Too easy. Léon inspected the door and its surroundings. When he was sure it was safe, the thief slowly pushed the door open.

Leon doesn't find anything amiss and so pulls the door open carefully, revealing...a wall. There was what appeared to be a solid brick wall directly in front of him. An illusion? A trap? Or perhaps there was more to the indentation key below?

You have got to be kidding. Léon was growing frustrated. That paranoid bastard. It is almost like he was expecting company. Now where is it? The thief looked around for an easier method to bypass this obstacle. Or maybe the lady downstairs has a key.

The wall doesn't just seem like a wall, it is a wall as far as Leon can tell. There's no hollow behind it and the edges don't show any workmanship to them. The only thing of note he finds is a very faint line that goes all around the wall, a inch or two away from the floor, ceiling and adjoining walls. It almost looked like the outline of another door, but there was no mechanism he could find here to operate it, and he very much doubted there would be. He was dealing with some sort of magic here, and he was sure the indentation was the key, literally and figuratively. If he was Lucius, then he certainly wouldn't keep the key lying about, so he could either risk trying to see if he trusted his sleeping wife enough or retreat for now and come back with backup. He had seen enough to give them more than a few questions and perhaps with the right help he might be able to get further.

I need that key. Or maybe? Léon extended his senses and tried to Clairvoyant sensepush them beyond the door. If only he could catch a glimpse, then he would know if it would be worth it to come back. Who am I kidding? I will defeat that damned door!
Off course. The thief's attempt at scrying was expertly blocked, so Léon crept downstairs. He quickly scanned the room, maybe Lucius had left the key with his wife. Léon did not expect it - Lucius seemed too paranoid to trust his spouse. Then his eye fell on the burning candle. Aha. As silent as he could, Léon picked it up and dripped a bit of liquid wax in the indentation. At least I will know what the key looks like. After procuring the imprint and cleaning the indentation, Léon left the room and headed for the exit. Last edited by Battlechaser; Mar 16th, 2014 at 03:28 PM. |

Leon managed to make a copy of the key, which appeared to be a holy symbol of Airis, and slip out of the mansion while things were still hectic. It wasn't exactly a successful investigation, but he had found two places that warranted further checking out, although he might need a little help from a mage next time.
