It probably wouldn't have been much of an obstacle, but unfortunately being alone doesn't mean I can just make decisions for the group, and I don't really like talking to myself a whole lot xD

As far as replacements go, should we go with:
a) Two players, both fighter-types b) Two players, one fighter-type and one wizard-type c) Three players, two of them fighter-types and one wizard-type (this would be replacement of original choices) d) Three players, one fighter-type, one wizard-type, and one other of any type Just to clarify: Fighter-type would be fighters, barbarians, paladins, rangers, monks, and cavaliers. Wizard-types would be wizards, sorcerers, witches, and summoners. I'm leaning towards c or d...

Is it down to four of us currently? Ieiunitas, Casino, Corporeal, and myself? If so i'd say either A or B since 6 is a good size.

I'm thinking if we can get a rogue, option D would be nice. Otherwise, option B or C. Oh, and I think I should mention that I got accepted to another 3.5e game recently, so I'm two for two =P. I'm not planning to leave this game and my posting speed should be about the same, so it really won't affect anyone here much, I just thought I would mention it. It's pretty exciting for me because I'm playing a character with a Vow of Poverty from the Book of Exalted Deeds, which is something I've wanted to do for a while now =D

Nice! Vow of Poverty is a tricky feat, balanced only for games where the GM is following the treasure tables. If the GM gives more treasure, it becomes underpowered, and if less, very overpowered. It is also broken for classes like monk or soulknife, which don't rely as much on equipment and automatically upgrade their own "weapons". What are you playing?
LordJecks, I always thought 5 was a nice size, but I want more padding for droppers. In fact, I'd be fine with 4 players if the party is balanced. Suppose (for example) Alessandra had stuck around but Casino Jack had dropped. I probably wouldn't be recruiting because a fighter, a cleric, a bard, and an alchemist are a pretty solid party. (That shouldn't be taken as me saying I wish Jack had dropped instead of Alessandra, by any means.) In any case, the only reason I lean towards 7 players over 6 is that it reduces the chance of needing recruitment shortly later. A rogue would be nice, but not mandatory. With all skills going 1 for 1 in Pathfinder, anybody can disable traps (well, except magical ones); the rogue just does it better. Not saying traps are all a rogue is good for, just that's the only reason they were nearly indispensable in a 3.5 core party - only they had Disable Device as a class skill. So that's a vote for A, two votes for B, two for C, and one for D, with a conditional extra for D if a rogue applies. ![]()

Drubner does have disable device and perception. While it's awesome for mundane traps, all he really needs to do is toss a charge from a dispel magic wand at a magic trap to get by. Thankfully he also has use magic device. A rogue would only save some time and an item.
I think option d sounds the best since it allows for a wider variety, but I also lean heavily towards c since we do need more melee fighters than magic users at this point. |

Looks like it'll probably be C, then. I'm moving the deadline up to tomorrow night so that I can check character sheets before getting them gaming by this weekend. Now I just have to figure out how to get them into the main game. Might have them doing a separate thread until the rest of the party gets back from the swamp.
And Drubner poses some excellent questions. Perhaps you will learn the answers in time...

Is it safe to assume you're one of them then? I was hoping we'd get a good spell-slinger in the group.
