Eloise for her part readies a shot for when one of the Erinyes come to a window to look for who set off the trap.

They hear noises and movement from above, but not even the ever-alert Eloise, keeping watch outside, caught any sight of the Fiends or their allies. Everyone else moves around on the lower floor, mostly through the back door, although Misa slinks into the main room, cocking her head from side to side in a strange manner - presumably to get a better idea of her surroundings somehow - and Rhys moved to open the door to the last room. He speaks up using their mind link soon after. "The civilians are in here. Bound and gagged. That leaves us with the unfrendlies being upstairs." ~MTWC

Wait. Let me check for traps first. As Léon tried to find telltale clues for traps - aside from the boreal wind-device it seemed almost to easy- before he entered. Someone is praying in infernal upstairs, we'd better get up there quickly.

Humility nodded slightly to herself at hearing that the people were safe. At a glance it seemed like the fiends weren't intending to use them as hostages, but had simply wanted them out of the way while they concentrated on supporting the red dragons, alive and tied up to be taken as slaves when they left. Hopefully. She wasn't making any assumptions, but simply thought it would be nice if things were that simple. For now they needed to engage the enemy and stop them healing those dragons as soon as they could. Mirik and Shadow couldn't last forever. She wasted no time slipping past Didina, going round the corner and up the stairs.
Reaching the landing, she put her back to the wall next to the door and listened to hear what was on the other side. |

As soon as Humility steps foot on the top-most floor she feels a freezing cold wind pick up all of a sudden, howling in her face and attempting to push her back down the stairs. It seems that the Fiends had left another of their wind traps at the top of the stairs too, and like the first it isn't showing any signs of ending right away. [Humility must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or take 27 cold damage and be slammed into the wall at the bottom of that section of the stairs (scraping against the roof first) and taking an additional 9 bludgeoning damage. Success and she avoids it all.]

Nallaul moves to AD9. He decides not to spell cast for now. Hopes that the foe is not summoning it's friends.

Most of them spend the next few seconds moving around, with Humility sprinting up the stairs and setting off another wind trap before Misa follows. The Drow moves north while Misa heads south and opens one of the doors. "Two in here. Erinyes and a Cleric or Divine caster of some sort." The caster in question calls out another Infernal prayer before moving towards the open door, while the Erinyes switches to its sword before moving to protect the caster. Rhys, Morgan and Didina all head to the stairs, just outside of the wind's reach which is battering down the upper flight of stairs. Meanwhile, Elouise and Leon head to see to the hostages - Leon to check for traps and Elouise to see to the hostages. Mrith soars above the inn, searching the western windows for enemies before setting fire to the roof with her fiery breath. ~MTWC

Humility calls on her training as she is hit by the trap and with one burst of pure focused concentration, she shrugs off the effects and pushes through the wind. Getting onto the landing she heads through the door and goes right at the second floor corridor until she reaches the first floor, reaching out to open it while almost simultaneously hearing Misa report finding enemies on the other side of the stairs. Unfortunately she can't see them from where she is so she instead focused on opening the door first, wanting to give the monk as much help in seeing any enemies coming from other directions as possible. Pushing the door open fast from where she is standing just to the left, she holds her blade ready to respond to any attack.

Léon held up his right clenched fist to indicate that Eloise should wait while he checked the door for traps. The thief really did not want to repeat the debacle at the front door, so he took his time for this one. Having the hostages incinerated because he was not up to it was not one of Léon's options.

Humility pushes open the double-doors, revealing one person waiting on the opposite side of the doors to her. The dark-haired man was wearing a black breastplate with Invidia's iconography etched all over it, as well as tattooed across one side of his face. In one hand was a rapier - Invidia's favoured weapon - and in the other was a shield with a likeness of the Lone Lord on it. The Drow felt like she should know the man, who seems momentarily surprised to see her before his face breaks into a wide grin. "Oh, I must have been truly blessed for Him to have delivered you to me, El'lina. We've missed you." More worryingly, Humility hears Misa talking about two people being in opposite corners of that room. If this warrior of Invidia was in the opposite corner to her then why couldn't she sense the presence of the one in the other? Meanwhile, Misa moves to block off the exit for the Erinyes and divine caster, snapping out with a surprise kick and following up with a series of punches and kicks, although only the initial kick and her first strike manage to hit, with the Erinyes managing to quickly get over its shock. Morgan attempts to dispel the wind trap but fails while Nallaul moves to try and catch up with the others while Leon searches for traps before giving Elouise the go-ahead to enter the room and tend to the hostages. Misa warns everyone that the (presumably) invisible creature had moved to obstruct the stairs - likely in order to surprise anyone trying to come up to help the other two. ~MTWC

