[Game Thread] Chapter 6d: A Blight Upon the Earth

Closing his eyes Léon extended his mystical senses until he could accurately 'feel' his surroundings. Deftly he slipped after his... dragon? companion. The thief concentrated and started to assemble ectoplasmic material into a roughly humanoid shape.

She could use a little more preparation but it wasn't certain just how much time they had.
Not thinking much about it now was preferable. Getting all stressed out would be no good, even though her heart was beating faster already.
She turned the corner and stepped into the hall. Before anything she breathed a cloud of cold darkness in front of her.
Whether or not she had seen them coming or if they were still on their way there, the dragon growled, raising her voice.
"I know not why you followed after us, ruffians, but our lady is well protected. She will not be taken by you filth. Leave now or I will obliterate you."
If she could have them waste some time trying to discuss things, probably by reassuring her that they are not after their lady, it would be even better. Perhaps they would even try to bargain with her for non-interference or compensation for taking her lady's new pet away.

[Makenshi]

The prostitute starts to gather a few personal possessions from her drawers, as well as some more practical clothing from he wardrobe. "There's a hidden exit in the owner's rooms. We can get there by going further down the corridor - away from the way you would have come in. It'll take us to the roof, and from there it should be relatively easy to get to the ruined temple."

Misa seems happy enough with their plan although she does appear to be a little distracted for a moment before shaking her head as if to clear the cobwebs. "We should avoid travelling across the roofs for long. Zi-" She cuts off before saying too much of the Goddess' name. "-our friend told us that travelling the roof would be dangerous with the Fiends about and we don't need to fight on another front."

There was no sign of the group as Mrith looked out, although she did hear the sound of footsteps walking up the stairs from earlier. Footsteps that paused when she spoke. It was the voice that Leon recognised as belonging to Layva that rang out. "'Your Lady'?" She barked out a harsh laugh. "And what lies has she spun you? That she is a runaway noble? A princess? Or perhaps even a humble, open-legged priestess of Inanna? Priestesses who are forbidden to prostitute themselves for money I might add. Your gullibility is your own problem though, but I'll tell you what I told those fool guards and that fool boy: we don't care a whit about you. We want the whore, whatever face it is she's wearing at the moment and whatever it is that she's calling herself."

Misa frowns at the comment of Inanna, turning back to the prostitute. "She has a point. You claim to be a follower of Inanna, but prostitution for material gain is against their teachings."

The prostitute frowns. "Really, is this the time to have this conversation? But if you insist then I did say that Layva was one of the reasons I left Sharak. I had...disagreements with my sisters and brothers on how to better support Our Lady's Church."

Mrith glared at Misa and the Sharakan woman, who seemed too busy to talk to get going.
Whispering: "Get on with it. Slowly at first so they don't hear you on your way out."

It was time to make some noise to at least cover their escape.
She retrieved her eternal rod of conviction and used it spell upon herself.

Her voice thundered.
"My lady is a young noble of the finest blood. This whore you seem to want so desperately now has the honour of being her glorified pet. She will not leave without one. I care not for your nonsense. You will leave us be, come and face your deaths or offer compensation for our lady's trouble. May it be generous indeed for one so fine."

After ordering his Level 6, xph p. 188 + heavy deflectionconstruct to kill anyone who would try to come closer, Léon whispered. "She's right." He put his left hand on the priestess, his right on Misa. "Flee now. Bitch later." The thief turned towards Mrith and mouthed. "Port out. Now!" With that he ripped a shadowy hole in reality. Léon stepped through and ended at the front door of the aforementioned temple. Immediately he clung to the shadows.

Reading his lips, she almost regretted not staying a little bit longer to keep them busy but the man was right. They had already been distracted enough. Leaving now could perhaps set them on a wild goose chase as they tried to make way beyond the dark cloud and then search for them. Probably through that escape route the Sharakan had mentioned. And they wouldn't find them.
"You have been warned."

