Amid the Vast drifts a sentient hazard known as the Myst, which disguises each continent. Travel among the Realms can simply be done by ship, land, or air. However, in order to travel to an Immortal Realm, one must possess the correct key/s to activate the Gateways. Another way of traveling can be done via Spelljammer; these vessels can transit both space and time.

In the Beginning...
“It so started with the Known Worlds as they floated through the vast reaches of Wildspace. A collection of entities amassed to combat the erosion of known existence. The Great and Endless, brother and sister in creation of the multiverse, joined by their sibling of unlimited power, the Ao, creator of the gods. Disputed with Order and Chaos over the end of days. The War of Law was ignited as lawfulness was ripped from the worlds of Krynn, Oerth, Toril, Eberron, and Athas. Chaos pulled the Mist of Dread from that woven throughout the vastness of Limbo, and dubbed it the Myst. Order moved to counter this tactic by the creation of a Warrior of Law to contain the Myst. But the move was too late, and the Myst stole parts of those victim worlds until the Myst could no longer be controlled. And the Known Worlds became one.
“The various planes of existence, the Outer and the Inner and the Neutral were swallowed by the growing appetite of the Myst and bled into the swirl of what was to be known as the Great Kataclysm. Order saw its Warrior unsuccessful in holding the growing Myst and receded from the War of Law, for the moment it appeared that Chaos had won. The Myst grew and grew; swallowing worlds not known to exist and many that would not exist for eons yet. “The Blood War, fed by the will of Chaos, touched the mortal realms and true havoc reigned leaving whole realities destroyed and gods dead, it was the power of the Ascension that contained the Blood War and the vast armies of the heavens rained down smiting the forces of the evil from the mortal realms, yet the taint of true evil was forever ingrained into reality. “The Realms of Kataclysm was given title by Chaos. Order peered into the Well of All Knowledge in the infamous Realm of Death, and saw into the blackness the famed Realm of Eternity, thus he learned of the omnipotence of the entity named the Myst. Order returned to the Realms finding the Whole Known World of incredible size and growing still to contain those worlds assimilated by the Myst. Ao, father and mother of the Powers, watcher of the mortal realm, was likened to war with the gods as Order proposed another strategy to dealing with Chaos, and fanned the flames of the War of Law once again. Thus it is written in the Tome of Gods

Hmm so is this part of an ongoing ... or even better, upcoming campaign? It sounds like it would be a blast! Just crazy enough to work, you know? Anyways, kudos and if you start accepting threads anytime let me know.

Chatacters are always welcome, and because any and all worlds sooner or later to some extent, end up entwined in the RoK, it thus inherently makes nearly anything possible.

For everyones knowledge, the RoK has been in operation since 1999, it spread its wings on www.2d10.com (now defunct) and Yahoo Groups, but now owes DnD Online Games gratitude for its allowing the swirling chaos under its vast roof.

