I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you can attack while grappling. Once you pin an opponent that's it, it's up to him to try and break free, you do not have to keep making checks to keep him pinned. You may, in fact, then proceed to beat the sh!t out of him. And on his turn, when he tries to do something else, then he would make an opposed check against you - which you would probably succeed with your preemptive grapple check...

Pathfinder nerfed the hell out of grapple, but not that bad. You are not a slave to maintaining the grapple. Once you get someone grappled or pinned, it becomes a passive action and you are free to make your own attacks.

I've been wondering why Dwinn is being so cool about not doing anything to this prone/pinned vampire. You can only make unarmed attacks I think but god dammit, punch that motherf*cker in the face.

Looks like Pathfinder nerfed Grapple worse than I thought.
