Kyras squinted his eyes and gazed off in the distance. His left hand slid down to the longsword at his belt and his fingers tightened on the hilt. His face tightened into a smile. Kyras turned his head to the Tengu next to him. The raven on his chest plate looking odd next to the bird man. "Did you see that?" His turned once again to the forest and rolling hills beyond the tower. "I think I'm going to go take a look..."
Kyras took the stairs down two at a time, his plate armor banging against the walls and ringing loudly against the steps. A whistle brought a magnificent war horse. Rippling muscles rolled under a coat as black as night, a high backed military saddle and studded leather barding adding to its presence. Kyras put his foot in the stirrup and swung himself up, a smooth and practiced motion. A subtle shift in his stance caused the steed to begin moving into the wilds outside of town. "I am not sure of what I see," Chak-Chak replied to the man next to him. Chak-Chak kept his eyes on the horizon, attempting to discern the nature of the anomaly. He could hear the banging and crashing of the knight apparently falling down the stairs below him. Chak-Chak follows down the stairs to see if the man alright, reaching the bottom just in time to see him take off on his horse. Warning: rolls have been deleted from this post.

Chak-Chak, knowing it would be impossible to catch up to the knight on foot, finds his way to the nearest militia-man/town guard.
"Guardsman! A shadow approaches this town from the mountains. It is like nothing I have seen before and though it is no land whale, it may yet be dangerous. Keep a sharp watch on that dark form, while I go to seek the captain's opinion. Send word should anything change." After pointing out the approaching black mass, Chak-Chak rushes off to find the Guard Captain to warn him about the potential threat to the town. |

Kyras tightened his jaw. His left hand lowered to the saddle and untied the heavy wooden shield handing there before strapping it to his arm. The shield was painted with the sigil of his house, a raven in flight, a sword clenched in its beak, dripping blood. His right hand reached for the lance bouncing against the side of his steed. A long dark shaft of oak, tipped with a gleaming steel head, the piece was impeccable, with no imperfection to be found. A worthy purchase for a warrior.
Kyras dug his heel into his mount. He raced towards the hills, trying to make out what manner of creature, beast or man, made up the writhing mass of black. His shoulders and back tightened, preparing to jerk the reins and turn around should the size of the hose prove too dangerous. |

Ocran sat atop his tower, gazing out over the hills. His shift had just started, and if today was like any of the last, nothing was going to happen. He stretched his wing out and began cleaning, and straightening out the feathers before returning his view to area below him.

James, having had a few drinks last night with some guys from the guard, lazily proceeds to patrol through the main center of town, looking for anything out of the ordinary, and stopping here and there to say hi to a few shop owners and townsfolk that he usually sees around.

A long chain of expletives escaped his mouth, as Kyras yanked hard on the reins and sunk himself deep into his saddle in order to avoid the missile fire. Without any obvious signal, Jack, his steed, turned and started to gallop towards the town. It took Kyras a couple of seconds to tie his lance to the saddle once more. He then pulled the signal whistle to his mouth, thankful that it was secured with a string around his neck. Kyras breathed in deeply and let out a shrill shriek from the whistle, a warning to the town.

Chak-Chak keeps an eye out for other guardsmen to spread word throughout the ranks of the threat looming on the horizon. Upon reaching the merchant quarter, he runs toward the nearest guard patrol. "Have you men seen the captain today? It is imperative that I speak with him," he cawed, "A great shadow in the hills approaches this village and we must act as quickly as possible if we are to protect the people." Akemi walked toward the old part of town on stilted legs, pulling her hood up to hide her embarrassment. She hated having to play dumb to keep herself from standing out from the crowd. It was a necessary evil, but one that caused her face to flush with shame every time she had to act out this shallow façade. The only thing that kept her stalwart in these actions was the thought of what would happen if she chose not to. All she had to do was think of her father's angry face, human eyes burning with inhuman rage, as he taught her the consequences for daring to -
Her eyes flashed with determination and she banished the image from her mind, before it could get too vivid. For now, all she had to do was find this kid, collect her pay, and go home. "One day at a time," she told herself. "One day at a time." She tried to pay attention to her surroundings, but got lost in thoughts of dancing, music, and happier times. |

"Hey why don't you watch where you're going." James says back at the person who bumped into him.
James notices the kid shaking and his confusion about what is going on. "Wait kid are you alright? You seem to be shaking. Aw, you must be astonished by the man that lays before you. Do not fear young child, for I, James Moore, mean you no harm. If there is anything you need help with please feel free to ask." 'Smirk' |
