Introduction Asteria Majere Race: Human Class: Druid (Circle of Stars) Alignment: Neutral Theme: Fire, Light, Healing and Knowledge Home plane: Krynn (Dragonlance) Background: Haunted One Asteria is the only daughter of the infamous wizard Raistlin Majere. Living in the shadow of such a legacy has taken its toll and shaped the person she is, for better or worse. Personality Trait: My Uncle taught me a sense of duty. I strive to uphold it, even when the odds are against me. Personality Trait: I refuse to become a victim, and I will not allow others to be victimized. Personal Ideal: Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. (Neutral) Personal Bond: There is evil in me, I can feel it. It must never be set free. Personal Flaw: I’m convinced of the significance of my destiny, and secretively believe I am better than everyone else.

Description Appearance: Asteria is a pretty young woman with golden skin and deep amber eyes that are always alert and seem to stare through time and space. Looking into her eyes one can see something dark reflected back. She is skinny and has inherited some of her fathers cough but she is healthy if not strong. Though she is not officially a mage she wears dark red robes of neutrality. Her golden amulets represent the constellations of Krynn. Paldine and Mishakal, as well as the hourglass sign of her father. Asteria was raised by a warrior and understands the value of protection. She wears scraps of leather armor under her robes. Her left forearm is covered by a thick leather bracer that offers extra protection. She also carries her father's staff, a gift from her uncle. Although the magic is gone it works fine as a focus for her own sorcery and reminds the girl of her legacy. Personality: Her aunt and uncle raised there niece well. She has compassion for others, a sense of duty and understands the value of honor. She has a soft spot for outsiders and loners like herself and feels a connection to the misunderstood people of the world. She has however also inherited her father's ambition and self-importance. She has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a strong desire for power. She harbors a grudge against others who would judge her, particularly those in the Tower of High Sorcery. It is why she has chosen not to practice classic wizardry and instead has developed her own magic based on the celestial powers of the heavens.

Background History: Asteria was born under mystical circumstances. The moons had aligned in a pattern known as the night of the eye. The sky was starless as if the gods themselves had come to witness her birth. Even Astinus took pause to note the significance as he recorded the events. It was a difficult delivery and though the midwives did their best the mother perished that fateful evening. With her father already gone as well Tika and her uncle Caramon took it upon themselves the raise the child. Growing up in Solace it was no secret who here father was and Asteria had to deal with the stares and whispers throughout her childhood. Like Raistlin she was frail and children would tease her relentlessly. As a result Asteria was a lonely girl that spent a lot of time by herself reading. She found she loved books and was quite adept at magic. It only seemed logical that she would become a wizard like her father, however she was denied access to the Tower of high Sorcery. By this time she had grown tired of the constant drama of her life and decided to set off on a pilgrimage and see the world. She followed the same path as her father did during the war of the lance. Settling in Silvanos for a significant amount of time amongst the star elves. It was there that she first tapped into the power of astronomy and the potential of the cosmos. Her latest journey has her traveling to the plains of dust. She has heard of a elf woman there with great astrological abilities. However as she reached the burning sands of Tarsis an unusual fog settled into the land. Quickly she was surrounded by the mists. Roleplay Sample:

Out of Character Player information:   1) What is it you would like to get out of the game? What kind of things appeal to you in a PbP game? I would love to have a long term adventure full of character development and great writing (im not that good yet but I try) given the flavor of the game i suspect some level of discovery. Ancient relics, spell books, dark passages that lead to surprise encounters. 2) What sort of things do you not want to see in a PbP game? Im fine with just about anything, i like silly characters and evil characters (though not my own this time) 3) What is it that made you want to apply to this game? Its ravenloft-esque mostly. plus just good timing. the Egyptian theme is pretty cool though and I can see myself watching "the mummy" again just to get in the mood. 4) Do you prefer PbP games that are predominantly focussed on combat, or predominantly focussed on role-play? Or a mixture of the two? A mixture of the two. PbP is inherently more Roleplay focused by design and without combat it can become stale. plus I really want to blast some undead with starlight. Mechanics:   I havent completed my character sheet since there are some decision points id have to make based on party composition. Most likely using Human/Custom Lineage as I think an early feat can be flavorful and help define a character. Telekinetic has always peaked my interest, but Ritual Caster Wizard is very on point as well. I have listed Asteria as a Druid mostly because I've never played one but she could just as easily be a Wizard if the wisdom caster spot is already filled.

I will be away on holiday from 15th July to 28th July. Although I might get access to post in that time period I wouldn't count on it so I'll be aiming to complete outstanding reviews before I go. Selections will be made soon after I return.

I am very interested in this, as ancient Egypt, Egyptology, the pyramids, etc., are all a fascinating subject that I have spent some of my free time reading up on throughout my life. It's a period in our own history that is still largely a mystery, and I feel we've only scratched the surface of understanding.

With that said, I will be putting forth an application in the coming few days, hopefully before you head off on holiday. But one question I have up front is in regards to the secrets that you are asking for (one we know, one we don't). Can you expand on what you mean here? Are you talking about meta-plot secrets, or things in general? Secrets about Ravenloft, or where we are from? I have an idea on a secret that my character wouldn't know, but I'd like clarification from you on the overall secrets thing before I divert too much of my energy into fleshing that out.

EDIT: Another question! Are custom Backgrounds allowed? I like the Investigator Background from Van Richten's, but for the concept I have going on, neither the Disguise Kit or the Thieves' Tools work. Could I swap those out with Alchemist Supplies and Forgery Kit?
