, a large bundle of clothes draped almost carelessly over her shoulder.