She guessed he was about to send them off and he needed physical contact with everyone to get his magic going so she used her tail to reach out to him and touch his arm. If he couldn't send them all away, she could always find her own way out.

They successfully escape and regroup at the abandoned temple, with Leon making quick work of the lock so that they can slip into the abandoned building and out of sight. Inside was a large open area, presumable where the congregation would have gathered, although it looked like it had seen better days. Misa, quickly moved further in, shifting position quickly to get an idea of the room. "Three more exits, one going up, one going down and one to the side. I think that doorway-" She points. "-leads to the priest's room. Judging by the carvings this was a temple to Fislasyth."

She hadn't expected to leave so soon, but certainly wouldn't complain.
Sitting, she coiled her tail around herself, feeling calmer now that she wasn't bound to battle.
"What now? We go back? I can carry about four hundred pounds on flight so I may not be able to get us all away. And the journey won't be too comfortable."

[Battlechaser]

Keeping an eye on the street from a window, but making sure he can't be seen, Léon answered. "We wait here. For now. If they can find you here, it means they have a way of tracking you." He turned toward his draconic companion. "Mrith? Could you search her for magical trackers?"

"And you, Miss Levayan. You need to come clean with us. Why do they really want you? What exactly has gone awry with the Lakarn?" He paused. "I'm reluctant to bring you closer to my boss before this is cleared out."

[Blue]

Usually the magical trinkets were what didn't burn along with the bodies so well. She could change back for softer hands to paw about much Misa could apparently do just as well with her special sense.
"I could try but searching isn't something I've ever done much. I can get an idea whether an item is magical or not and what it might do if I can examine it. But I have to see it first."

[Makenshi]

Miss Levayan gave Leon an annoyed look. "Come clean with you? You're the ones who came barging in and warned me of the threat. I've told you everything I know, and the only thing that makes sense is that the Fiends are having a coup - targeting rival churches and cults in order to strengthen themselves. It'd explain why they're fighting themselves mostly, rather than attacking humanity as a whole."

As far as searching her went, the prostitute was still wearing a silken robe over...well...not much by the looks of it. She had picked up a few things when they looked to be leaving, mostly jewellery and a small bag, but she obviously didn't have much on her, and what registered as magical were mostly minor transmutation effects along with what looked to be a ring of prestidigitation and another ring which mimicked an arcane mark - both of which she was willing to demonstrate for them.

eyes on the prize -even though it was difficult to not let his eyes drift off down gentle sloping curves. Focus! He turned to Mrith and Misa. "What do you think? Do we take her back home?" The prositute still taught he served a different king, and Léon was not planning on enlightening her just yet.

Mrith winced.
"We could. But we're here mostly to help out. Getting her off the heat is one thing but the rampage is not over here."

[Battlechaser]

"So we lure them to a place of our choosing and kill them off." Léon responded. "We must keep the Lakarn at a distance and watch out for that spy. He'll strike when we're distracted. "

[Makenshi]

Misa doesn't seem keen on that idea, which was hardly surprising for a Serokai. "Do we even need to start a fight? If we take Miss Levayan to a temple to the Saviours outside of Tsuun then she should be safe. Much moreso than if we get involved in a fight."

The woman in question doesn't seem particularly invested in either option. "If you do intend to start a fight with her then I wouldn't get too complacent about keeping your distance. She's an Eldritch Disciple which means she knows divine magic as well as warlock magic, even if she isn't a very strong mage in terms of either. Unfortunately I can't tell you what to expect from her beyond that and an attitude."

"We should-" Whatever Misa was about to say is interrupted by an urgent-sounding telepathic message from Zilira.

"Things are deteriorating in Feid despite two of the Seven having been killed. It seems that Humility neglected to tell us that she was not just a Godling, but Invidia's Godling, and with two of his siblings gone daddy is hell-bent on taking her with him. We could use extra hands in case he calls in his followers or an army of fiends while he's being kept busy."

Miss Levayan obviously wasn't privy to the message as she looks on at Misa. "We should what?"

"Get out of here as soon as possible before that group realise that we've left."