The First War of Law and the Great Kataclysm
At first the wars of history affected the worlds that had floated in isolation, only locally; never having caused outward damage. Each world has had it’s separate catastrophy, it’s Great Cataclysm, Armageddon, it’s Apocalyspe, it’s Ragnarok, it’s Time of Troubles; even the myth-strewn Outer Planes, the birth place of the longest war. The Blood War touched Krynn in the later days of the Fifth Age. The effect would nearly shatter that reality as ancient evils were brought about to scourge the lands, setting into motion a Dragon War where evil dragons prevailed over other other evil, leaving way to ruin and desolation. The Solamnic Knights proved to be the staunch defenders of the people of Krynn, battling not only the Dragonriders of Takhisis, but the atrocities of the Abyss. Such a war was devastating to the Solamnic Order. Whilst The Blood War ravaged Krynn, the powerful wizards Raistlin and Fizban, once again roaming the Prime Material planes, journeyed into the chaotic depths of the Abyss, and were met by Lord Soth, in challenge. Lord Soth, turning against the evil Takhisis allowed the wizards to squelch the embarkation of tanar’ri into Krynn. Leaving the fires of the Blood War extinguished for the moment. The ensuing Drgaon War soon destroyed itself, as evil dragon killed evil dragon leaving few whom hid among Krynn in fear of their own death. By capping the Blood War’s encroachment into Krynn, the wizards soon found other worlds that were subsequently affected. They traveled to each in an attempt to cease the slaughter. Many other warriors joined the battle of protecting the Material Plane from the Blood War, giving rise to the Immortals. The powerful magi Elminster and Mordenkainen joined Raistlin, Fizban, and the likes of a wandering mage named Merlin. Together the magi slowly foiled embarkations of the Blood War soon after they erupted. It became apparent as they journeyed that the Blood War was everywhere. In each subsequent world the magi sought out proectors, or founded protectors to shiled the people of the world from the demons of the Lower Planes. Giving rise to the Iconic Nine Orders of Knighthood. Two more powerful magi joined forces with the already formidable force of gentlemen, Urza and Gandalf, as well as the Chosen of Mystra. Together the near omnipotent power within these people crippled the Blood War, driving it from the Prime Material Planes. The magi whom halted this progression of doom were titled the Illumina Magus Supremi. Elsewhere, a massive tanar’ri king titled the Chaotic Swirl foresaw the attempted halting of the Blood War and he struck fiercely at the Prime Material Plane by magically harnessing the cursed powers that spawned the Domains of Dread. This interference sparked notice by the gods of each Prime World, the Blood War was soon to take on another light. It was when the Duke of Order sent his armies against the Choatic Swirl, the War of Law had begun. Again the world of Krynn was the first attacked by the Chaotic Swirl and his new found weapon, a tremendously more power version of the Mist surrounding the Domains of Dread. In its new form, the Myst covered Krynn as if it were a living, starving creature. The weakened Solamnic Order could not fight the Chaotic Swirl and Takhisis’s own warriors were used to keep them busy. The Magus Supreme was kept busy by the Evil Dark Queen, just long enough for Krynn to find itself now trapped with the RoK. To Takhisis’s dismay, she soon found that the deal she had made with the Chaotic Swirl would also sign her inprisonment. The mystical power of the Myst was found to have similar powers against those god-like figures as it did against realities. Those gods whom went to the aid of their worlds, soon joined their worlds in eternal entrapment by the Myst. The second world to be attacked by the Chaotic Swirl was Aber-Toril. It was here that the Duke of Order was able to directly attack the armies of the Chaotic Swirl. The world was ravaged for years by the outsider and evil influences, while collected heroes halted the advancement of Chaos. The powerful wizard Elminster called a meeting with the Duke of Order on the highest mountain in the Spine of the World. A pact was draw uniting the power of the Magus Supreme who guarded Aber-Toril and the Duke of Order agains the advancement of Chaos. The Myst further mutated under the guidance of the Choatic Swirl and was used against Cerilia and Athas with deadly efficiency. Both worlds were deeply torn and possessed not the power to shield it from the Myst unending hunger. Thus the Chaotic Swirl gained power. The Chaotic Swirl came unto the magical world of Mystara and found the physiology of the reality comparable to its own, This infused the two entities and th Swirl opened his own boundaries allowing the Myst to become one with his own form. This new Greater Myst tore quickly through other worlds and travled into Wildspace forming Myst Clusters. Many worlds were taken without any notion of being conquered by a tanar’ri demon. Always just behind, was the Duke of Order; to assist Order it joined forces with the arch-magi Merlin, but still proved no challenge for the almost omnipotent Chaos. The Chaotic Swirl finding it’s power constantly growing and it new-found hunger unquenchable, he moved back through the worlds it had already mastered devouring the life energies of its own army. The Chaotic Swirl, alone, assumed the mantle of the Myst, and again drifted into Aber-Toril with intentions on joining the mighty world within it’s many Realms. The Duke of Order already possessed a huge army here. With the collected might of the Magus Supreme and the Iconic Knighthood’s the Myst was held at bay. It would be the act of the god Cyric who would allow the Myst the upper hand. Still pained from a wound an age ago, Cyric allowed the Myst the battlefield advantage. Many of the Knighthood’s finest were lost to the banishing powers of the Myst. The Maguc Supreme were handled solely by Cyric, while the Myst draped Aber-Toril like a blanket. Though it proved too late, Cyric too found the powers of the Myst to be more than his own, and he was also trapped as the goddess Takhisis in Krynn. The Myst already laid claim to the Ethereal and Astral Planes, as well as the Inner Planes. Half of the Outer Planes found it easy to morph with the Myst. However, the last stand for the Duke of Order were the Outer Planes associated with that ideology. The Myst, now unchallenged in power swept through the Lawful Planes meeting resistance, but prevailing. After years of constant battle, the Myst possessed a hold on the Lawful Planes, however, the Myst’s hold on its total of conquered Realms was severely weaker than its original. Thus closed the First War of Law, on the planes of Mount Celestia. The Magus Supreme then called a conference among themselves representatives from the remaining pantheons, the Orders of Iconic Knights, and the chosen Immortal Prima. Called the Treatise of Balance. The Myst is since then been found everywhere, thus far it has been discovered with only a smudge of the true power it had possessed. The Duke of Order holds vigil over the newly created Realms Of Kataclysm and the Myst that had created it; awaiting for the Myst to rise again. The Realms of Kataclysm Known Collected Worlds following the Great Kataclysm at the end of the First War of Law, however those listed are only those that have been discovered. Krynn, Aber-Toril (Faerun, Zakhara, Kara-Tur, Rokugan, Maztica, Great Glacier), Oerth, Mystara, Athas, Cerilia, Sacred Lands, Eberron, Outer Planes, Inner Planes, Plane of Concordant Opposition, Ethereal Plane (Domains of Dread), Astral Plane, Negative Energy Plane, Positive Enegry Plane, Westeros, Aldis, Hyborea, Highpoint, Khemti, Known World, Krull, Middle-earth, Aryth, Nyambe, Lemuria, Atlantis, Umbragia, Ragesia, Azeroth, Siemo Pusu, Texnotqlan, Midgaard, Hall of Titans The Hall had arrived when it was conceived by the will of Judgment. It is the planar hosting ground for all of the pantheons of all of the Realms whom survived the Great Kataclysm. Only half of their true number remains. While the gods are amassed their total power remains, yet the power of the Hall is paramount, and will instantly nemesis any Powers save the might of the Tribunal. It is here, that gods are tried. The Tribunal members are not worshipped, but they are listed as follows: The Tribunal Ao = The creator of all things Judgment = The all seeing and multifaceted decision Doom = The end of all that is The Nine Iconic Knighthoods of the Realms of Kataclysm Knights of Solamnia Knights of the Temple Knights of Renown Musketeer Knights of the Throne Knights-Paladin of the Lady Knights of the Wyrm Knights of the Order of the Union Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom Knights of Myth Drannor Magus Supreme of the Realms of Kataclysm Raistlin Majere of Krynn Mordenkainan of Oerth Elminster of Aber-Toril Merlin of the Known World Gandalf of Middle-earth Immortals of the Realms of Kataclysm There were several Immortals created from the Great Kataclysm, to list them all here would make this reference too large to publish and remain never complete as Immortals are created in spurts; one’s death usually results in another’s birth. text found scrawled on a stone tablet signed the Mad Arjah

