A balance of larger goals and personal goals can be accommodated, those more focused on "rebuilding their temple" often provide motivations for the adventure and will be rewarded on top of the standard "have golds" (when the adventure permits).
With this game I will do my best to accommodate everyones wishes and wants. If you want to rebuild an orphanage, then I can guarantee that it will happen, and that you won't lose out on the +2 sword the fighter has (well... maybe slightly, but it'll be made up for in other ways). As it is, the current plan is to just drop you on a road, with maybe a couple of people as travelling companions already, throw the scent of an adventure at you, and then give you choices at every turn. Accept or ignore as many as you want. -Bug

That sounds cool. I am also much about character development and interaction. I like the occasional battle, but when I look at my char sheets, I don't see +4 and 20' and Acrobatics skill +6 - I see their personality, motivations, etc. I mean, I do love the stats, but they take lower precedence than who the character is.
I love to write, and I love to "act" within the context of this game. And this "acting" is usually improvisational, so that's another plus. So if I am playing a fun character, then it's all good. I see online D&D as an art form all its own. I love it more than tabletop games, because we're all essentially creating a story. Just think, anyone could go into any of the games on this site and turn it into a novel. Everything is there, written down, saved. At some point I'd love to play characters that I don't normally play, just to stretch my "acting" abilities. For example, I like playing rogues (sometimes), clerics, paladins, fighters, rangers, druids, and wizards. Not so keen on barbarians, monks, bards, or sorcerers. And my least favorite race to play is gnome. So one of these days I'm going to play a gnome bard, or some other combination, and see what I can do with it. |

Oh yeah, as long as we get to stop at the Ox and Arrow and get abused, that's all I'm asking for!

The Ox and Arrow is something of a legacy
![]() Bards and Sorcerers are two of my most favourite and most played classes. Paror is a bard after all! OK, I'd like to get this game started. Can I seem some char sheets forming with a link in a PM so I know they're ready for evaluation. Starting date will be a week from now (less if everyone is ready - so far it just looks like the 3 of you, with possibly Moridain) Also, if anyone has a spare slot in a game (not 3.5e or 4e) let me know, I'm interested ![]() -Bug

This is sort of a family weekend, and I haven't had much time to sit down and character craft.
Currently I'm considering a half-orc monk I've had fun playing before, a tanky type dwarf (barbarian maybe), or a semi-evil type sorcerer. Still considering other options though. I'm kind of watching what other people do, not so much for party balance but if there are two clerics of the same deity, that might not be as fun as some other mix. I like magic users, but I'm not very experienced with them. I don't like how they get weaker throughout the day. I like fighters because they are just as lethal by sunset as they were that morning.

No problem, As I said, I'd like to be up and running within a week. Also, while I'd like a post every 1-3 days, I'm more than happy to reply far more often than that, especially if its a RP scene between the DM and only 1-2 people.
I have chosen a name for the game. I'll give RPXP to anyone who can figure out why I chose the particular name. (hint: the oldies I've gamed with before are more likely to get it) I won't set up a post until characters are up though, but would anyone like any other threads made. Like... one where relevant information in the world can be posted? Or anything else? -Bug

Oh, the reason why seems pretty obvious to me.
Can you read my mind? The proposed start seems perfect to me. I have been debating what to play, but I'm thinking of a dwarf from a kingdom that fell to an assault of orcs. I've been playing around with the idea. I'll figure out more later tonight.

So a catfolk rogue, a half-orc monk and some kind of dwarf. Hmm...
Are you okay with psionics? I am not thinking anything too complicated, just one of those Aegis guys from the newish book. They are kind of like soulblades, but form armor instead of a blade. No real spells, just abilities tied to the armor.

Actually, nevermind. I have a fantastic idea for a Summoner, one with a celestial butler. A trust fund baby suddenly out on his ass after his family got sick of him, all he has left is his magic, a little gold and his Servant.
Whipping it up now. As for motivations: Insane wealth works, power too. A little heroism would draw him as well, so long as there is fame and fortune involved at the end, such as saving a princess (for the large reward) or killing a dragon (with a large hoard.)

probably not going with the half-orc monk. My stats were too low for that concept and I think I want to try something new.

I'm going with a Dwarven Barbarian. I'll flesh out the concept and get a sheet up as soon as I'm able.

Looks like we are going to be using a lot of Cure Light Wounds wands. Oh well, should be fine. I will eventually be buffing you guys like crazy, and with my Eidolon as the tank and you two as melee dps we shouldn't have any real trouble with most foes. Healing and ranged damage is going to be a problem though.

I'm thinking my guy will not be dps focused, though I hope he doesn't suck. I'm going for a more concept driven character rather than an effective combat killer. I try to do both really, but I am a poor min-maxer and often make 'dumb' choices when building a character. Nothing wrong with Cure Light Wound wands really.

Are you okay with custom traits?
Court Dandy A noble of the court you have a great deal of experience flattering those who need flattering, and even more experience avoiding the sharp tongues of your fellow nobles... Benefit: Bluff and Sense Motive are always class skills. My other is going to be Rich Parents, giving 900 extra starting gold, which I need pretty badly to equip my Eidolon and myself. We share slots.
