When casting a spell, be descriptive....have fun with doing so. Don't just use the IC portion of your post to bluntly state what spell you're using, the mecahnics can go in the OOC portion. Consider the V,S,M that spells have as components as a guide. Verbal. Are you speaking in Common? Elven? Some foreign tongue to evoke your magick? Some folks use other colors for their other languages, some just make up words and point out it's in something other than Common. Somatic. Does your character wave his arms? Raise them skyward? Does he just point at a target and then twitch his nose? Does he adopt a different stance for each spell? Material. Does he have to pull anything from a pouch and throw it down or spread it around? Is there a holy symbol needed to be grasped and/or presented? Last edited by zevonian; Jun 16th, 2013 at 09:23 PM. |

I think this must be a really dumb question, but...
For clerics, in the Pathfinder system, it says they generally follow a deity, and can't choose domains contrary to that deity...but I can't find a list of deities and their alignments?? I googled it, and found a wiki that lists Pathfinder deities and alignments, but I'd prefer a more official list, just so I know I'm playing within the rules. What section of the rule book is this in?? Thanks! ![]() |

In the PF Core Rulebook, a list of the deities is available within the section on Clerics.
It's a table nestled in between the Domain descriptions. |

Thank you! I still can't find it in the SRD on the clerics page, but I'll use the link sammich gave.

The PRD doesn't have it, was specifically referring to the Core Rulebook, be it in hardback or PDF purchased from Paizo.

Depends on your experience. While you wait, I suggest you look over the SRD or PHB on your chosen platform. Reading the material and seeing what peaks your curiousity will get you ready the best.

Excellent. I'm pretty new to D&D in general and I'm actually looking through the PHB now... I can't wait to get started.
Thanks for the advice! |

@Muttchops: I'd suggest thinking up what you want to play.
1st level character. Class, race, brief background. Don't get too worried over the mechanics, just ask yourself what type of character you'd like to portray. |

I think I've picked out a class and race and such... I've even been checking out the skills and feats.
I just need to think about background now I guess... I'll see what I can come up with. |

honestly, start with a fighter if you are very new. Easy to stat up, only a couple things you can do, and not many choices along the way. You can then learn the basics/mechanics, and once you are comfortable with those, making a wizard or druid is easier.

Well, it has been years and years since I've played a pbem/pbp game. I'm feeling old and rusty, but summer time is the perfect time to shake some of this rust loose.
