OK, I have selected three so far...
Numen Wraith | Barbarian(Viking)| Accepted Jeigh | Fighter (Viking)| Accepted Darkling | Bard (Support)| Accepted These three players have been moved to Characters and may begin on their PC Sheets. I have also eliminated all but three for two spots. ALL three are very good. They are: mountainbound | Paladin (Support)| Complete JoeNotJoey | Rogue (Support) | Complete GLM | Fionnlagh| Sorcerer (Support)| Complete I need some time to think about these. All have advantages for the group dynamics and great backgrounds. I hope to decide by later today. I know it sucks to wait, but this is a tough call. DiG

With apologies for the wait, but this was really hard. The results are complete:

I have opened (un-Private) all five character threads. You all know each other, so you can now 'see' each other. If something needs to be a secret, then just tag it as such.
OODM: You are free to look at each others sheets as they get made and help one another with suggestions as well.

C'est la vie. My compliments to those chosen. And, to Digorig, should a potion open up, my inbox is always open.

Glad to be part of this game. It feels like it's going to have longevity, and that's exciting.
Dig, compliments on your selection process. Every DM should be so thorough. |

"To Odin in mighty Valhalla!" But seriously, I'm very excited to be playing in this game and from what I've gathered by quickly perusing the other character threads, it looks like we're going to have quite an interesting and dynamic party!

Oh yeah! Mostly, just stuck designing a goddess on my end, one of elven origin. Looking forward to the mix of cultures, there, and I'm sure Savriel will promptly infuriate all her companions!
I think it'll be a tonne of fun just having the PCs interact, I can already tell which ones Sav'll latch onto!

Thanks all. No rush to finish PC sheets. I would rather they be thoughtful than rushed.

Noisy lurker here. The realism this game has is on the opposite end of the spectrum from what I do, so it'll be a great experience - to enjoy and learn from. It's not even a game I would apply for, but it's definitely a novel I would read.

I look forward to getting to know your characters better. Soon I'll have my character's backstory finished for anyone that wants to read it. I've been thinking about it for a long while, so it's pretty well done in my head, but it's a lengthy story to write.

In the spirit of excitement and enthusiasm for a new and promising game, is there anyone out there who is interested in doing some collaboration concerning character relations? My character tends to lean towards the quiet, observant type and I think some of the other characters would find him a fast and loyal companion. Takers?

My character is a mercenary type, but has been at it a while and is wealthy enough and has enough of a reputation to form a band of his own. I think I remember the application thread mentioning that the Viking players (You and I) are in search of the sword. It looks like I've been tapped as the one that discovered the sword (though from the wrong end), so you're likely a friend or at least old business associate that I trusted to join me in the search for one. The other players, IIRC, are supposed to be friends, family, or hirelings of ours.
I haven't looked other the other applications to see where people would fit in.

Well, Savriel has a certain lust for adventure (among other things) and would be very quick to latch onto more heroic types, as they make for the far better songs and poems. She's very invested in the notion of recording the tales of heroic folk, hoping she can record some important (and exciting) pieces of history, while managing to influence them in her own way. Subtly, or not so subtly.
She's a very skilled persuader and liar, so I imagine she definitely joined the group as a 'friend' sort of blustering her way through, looking for heroic vikings to play tag-along with. She's rather energetic and quick to make jokes, and has a rather flirtatious demeanor about herself, which occasionally gives off the impression that she doesn't take herself very seriously. This is in part due to her dual-heritage that makes her a bit of an outcast between two people, hence she feels herself drawn to other misfits, and vikings are certainly a special breed of misfit (the 'no magic' stuff is a tad amusing to her, too). She also has a very strong manipulative streak, and when she doesn't consider someone a friend or someone 'worth her time', she's been shown to be very callous and quick to discard people that are either boring or of no use to her. This is because she's lost a great deal of friends over the years, and aside from the party, she hasn't made very many that last longer than a few days or a week at best. I imagine she'd have a very strong fondness for Kjersti for being a warrior woman, among other reasons, and would be very attached to her and would take on the notion of speaking on her behalf as a heroine at times. Savriel is a bit of a loudmouth, though, so 'speaking on others' behalf' is something she does from time to time. At least it's never boring. I'm totally up for suggestions. She probably would see herself as the team's herald, doing her best with her wiles and words to find the group employment, food and lodgings wherever they go. She does have everyone's interests in mind, but she puts the interests of the group well above those of ordinary folk (especially if they're what she sees as narrow-minded or petty), as such I took the drawback 'Hedonistic' to reflect her worldview. Sorry for that little spiel, was trying to give a simpler introduction to my character, but mighta let it get outta hand just a lil' bit.

I was trying to find a way to make Kjersti hang with the Viking warriors, but I really don't think she'd fit. First off, she's a female warrior, which is very unusual. Second, she doesn't like fighting or war, and men make her nervous. Third, people would have heard about her devotional streak, and given stories of her very fast healing, I think the men might want to keep their distance.
Savriel would be the logical close-friend for Kjersti for a lot of reasons -- the bard being able to speak up would be a huge crutch for Kjersti. Darkling, I'd be open to working on a recent backstory with you. |
