The Armistice Table
Please post your finalized application in the appropriate Dossier thread, and then feel free to play that character in the appropriate Prologue thread. If you have an app for each faction, then obviously follow those instructions twice, once for each character. Remember, posting in the prologue chapters is optional, but putting your finalized apps in the Dossier threads is mandatory. After you've got that done, feel free to say hi to each other here and socialize all you want!

If we haven't quite finished up a character application, can we still throw it into the app thread and begin RPing with the character, as we work at refining it?
Also, side note - the Phrase? I don't know, I'm not a linguistword 'Hors D'Oeuvres' messes with my mind. If I am not looking at it written down, I can pronounce it. But if it's within eyesight? Game over, everything becomes jumbled and they become 'those fancy appetizer things' |

I think that in some ways, GF's run time is what indirectly causes the stumbles that I feel it had. It had enough time to fully flesh out some of the supporting characters, complete with very good arcs, but the other characters were left in the dark or tossed to the curb. So when things begin wrapping up and plot threads start to wrap up, and these ignored characters come back, their changes in characterization feel inorganic. Like there was a story arc or two involving that character that I somehow missed? It almost makes certain aspects of the ending feel a teensy bit contrived, or even a bit rushed. That is not to say that GF is bad in anyway. It just falls ever so short of perfect for me, which makes the grievances I have with the show stand out that much more. The art, characters, and writing are all fantastic and manage to pull off some things that are usually show-killers for me, particularly having slapstick comedy paired with a more serious story line. Looking at you, Avatar and FMA:B. It has very fantastic foreshadowing, and other than the point noted above, everything feels like a (super)natural progression, something that a lot of similar shows have a problem with. Even its take on the various creatures and tropes that it bases its more episodic episodes around prove to be hilarious, creative, or hilariously creative, and it is a very solid 10/10. And OtGW had more than a few eyebrow raisers, man. It was quality stuff! And a touching story, filled with symbolism and references that can (and for me, did) eat up hours and hours of pretty pointless work. Never before have elderly felines sent me down a research rabbit hole, and hopefully never again. |

Yay. I just adore two-part applications. Did I miss that in the initial application thread?

Apparently I missed it. What two-part application?

Advertisement Applications as part 1, and RP as part 2?

Nope, can't be that. I was pretty damned clear about the RP not having (much of) anything to do with who was chosen:

Must have missed that. Sorry, my bad. Guess I'm still wary after my first brush with a two-parter.

You aren't kidding about the zombie game, though hopefully with Outplay wrapping up that is going to pick up

Hey, Arval thinks there are plenty of individual non-Elves who are fine citizens...some of his best friends are non-Elves!
Wait...no, they aren't. But you must admit, Lyssa and her entourage do seem a bit out of place, and Arval's reaction doesn't seem to be out of line with what she's used to. See, he's just a product of the system...he's the real victim here! It's both a treat and a challenge to play a character who is 'not good'...a treat because it opens up a whole range of actions and behavior that are off-limits in most games, and a challenge because you don't want to go too far and make a character that's too unlikable, or that can't get along with the rest of the party. Hopefully I'll get a chance to explore that further here in the near future. |

What a peculiar way to spell 'extremely effective'.

Imperfect characters are the bomb though! And a bias against non-elves, especially one that is almost definitely not an arcane caster, is a pretty reasonable in this half of the game. |