Winds of the 2nd War of Law
In the distant of the distant Realm of Abysht, far down beneath the acidic Lake Olionikt. From it’s depth crawls a burnt form; the withered husk of a human male, aged to a moment before his very skin would blow away on the dry breeze. His name was as simple as the magic that fueled him. Saligia’s heart was filled with disgust at everything and at nothing. He laid back while the older of his two godly siblings quarreled these past millennia, and still he fumed. The Law and the Chaotic Swirl where joined by two siblings, lost to the limitless times where mortals attained god status and attempted to wipe the heavens clean. However, the man-made-gods failed. The Eternal Powers, the first pantheon of which Saligia belonged, escaped and slumbered to a time when the gods became weak. The War of Law was such a time. Saligia stalked up to the very highway he had journeyed along to his place of slumber. Edged with coal pillars and cobbled with fir-stones, the Great Road was the only true path from the Godly Realms to every Realm. Shaking from his ‘rebirth’, Saligia approached the night hag, who turned to eye the famished and gaunt human. Her stomach grumbled at the thought of a new meal, after fifty days on the Great Road an enfeebled human was well on the menu. She cackled, “Ah, can I possibly point you the way ‘home’?” Not realizing who Saligia truly was and the unholy power he held within his frail body she turned on him attempting to whip him down. The magical lash slapped him with terrible smak-crack that echoed through the valley of Lake Olionikt. Saligia smiled, feeling the bite of the lash, and he to unleashed his own magic. Screaming out and paralyzing the night hag in terror. Then, since the incantation was indeed powerful, he began to eat her from foot to head, while she watched helplessly. She could not scream, she could only cry crocodile tears as her own life was slowly extinguished. Satisfied, he began his next endeavor. He wanted an army. The quickest way he could gain the minds of simpletons was defeat the master of the simpletons. Saligia required an army to finally ruin his sibling, Pheciaj, for the two were destined to meet. Years, decades, ages passed allowing Saligia to become entwined in the numerous lore of the man-made-gods. He worked in the shadows removing threat after threat, god after god. Amassing the disheveled simpletons who followed them under his own twisted banner of truth. The War of Law saw his rebirth, and the Time of Troubles was played out on more than one Realm. For it was that tumultuous moment that Saligia and Pheciaj met, on a little known Realm called Atalanteah. The resulting battles first waves of assault sent a ripple of destruction through all the Realms. Saligia sent forth a hellish spell dubbed Tides of the Sundering Wave to vanquish Good once and for all. The Realms of Kataclysm were thrown amuck in its aftermath.

