In all she's an unapproachable woman with a demeanor as stark as the black an white clothing she tends to favor. Those travelers that manage to breach the rough seas of her exterior find the waters much more agreeable and her context shifted. She's not so uninviting; rather she's focused, driven, refusing to let idleness rot her mind. With adroitness of a dancer she can pivot to become a rock of reason and stability for the companions she's taken under her wing. A great many dualities here, but else could one expect from an adherent of the exarch Rahg Bulv. In her tattooed palm she carries life and death, much the same as the Winged Eye. Though she may have wanted to connect with her only living relative, even she was quick to admit that such a thing would never come to be. Caballine was inscrutable, ever-watchful, and chthonic. In her thirteenth year Aslyn was sent far from her home. To stable earth and dreary, static fields. Officially she was their to cement diplomatic ties. Unofficially she was a declaration of Forwe's intent to muscle in on the wider games of power within the world. In this new isolation something changed. A chance meeting with the young daughter of this country's nobility opened Aslyn to something she'd been bereft of all these years: companionship. Now, as the Princess is about to embark on her own journey away from home, Asyln will be there to lend her support.   "Merecene." "Granddaughter." Caballine Roave opened a jeweled palm. Within was nothing but the offer of the adjacent, empty seat. Already Aslyn was wary. "The Merecene offers nothing and demands everything." That was the saying and the truth. Another truth took its place, dread as it was, on this small boat in the middle of the ocean there was nowhere else to go. If this was a trap, this girl of thirteen summers saw no avenue of escape. So, with the hidden resignation of a sacrificial steer, Aslyn engaged in these unusual pleasantries. "I've heard from the monks of Rahg Bulv that you've completed your initiation. Impressive for someone your age, but I would've expected nothing less. The marks, show them to me." Aslyn, obediently, opened her palms this time. The feathery strands of metallic blue spiraled towards each finger. It was, in a word, beautiful. At least Aslyn though so, Caballine's opinion on the tattoos were much more inscrutable. Considering the distraction, now seemed to be the perfect time to interject herself fully into this conversation. "Grandmother... Why did you send for me?" The question arced Caballine's eyebrow, further creasing her weathered brow, "Child, we are here to discuss your future-" The rapping of knuckles on her door ended the reverie. The past faded from her mind's eye, leaving Aslyn a decade older, wiser, and more cynical. Still, she had to fight the smile that tried to assert itself as the knocking came again. The Princess must be excited, or eager, or... just wanting to say hello. This place might not have been her choice, but it wasn't all bad. With a few steps she crossed the room to let her friend in... Why: What is a friendship worth to you? Frankly, she couldn't care less about your views on the matter. To her the Princess is more than just an idle companion. She's a true and invaluable equal. That alone is enough to justify any danger or adventure.

Application Name: Princess Sabine Amara Caladrius Race: Human Profession: Artificer (Artillerist) Role: Princess Description: At a first glance, Sabine is exactly what one would expect of a princess- bright, gentle, and demure. She dresses the way those around her deem acceptable: soft pastel clouds of silk surround her in wide gowns for royal events, meanwhile she wears much more simplistic dresses on the rare day where there is no one to entertain. Though she is not the type of person to walk up and start conversations, she does her best to listen to what everyone around her has to say, hoping to learn something from all those she meets. Sabine makes a point to at all times remain the ideal princess and daughter, even when all she wants to do is hide in the castle’s workshop. In there with the forges and hammers and alarmingly high combustion rates, the young woman lets the mask slip just a tad. She no longer has to worry about keeping her long and curly dark hair in an extremely painful bun or whether or not she has a smudge of grease across her forehead. All Sabine has to do is focus on her research. And it is glorious. There, the young woman tempts herself with fantasies of no longer being the princess, perhaps opening a shop or teaching others the magic she