The marauding adventures of Sadekar Shedaran Day 1 - so far, so good... Certainly, it feels different, to be outside the city. Different sounds of nature, different creatures roaming around. Took me a bit to get comfortable in the pace and stride of the horse, but it's not a bad way to travel - certainly faster than on foot, and we have a lot of ground to cover. Day 1, Late Day - We found the town that had been ravaged by the enemy. I decided to take a bit of a rest stop to find out more. We've found the trail of the enemy, and I have to admit, I have my reservations that what we've seen at first glance is a tell tale of Everything that happens to be in that force. I'm taking every chance I can to find more information, since without it we're travelling on blind faith and assumptions, neither of which make a very good bridge over a chasm like this. Day 2 - We're still on the trail of the enemy, but it seems to be shortening - the damage is fresher, and I still have my suspicions that what we've found so far is more of a trail left by the inevitable followers that trail a normal army. I also seem to have been given a ring... dull grey and with green script written along the outside. This is a curious turn, as it was hidden in my saddle. I only found it after it started to rub my inner thigh wrong... hurt like hell, but it's passing now. Day 3, Morning - So, we've run out of trail to follow, right at a mountain range. We've left the horses nearby, and I'm going to take a look around the area - there's a small trail that leads up into the mountains, but it's not even big enough to ride up - an army like we've been following doesn't easily fit up a craggy little path like that without a LOT of time and work. I'm betting there's some caverns they've got a rear guard force hiding in, and they just haven't put out scouts enough to spot us coming - they're probably betting on a big army, so our small group slipped past them if they're out there. |

Day 3, Afternoon - We made our way up one of the caverns, with me leaving sign markings behind if we got turned around at a fork in the caves. They seemed to criss-cross their way through the mountain. Our path led us to a large chamber, another tunnel leading up, which Balban noted had fresh air coming through it - perhaps the trail from up the summit. Two doors were cut in the large chamber, neither with a door handle or any locks. Ashanti, being her somewhat naturally impulsive self, opened one and got herself stuck in some sort of odd one-way barrier that blocked our view and seemingly any sound from passing back through to the rest of the party. Wound up sunk to my elbow when I tried to attack what I though was holding Ashanti, only to find out it was the barrier itself holding her in place. From here on, we've no turning back past this point, since Balban, Ashanti and myself wound up stuck through the barrier. I'm not sure about Wormtail's motives, with this barrier... did he seal his army inside until he decides to move? Do the enemy have keys through the barrier, or is it solely at Wormtail's discretion? I think the second, since it would coincide with the lack of scouts waiting outside.

Day 3, Evening - We found a group of rather disillusioned orcs in the chamber we arrived in through the black door. They were Haggard, Worn, and unthreatening. I attempted to see if I could dig a door through the wall back into the previous chamber, but I fear they dug the area to its absolute limit, and additional digging would result in a cave in. Not surprising, considering the previous chamber's massive size. I only hope I can keep the party safe and intact long enough to see us through to our final objective, the killing of Wormtail. Some of the party seem to think of this as a military campaign, but I have a feeling it is quite far from that - the lack of escape path, the disillusioned orcs, I have a feeling the massive path of destruction was meant to lead people to this location, where they could be picked apart piecemeal and pose little threat. I find myself decreasingly trusting my surroundings, since with the rough design, as I can guess, of this place, suggests that it is not a military camp but a killing ground, meant to devour without a word, those sent after Wormtail. Without a trace, they would likely send More after a time, and these small forces would pick apart the volunteers, until the Duke would send his own army to die here. I find myself curious about the ring I was given. I've been wearing it since I found it, in hope that it somehow gives a connection to our employers.