The dragon considered burning the roof some more until she'd really tear through it but from everything she heard through the link she guessed people might be needed her downstairs.
Mrith here. I'd like to sweep down and breath through a window, if that would be useful. She tell me where. Else I'll break in through and try to find you all. Assuming they would give her some kind of indication, Mrith would fly down on the side of the building where the room is occupied by enemies Misa is working on check windows as she fly by, until she'd see her and those within. When she'd find them, she'd take a deep breath and shout a thunderous cry that should shatter the glass and resonate through the skulls of the two inside, its echo weighing them down. "SURPRISE! You're trapped! And dead oh very soon." Last edited by Blue; Nov 17th, 2014 at 10:01 PM. |

Mrith's thunderous breath bursts through the window and their squares are now considered difficult terrainbreaks the chairs and desks in the room to pieces and doing severe damage to the thick wooden walls and doors in its path. Unfortunately, the caster is able to avoid the brunt of it by raising his shield at the last minute, although he doesn't escape harm completely and both of he and the Erinyes entangledseem disorientated by the thunderous shout. With a moment's concentration Didina activates her True Seeing power and is quick to let them know what they're up against. "It's a Dogai. Also known as an Assassin Devil, although other than the obvious I can't say I know much about them. Not exactly within Inanna's domain of interest." The last remark is 'spoken' rather dryly. With his piece said, the warrior of Invidia strides forward, taking the sublime strike from the be-goggled Drow warrior fluff description for a critical hitin order to exploit a slight gap in her own defences which allowed him to sink his rapier through her side, narrowly missing anything major but dealing severe damage nonetheless. [Humility takes which is funnily enough the exact same damage she dealt him38 damage from the attack.] The Erinyes, still disorientated by Mrith's attack slashes about haphazardly with her sword so wildly that Misa doesn't even feel the need to dodge. Meanwhile, Rhys delays his own actions, waiting for news on the Dogai or the trap before rushing into the fray. ~MTWC

As Humility hesitated to respond to having yet another one's of the Lone Lord's flunkies calling her by her birth-name and acting so familiar, the man with the tattooed face who gave a disturbing sense of familiarity that she didn't want to deal with immediately moved forward to attack. Regardless of her unsettled mental state, her body moved according to her training and original intention to strike any enemy foolish enough to get close, her blade cutting a clean line through the air with marvellous focus and precision. She felt a moment's satisfaction and the blade cut into him, only to be jolted as she felt the rapier pierce clear through her side, the man having ignored his own damage to attack her with a simultaneous exchange. Even she couldn't dodge and attack at the same time. She grunted at the sickening sensation of cold steel going through her flesh, gritting her teeth and suppressing the desire to cry out as the shock and pain his. Warmth soaked into her clothing and drops of her blood splattered on the ground from the rapier as it withdrew, but she wasn't shaken by a wound of this level. As soon as she coolly evaluated the damage and confirmed that no organs had been hit and the blood loss wasn't at a dangerous level, she pushed aside the injury and carried on as if it hadn't happened. Her will was adamant and she automatically stifled the old rush of fury that her old self would have indulged in over her wounded pride, instead concentrating on the best manner in which to deal with the situation. The decision was obvious. She needed to take down this man in order to be able to help the others with the assassin devil, which meant attacking without delay.
Still gritting her teeth she couldn't resist the urge to retort bitterly to the man in a taut tone. "El'lina, El'lina, El'lina. I'm sick to the damned teeth of you bastards acting like you know me. Enough already. My name is Humility now!" She lets her very real frustration and resentment touch her voice at the last, but doesn't let it go to her head. Immediately she lowered her body, readied her swords in each hand and lunged forward. Her blades swung one after another to strike successive blows and as they moved to strike her fighting spirit surged across the surface of the swords and ignited into raging flames that burned like an inferno and yet didn't scorch the metal at all. |
