The Arsenal Gilliam looks at the single silver coin, stifles a sigh, and fishes through his pocket. "Five, Six, Seven." He counts out, filling Victors palm with a small pile of brass. The likeness of that same gaunt monarch is imprinted on them, still wearing his barbed crown, though these coins can't be much more than a few years old given their lustre.
The map shows points of tactical significance, with only a token effort toward topography for strategic value. Rivers and coastlines, hills, forests, and sand dunes.
Several symbols show the positions of hostile raider clans and monsters (signified by claws), towns, and structures. (Teleportation shrines, a high tower in an eastern desert)
To the east, between the Fortress and Boume sits an extensive stretch of wasteland. Thomos warns you that wild things live there, that only well equipped and numbered patrols venture through it.
Directly south of the Fortress and Santmare, about 50 miles down, a sizable portion of the map is shaded over roughly with thick grey charcoal. Warnings are left there, telling the holder not to enter these lands.
The most interesting things Victor notices are the words around the title, the warning, and Mandre Lukano. All are written in two languages. One would be termed 'Old Gallanic' now, while another is the same angular script on the piece of vellum Victor had found amid the teleportation stones. Given the goings on around here, it would probably be some form of Dwarfen.
Gilliam's map also covers a small section westward of the fortress, but for now the rest of it fills in much of the information you'd been missing about the local area.
Victor loses his silver coin, and gets 7 brass coins in change.