had learned. Yet, she would never dare attempt to bring these dreams to a reality. Sabine knows her responsibilities to the crown, therefore her hobbies must remain just that. Perhaps it is this sense of royal duty that causes Sabine to always put the wishes of those around her ahead of her own or lack any sort of a spine when it comes to telling people no. Or perhaps she is just a doormat enchanted to look like a short and lithe girl. The world may never know. Still, she remains highly dedicated to her country and her people, and works hard to one day rule with integrity. Background: Noble - As the princess and heir to the throne, Sabine was raised with the expectation that she would always remain poised, polite, and perfect. Her mother and father were (and are) kindhearted though rather punctilious as rulers and as parents, and often be overprotective in the ladder category, keeping their daughter’s access to the world outside of the capital rather limited. Still, Sabine had the privilege of access to a wide array of tutors and tomes, so she put herself to use, soaking up everything she could learn within the city walls. She learned of politics, diplomacy, and strategy as all rulers must, but soon discovered that her true passions lay within the natural sciences and magic. Roleplaying Sample: Sabine scrutinized the parchment on her desk, tickling her nose with the feather of her quill as she did so. With a frustrated sigh, the young woman scratched out the last character in the most recent string of runes and wrote in a different one. Sabine stared at the scroll for one last minute. She would just have to hope she was right. Grabbing the paper off her desk and pushing a lock of renegade curls out of her face, Sabine strolled over to the woodworking bench (a noble, no matter how excited or panicked, never walks at a pace unbefitting of their rank). Then, she began chiseling into a plank of wood she had been carving for some time now. Experimental runes from previous projects littered the surface of the otherwise rather plain-looking piece of wood. Behind Sabine, other workers darted in and out of the large workroom. Johanna, the castle armorer, was hammering something in the northern corner, resounding CLANGs shook the stone room at a steady rhythm. Sabine tried to shut out all distractions. She refused to mess up now, not after months of researching. Still, she couldn’t seem to stop her heart from pounding in her ears. Eventually, though, the runes formed the same orientation as they did on the parchment. Sabine took a step back to admire her work, her hands began to shake from anticipation. Sabine inhaled, placed two fingers over the engraving, then muttered an incantation. For a second, nothing happened and Sabine’s heart plummeted to her stomach, until suddenly, a sphere of soft light erupted from the runes surrounding the plank protectively. Sabine laughed once in triumph and leapt into a rather unladylike dance, though ‘dance’ might have been too kind a word. When the fitful movements in the name of victory subsided, Sabine turned to show the work to Johanna only to run into the royal butler, Curtis. “Princess, your parents are requesting your presence in the great sitting room for tea with the Marquess and her son.” He spoke as formally as ever. To Sabine’s relief, he did not comment on her unruly appearance or unbecoming behavior. Sabine in return gave a rather apologetic smile and immediately reached down to smooth out her dress as she spoke, “Thank you, Curtis, I will convene with them in a moment.” Curtis left to relay the message while Sabine rushed as fast as is proper to the nearest mirror. She had hoped to sneak in an hour more of testing, after all, this was the fifth tea with the Marquess and her son this week. Still, honoring her parents and royal responsibilities always must come first. Having adjusted her hair and made sure her face was clean, Sabine practiced her smile. Something seemed off. She hoped that she would be able to fake it better once she was upstairs. Why: Must one truly put to words the importance of peace? If the lives that will be spared from death in senseless war, and the trade that will bring revenue to many lower income citizens are not reasons enough to travel and sign this treaty, I cannot say what would be.

Brief Disclosure First off, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here, but I got some strong anime-styling vibes coming from the advert, so I thought that a mahō shōjo princess in the style of Sailor Moon or PreCure would fit perfectly. Let me know if I’m way off here.

