While I will not disclose the ritual itself, I should point out that in exchange for breaching your MP limit the MP cost skyrockets for the same gain. That 18 MP ritual is not the same as an 18 MP spell.

However, for the sake of suspense, it still breaks the MP limit, and he still casts it every morning when he's shut in his room.
