Sormus Mutcher is now complete. I am going on vacation from this Sunday to next Sunday, just in case I drop out of touch for any reason.

Elrod Chremelvale
Human Warlock True Neutral Characteristics: Personality traits: Obsessive about his interests; Unable to empathize Ideal: Must create a gateway for Daoloth – At All Costs! Bonds: None, and it makes him as unbalanced as having no bonds should Flaws: Easily distracted by details, over-absorbed in his own investigations Background Elrod was a rather unpromising student at the Amethyst Academy. After one of his many lackluster performances, he was assigned to clean out a nearly forgotten storage room. While mucking about therein, he had a freak encounter with a bizarre artifact and, one thing leading to another as they so often do in arcane matters, he became a disciple of Daoloth (warlock of a Great Old One). The artifact and a substantial portion of the storage room and adjoining floors were all lost in the encounter. The Academy was not amused, but since he now showed significantly greater magical promise, he was allowed to continue to exist in return for being sent to the survey and exploration effort underway in the city of Drakkenheim. {As for Elrod, he is now convinced that it is his mission is to gather together magical items "of peculiar geometry or construction", possessing "non-Euclidean angles" and other mind-bending geometric properties. He believes that gathering such items together is critical in order to create a permanent gateway for Daoloth into our world.}{PERSONAL QUEST} It is unclear exactly how such a gate would be created, or whether Daoloth even really wants one... He is fairly perceptive but easily distracted by details, which can make his perceptivity even less useful than its lack. Appearance and Mannerisms He is 6'3" tall, but only 140 lbs. He has dark brown hair, fairly short and unruly, and watery blue eyes. His skin is pale, but he has a port-wine stain on his chin and neck. He is unfailing polite in manner, but also rather standoffish or withdrawn due to extreme shyness and lack of experience with the world outside the Academy. RP Sample Elrod has just arrived in staging grounds for his new work as a city surveyor and explorer. He has been assigned to a nearby inn for housing and nervously enters the common room, stepping inside and immediately to the side of the door, closing it quietly behind him and keeping his back to the wall. He looks nervously around, fidgeting with some small trinket in his hands, then takes a deep breath, pockets the trinket, and strides with what he hopes looks like purpose toward the bar. In another world, he would conjure immediate comparison with Ichabod Crane, both in build and mannerism. Arriving at the bar, he clearly his throat quietly and says, with only a slight quiver in his voice, "Sir, I have been assigned to your estimable premises for lodging by the Amethyst Academy. Might I obtain a room?" What do you like to see in a PBP game? I am not sure I have every played a true PBP game other than a Call of Cthulhu adventure. I would hope to see what I hope for in an RPG with friends: fun exploring and fighting, some humorous and some serious roleplay, and a general attitude of "we're all here to have fun". What do you not like to see in a PBP game? Player animosity (I don't mind character animosity so much, esp. if it is warranted by or drives the story) or being a roadblock to everyone else's progress. What piqued your interest in applying for this game? The setting is one I am completely unfamiliar with but intrigued me when I investigated it; the recruiting period wasn't over yet, so I might "get in on the ground floor"; and it seemed well-suited to a character idea I've had for a while now but doesn't get traction in most settings. What do you want to get out of this game? Be selfish - what is in it for YOU? I just need a steady drip of DnD in my IV and I would very much like it to be an ongoing story. I have been trying Discord out and, although I like Avrae well enough, the sessions seem to be just combat with no exploration, and the roleplaying was mostly out-of-session. What is your expected posting rate? At the moment I could post often, but I will eventually be limited to mornings and evenings. I don't know exactly how this works, so I don't know if that actually answers the question, sorry. |

@Drachenspirit - unfortunately I wont be accepting Goliaths as a race, so i've put you down as a half orc.

Revisions finished, thanks for the feedback.
And to anyone who does read the revised History, the inciting incident is indeed shamelessly amalgamated from the Harry Potter books! |

Edited Character sheet to reflect the race change to Half-Orc. Was really only cosmetic as they have they same ability bonuses at start. Also dropped the middle and last name.

How are you rolling stats? I realize you don't want folks rolling just yet, but if we are rolling straight 3d6, in order, it makes MAD classes an absolute non-starter. (I'm aware you aren't likely to do it the old fashioned way, but I gotta know. )

For these sorts of games I don't think the "old" ways are necessarily the best and restricts players on the actual type of character they want to play. T'will be the 27 pt Buy-In method. This is the way.

I might be interested in this, if positions are still open. I'm just trying to decide if now is a good time... I've only just started my first multiplayer (and first real) campaign, PBP or not, less than two weeks ago. I like settings like this, however.

Hello! I did a little update to my character sheet. I changed the art and I'm using my own art instead.

I was perusing through the thread and is there a requirement to come up with our own character art instead of using a pic we find on google?