Princess Luminara Starshimmer Name: Princess Luminara “Lulu” Starshimmer Race: Aasimar (Protector) Profession: Bard 1 / Warlock 9 (Seeker or Celestial Patron) Role: Princess (could be adapted to be Friend or Guardian depending on party dynamic) Description: Appearance: Lulu is a fairly ordinary young girl - at least she never thought of herself as anything special. She always lagged behind her peers in height, and physical development in general, often causing her to be mistaken for younger than she is - a misconception her softly rounded cherubic face and her wide, guileless eyes do little to dispel. Lulu’s grandparents often require her to dress the part of her role, wearing opulent dresses of the finest fabrics with layer upon layer of lace and frills. However, when she does dress this way (particularly when she is on “official business”), she generally appears like a fish out of water, and has been known to trip over her own two feet. When she can get away with it, she prefers to dress far more simply simply, in a common peasant dress made of plain cloth, and heavy well-worn boots far too big for her that give her a somewhat clownish appearance. There is a brightness to her smile that can be infectious, though. When she calls upon the magic of her ancestral calling, all of that changes: she no longer looks anything like a simple peasant farmgirl. Instead Princess Luminara Starshimmer appears as a tall, robust warrior encased in ornate gleaming magical armor. All her bumbling clumsiness is suddenly replaced by majestic grace and power, and her typically unruly hair grows longer, and yet manages to stay out of her way far better than when she is “just herself.” Personality: Lulu is ever the bright and cheerful optimist, who prefers to see the best in others and views strangers as simply friends she hasn’t met yet. She sees the world as a fundamentally good place full of good people and can’t quite bring herself to believe that anyone could ever knowingly and intentionally be “evil” without reason, which makes her more interested in figuring out what causes some people to behave badly (since there must be a reason, right?) and sees beating people up as a last (though sometimes necessary) resort. Background: Modified Noble I actually have a really detailed backstory for this character, but it’s several pages long, so here is the short version: In ancient times, the kingdom of Lyria had been a place of peace and prosperity. They had no standing army for they had never known war. Sadly this left Lyria ill-prepared when the Demon-lord Azzothet led his hordes to invade. The Lyrians would never have stood a chance, had it not been for their ruler, Queen Lucia. She ventured into the nearby mountains and climbed their highest peak to arrive at a secluded grotto, a place of mystery and power. She beseeched the other-worldly creatures that came there to bathe in the moonlit waters of a tranquil pool, offering everything she had to give in return for the power to drive her foes back. And one of the creatures answered, granting her unearthly powers in return for a small sliver of her soul … and that of every firstborn daughter of her family. And so Queen Lucia of Lyria became the first Mystic Knight, a long line of hereditary warrior princesses. For generations, the Mystic Knights protected the kingdom of Lyria and its people from marauders, invaders, and monsters. However, while they defended the kingdom from outside threats, they fell prey to a more insidious and subtle enemy. Lothos of Orlon was the most trusted adviser to the Mystic Knight of his time, Queen Iridessa. She entrusted him with affairs of the crown when she was called away to serve in her capacity as protector of the people. But Lothos took advantage of this to consolidate his own power, installing men whose loyalty was due first to him, and to their country as a distant second. One day, when Queen Iridessa returned home, she discovered that Lothos had seized the throne and imprisoned the rest of the royal family. The only one to avoid this fate was Iridessa’s infant daughter and heir to the throne, who had been snuck out of the castle at the start of the coup by a This could be a potential backstory connection to the guardian character, or I can fill this part of her backstory with an NPC.lone guard who had sworn to serve as her protector. As the deposed Queen Iridessa went into exile, she left her daughter in the care of a faithful farmer, who raised her as if she were her own. Lulu grew up never knowing of her true heritage, even as she heard tales of the exiled Queen who still served as Mystic Knight, protecting the people of the realm with her ragtag group of freedom fighters. But that all changed once when her mother fell in battle trying to win her kingdom back, the day that the guardian spirit appeared to inform her of her birthright and her destiny. As the rightful heiress to the throne, Lulu - now Princess Luminara Starshimmer - joined her mother’s band of freedom fighters and led the people’s rebellion against the usurper, Baron Lothos. It was basically, what she was doing from levels 1-10a long and hard-fought war, but after countless battles, she succeeded in retaking the kingdom and freeing her long-imprisoned family. Though she was the rightful heir, Luminara was still too young to ascend to the throne, so she remained crown princess by title, and the grandparents she set free now serve as Regents. Roleplaying Sample: Another brief disclosure here. This whole character is a massive revamp of a similar character I ran once before under the same name and with a similar backstory. That character was for a PF1e game though, and she was a synthesist summoner in a Ravenloft-inspired setting so her backstory was quite a bit darker and more tragic, but this sample should still give you an decent idea of my writing style: a glimpse of a previous incarnation of this character Why: As an applicant for the Princess role, I’m not 100% sure how to answer this, since she’s not exactly rescuing someone else. However, Luminara would agree to this mission because she feels a strong duty to do what is right, amplified by her own insecurities about whether or not she really even deserves to be a princess to begin with, as well as her desire to prove herself capable to her grandparents.

