I've never done a party without a "tank" or "healer", this should be very interesting. I've also noted that we have three half elves!

Well that makes the deicision on which mystery to take pretty easy for me then. Oracle of Battle, and I'm human, tank, and healer, all in one. Interesting. I shall be busy filling usually common party roles apparently.
Hey, how does the Ostravian Empire's military deal with a not-exactly Channeler, not-exactly Brigadier, boss? ![]() |

You are mercilessly lumped in with all the rest of the Channelers, and your macaroni picture of 'diverse character abilities' is torn up in front of you. Life was tough before indoor plumbing really started to catch on, and your characters have felt the boot of oppression once or twice.
-or, to put it non-crazily, Oracles are viewed with something of an awed jealousy. Religion is what binds Ostravian society together, and acts of God are very much a factor of daily life. Oracles are herded in with the clerics; the raw connection Oracles share with a deity makes the higher-ups in Ostravia uncomfortable- like a sorcerer forced to study in a wizard college, Oracles are somewhat stymied in temples. The societal view of Rogues has vastly shifted after it became apparent Legionnaire tactics were unable to win back the western continent. Previously, those who lacked the discipline to meet a foe eye-to-eye (scouts, assassination teams, saboteurs) were considered distasteful- with the call for new tactics, however, some folks are willing to consider that a Rogue can be a hero too. Fire Magi, given the duality of their abilities (swing swords, cast spells), have long been employed as shock troops in Ostravian battles. Really, what better way to solve a stalemate than send in, effectively, explosive lawnmowers? I'm very happy to see the enthusiasm for the game! I'm putting together your first challenge, and its quite energizing to see such readiness from you folks. Know that when I'm murdering your characters, I'm doing so with fondness in my heart. Work on your character sheets! 25 pt buy, max hp's at first level, 250 gp (with awareness that a large amount of your gear will be provided by the military- you'll be supplied with basic weapons, cheap armor, and rations), you guys have done this before. PM me with questions, or ask loud and proud here in the OOC. Here's looking forward to greatness! EDIT: Also, how awesome is it you guys don't have a straight up Tank! I'm looking forward to seeing how you all work to compensate. You do have a summoner, a rogue, and a spin-kicking enthusiast, so I'll try to curb-stomp you with a band of pure berserkers, and we'll have to see how your para-melee skills work. I've added a Characters thread. Post your mechanics, and perhaps a bit of fluff, in there. Last edited by chuckjones; Nov 16th, 2010 at 05:32 PM. |

On the contrary, I am scum. Feel free to look down on me, I deserve it. |

Hey All,
I am playing a Lawful Evil character, and whilst I do not wish to cause vast enmity between the whole party, I will be playing a role that may be somewhat antagonizing or prejudiced toward particular people/situations. While I will endeavour to keep this within my thoughts (which I will write for your amusement, your embarrassment, or simply dramatic irony) there may be overt outbursts, or venomous sarcasm. I need for you to understand that I am not wantonly attacking any of you, I am simply trying to keep my character in character! If I go overboard (which I doubt) I hope you understand that these are not personal attacks, I am just playing out my character as I have developed him. Granted, the DM might kibosh this, but I feel I am within my rights, and yours, to not go past a particular sense of decency with this gameplay style! ![]() Look forward to playing with you all! ~Moo ![]()

Three half-elves? So we're outcasts? The unwanted? The dispossessed? Awesome. :-)
I've started the character and contacted our illustrious DM for feedback. I'll post something more definitive shortly after I have it myself.

Wow, gone for a few days and look how much one can miss man! Glad to be on board with you guys though.
![]() I will have a finished character sheet up within a hour or so from now and I believe I am the last to attend to this unofficial head-count for the party, am I not? |

Yay! The gang's all here. I think. Right?
Also, Moo, I apologize in advance, but I'm having real trouble trying to follow the link for your character sheet. Now I'm not the DM, so if I'm not supposed to be nosy and look, well that's just fine with me. But I think it's because you've got the link to the sheet floating in a tt, instead of just doing the character's name being alternate text. I don't seem to be able to click that tt text to follow it or even to copy it.

Hey boss!
Since I would like to play up my character's near-history, wherein Max was once just another a soldier fighting sporadically with The Sands, more than her family history, I noodled on the subject of this foe-country you've made up. Would I be correct in assume more of an Arabian/Middle-East flair to that particular opposing empire? It's my stereotypical assumption with 'desert' and I want to make sure in-game references and such are at least totally not against what you were going for. Sheet's done, but I'm still a gal in the closet when it comes to admitting my utter distraction with D&D, so I haven't had a chance yet to put the nice big character sheet page up on my computer screen without someone catching me at it these past few days. I promise it exists, and will be posted properly soon, if we want to get started ![]()

Hey Guys,
Monk, Wizard, Rogue, Summoner, Magus and Oracle, you're all accounted for. I'm a little bogged down with, you know, stuff, but with the speed you guys have put into getting your characters all fleshed out, I feel I should reciprocate by getting the adventure up and running. Tomorrow is remarkably free for mois, so after I approve character sheets, I'm thinking we'll blast off! As far as open character sheets are concerned: I'd like for you guys, if interested, to be able to check out each others' stats so you can plot out your own FANTASTIC AVATARS accordingly. If you want to be secretive (like, say, your character's alignment is more oriented towards "quivering palm to the face for anyone caught snoring", or whatever, shoot me a message and we'll figure something out. You guys are pretty righteous, no one's MIA at all so far... god, I'll try to refrain from hitting the "Rocks Fall" button. That is my dedication to you. And Dragonsnack, you're a dorf. I can't not look down on you. Not that I would not if I couldn't, you see. The Sands. Yeah, kind of Middle-Eastern-y, worship the elements (Wind is very important to them; your character would know about sails and basic aerodynamics, having seen these put to use in warfare). They practice a kind of nomadic feudal system, cook with exotic spices, and absolutely have belly-dancing. Basically, as close to "Oriental" (by the colonial British defnitiion) as possible, just short of hackneyed. They are considered the largest organized threat to Ostravia, as far as things currently stand... D&D is a bridge to Satanism, narcotic addictions, and jaywalking, and you should never cop to it.
