As a note, I'm sure you've all noticed there aren't a lot of threads up yet. This is still under construction, and I still need to make a map anyways (since I couldn't make it until I knew all the nations that would occupy it) so take this time to make your army and such.
Oh, and because I forgot to mention it earlier, your soldiers (not your general) will be using the elite array (15,14,13,12,10,8) or a 15 point buy. If you have any more questions, go ahead and ask them, and I'll try to get an FAQ up, since this game will be using so many unique features.

Ugh been working on my army most of he day since acceptance and trying to balance flavor with power. Not to mention making room for all my ideas in my (seeming smaller by the minute) army.

Hah! You'd think with literally an army to play around with, you'd be able to fit all your ideas in, but that is never the case.

Hey, thanks for having be aboard.
I do have a couple of questions. I know there is a dedicated thread for this but since these are more "picking your brain while the game is under construction" rather then absolute rulings, I wasn't sure if it should go in there. You can throw the answers into that thread if you feel it is appropriate. For character creation, is there a hard limit to the amount of money you can spend on any one item? For instance, a 5 Economy score nets you 25 million gold. While it has been some time since I played in the 3.5/Pathfinder arena, IIRC that can buy a rather shiny sword. I'm not really interested in dumping all that gold into one item, but it is something that is on my mind. For the overall "nation" system and general flow of the game, what are you thoughts? Are there turns and if so how long does a turn last? Are there buildings we can buy that have an affect somewhere else(a dock that gives extra tax gold for instance). I guess to some extent, I'm wondering exactly what are we supposed to be spending our gold(in my case, my rather large amount of gold) on? Do we only have ourselves and our army, or do we also have things we can/should buy for the nation? I know the game is still under construction, but while making my character and my army, it may be useful to know the above. Thanks and again, thanks for having me aboard.

@Gun:We'll say that you can buy magic items with an enchantment bonus up to your magic score easily, and up to double your magic score at a 50% markup. Other magic items with a more unique effect, or one that can't be measured in enchantment bonuses will be treated as magic items with an enhancement bonus of the next most expensive rank.
For example, magic 2 lets you buy up to +2 weapons, or +4 at a 50% markup (in addition to the 50% markup that you are already paying for magic rank 2, giving a final markup of 125% base price). A cape of the montebank costs 10,800g. It costs more than a +2 weapon, but less than a +3 weapon. It would therefore be treated as a +3 weapon and would get the 50% markup. A flying carpet cost 35,000, more even than a +4 weapon, which would mean a magic 2 nation could not make it (though they could of course always buy it from another nation, but that would be later.) But one of the advantages of having a econ 5 nation was specifically that you could deck out your hero AND your army. You're rolling in gold, it only makes sense you would have the best of the best. Hell, you could even afford to deck your soldiers out in bling, have the pimp army XD. And yes, there are upgrades you can buy. Of course, you could always buy boats and cannons and stuff with that money too. The main upgrades will be defensive ones, paying to reinforce your walls with adamantite, expanding the size of the central keep, adding siege implacements. And I didn't say it in the thread, but the extra resources you have available will grant you some sort of bonus as well, which I'll have to make up as you pick them (another thing I need to work on ![]() As far as turns go, it will kinda sorta have turns. Each player will be allowed to have up to 5 outstanding orders, which will take a certain amount of time to complete (if you noticed this was referenced in the size statistic, and smaller armies will finish orders faster, allowing them to make new orders faster). Some of the orders I've already made (like tax collection, draft, drill, ect) but again, I want to keep it free form to accommodate any creativity on your guy's part. I would say that most things are measured in days, but a few are measured in weeks or even months.

How do treaties work with other nations? Say I want to send troops and in return get cash, technology or magic items; how would that work?
Haven't thought about city design for my nation. Most likely it will be all natural. Also, I have my military all set in my nation thread. Does it matter if other nations see how I have it setup? Last edited by Kshnik; Jul 17th, 2012 at 10:05 PM. |

Treaties will work exactly like they do in real life: you negotiate a deal with another nation, and exchange goods. There are also a few NPC nations you can barter with in the same manner. You will of course need to send an envoy to them, or meet them in person, but other than that, it's fairly straight forward.
It's up to you if you'd like your military statistics to be visible. I would probably recommend making it visible just so that the other nations know what you can do, and can make plans accordingly, but if you want to keep your ace in the hole a secret until you need it, you're free to do that as well.

I guess I'll go ahead and make mine visible to all then.
In regards to stat blocks for troops can we give a base stat block and then show what is added at level up? Otherwise that is a lot of character sheets. |

Ok The forsaken troops are now exposed to the world. Our motto "We may be from the swamps and jungles but we control the skies."