@Desteplo - I would recommend the coast and the forest, as both of those areas are in the immediate vicinity. The artic or mountain areas are also not far off, but getting to those depends on what the party is wanting to do.

As for favored enemies, humanoids make great options here mechanically (though if you favor hunting them, there might be some difficult social interactions). Fiends, fey, and undead are on my encounter tables as well.

She has tan skin with deep wrinkles, a warm smile, and a few whiskers on her chin. She keeps her shoulder-length silver hair in a loose bun that bounces when she laughs. She drinks like a fish and snores like a buffalo, but something about her weary charm and her deep chocolatey voice draws people to her nonetheless. Her days are mostly spent tending to the royal horses, humming a simple nostalgic tune to herself, but you may find her in the evenings anywhere ale is sold, spinning a wild tale to anyone who will listen. She has a laid back attitude and is happiest when she is making others smile. If someone is in trouble, I’m always ready to lend help. I’m confident in my own abilities and do what I can to instill confidence in others. Respect. People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. My tools are symbols of my past life, and I carry them so that I will never forget my roots. I have a weakness for the vices of the city, especially hard drink. Background: Folk Hero. When she was a young lass, Wenda was a champion Jockey, the pride of her humble village. Audiences were enthralled by her eccentric style and confident charm. Now long past her prime, she spends much of her time in a bottle of ale, reminiscing about the 'good old days' and singing songs of her past glory. Though her bad back and creaking joints mean she can no longer ride horses competitively, she retains a strong affinity for her horse companions. This affection, as well as her love of sampling liquors from the varied bars of the kingdom, mean she is quite content with her now more simple life as a driver. This job is a perfect way for her to put her expertise with horses to good use. Roleplaying Sample: RP Sample "Beauty, ain't she son?" Wenda grinned as she watched the stable-boy carefully brush the mare's mane. The boy was new to the job, and she could tell he needed to hear a friendly voice. He turned to her and nodded nervously. "Ah don't look so frightened boy," she chuckled and clapped him on the back, "yer doin' a fine job. Mighty fine. Ol' Bonny would surely let ya know if ya weren't!" The horse huffed in response, and Wenda's laugh grew louder, "Aye she's a fussy one this one - reminds me of my Rosemary. Now there was a pony thought she was queen o' the world." The halfling's fond smile grew a little sad as she spoke. She pulled over a low wooden stool and took a seat with a sigh, her thick, patterned cloaks brushing the stable floor. "She were a champion y'know - once beat the king's own knight in a head-to-head we did, it's true!" Her hand moved to the lute strapped to her back, and she began tuning it absentmindedly as she spoke, "But she were also me harshest critic that pony, would only put up with me very best playin'. She once threw me right off 'er back when I played a bum note in her favourite tune. Now how did it go..." With that she began plucking the strings, playing a sweet, simple melody that echoed through the frosty morning air. Fingers moved like clockwork through the familiar tune, and at once her mind was back in the saddle, sweat dripping from her brow and the smell of leather strong in her nostrils. Rosmary whinnied triumphantly and reared back onto her hind legs, and Wenda's booming laugh was lost among the cheers of the crowd. When the song finished, the stable-boy's shoulders were a little more relaxed, and he had a faint smile on his lips as he continued his work. Why: Wenda is a patriotic soul and was honoured to be offered a job by the royal family. She takes pride in doing her part to protect her home kingdom, the princess especially, whom she feels a maternal need to protect.