This tale of the Realms of Kataclysm comes with the ending of the 2nd War of Law. The great forces of Saligia and Pheciaj battled as had been the prophesy spread among the gods shortly following the 1st War of Law, where the strange and powerful Myst had gripped the Realms. The unwitting pawns that Saligia used channeled the Myst, carefully and steadily under the very gaze of the Duke of Order and engulfed the Crystal Sphere known as Falx. The secret of Falx being that it had been the birthplace of the vile tarrasque, and harbored many hundreds there in utter dormancy do to their advanced age. The occurrence that proceeded brought sheer nightmares to life on every world at once as numerous embodiments of doom, carnage, and destruction reaped the lands of mortal and god, ripping asunder cities, kingdoms, continents, and worlds. Among the dead lay numbers that cannot be counted; many heroes fell to the gapping maw of the apocalypse. Pheciaj and Saligia were destroyed, creating the Vast in the wake of their mighty explosion. Within the Vast drifted the remains of the Realms that survived the tarrasque invasion.
Remaining Lands of the Realms of Kataclysm The drifting realms of the 2nd Great Katalysm. Pathfinder: The worlds of Golarion and the solar system of Golarion remain mainly untouched. Dragonlance: Krynn exists within the cosmos of Gorarion, but drifts always on the opposite side of the Sun from Golarion. Dark Sun Athas exists within the cosmos of Golarion, barely within view (as a star) to Krynn. It also drifts out of sight from Golarion. Greyhawk/Forgotten Realms/Eberron: The worlds of Oerth, Aber-Toril, and Eberron were ripped apart; leaving their largest civilized centers and regions intact, and scattering (or destroying) whole regions that had not the power to fight Saligia and its onslaught. The massive cities of Greyhawk (Oerth), Sharn (Eberron), and the numerous cities of Forgotten Realms still float about on their own large 'islands', adrift in the sea that is the Vast. Mythic Earth/Birthright/Mystara: Of the worlds Cerilia, Tellene, and The Known World, only islands of their culture remain adrift in the Vast; again, centered on the cultural strength of their perspective regions. So does those of the whole of the mythic ‘Known World’. The Wild Space/Phlogiston: Planetoid masses no longer remain, the Crystal Spheres have all been shattered where now exists the Solar System around Golarion. Far into the distance, twinkle stars…possibly other worlds, realms that had survived the Kataclysmic war, but for the moment they remain too far to reach. Planescape The primary structure of the planes is largely unchanged. In frequently, solitary floating land masses drift aimlessly around the shattered Plane of Concordant Opposition. Sigil, has become a huge and rich ruin, as the many races have left or died. Three Great Forces of All Ao, Creator of All Judicar, All Seeing Chuthlu, End of All Pantheons of the Realms of Kataclysm Golarion (primary) Aber-Toril Krynn Oerth Cerilia Athas Eberron Mystaran Goblinoid Draconic Giantfolk Elven Gnome Dwarven Seely Court Unseely Court The Known World The True World (possibly more exist) The Nine Knighthoods of the Unknown (Nine Unknown of the Planes) Knights of Solamnia (knowledge) Knights of the Temple (martial arts) Knights of Renown (exploration) Musketeer Knights of the Throne (technology) Knights-Paladin of the Lady (diplomacy) Knights of the Wyrm (life and death) Knights of the Order of the Union (psionics) Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom (magic) Knights of Myth (espionage) Seven Sisters of the Weave Sylune Alustriel Silverhand Dove Falconhand Storm Silverhand Laeral Silverhand Arunsun Alassra Shentranta Silverhand Eresseae Qulie Silverhand Five Magi of the Tower Raistlin Majere Mordenkainan Elminster Mrryddn Strahd Von Zarovich Three Elements of the Myst Fear = The Feeling Horror = The Face Terror = The Grip
