New Player? Try a Solo Game! 13th Age App Thread

Hey, are you new to the site and confused about how play by post gaming works? Maybe you are new, have some idea how the site works but want a chance to try a game out to make sure this is what you are looking for. Or maybe you just want someone to walk you through the basics in a game like atmosphere.

Well if any of those sound like you then why not check into playing a solo game called..........

The Tower of Mage Newby

This is a solo game to teach new site members and players on this site the basics to help them along. If you are interested please post here. Just post that you would like to have a game. You need not have a character concept decided upon, or character sheet created, prior to being accepted.

Every new member who wants to play will be accepted!

However, to keep this as manageable as possible, there are a few things we ask of you:

• PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE GAME!!. Our DMs' time is limited and there are many waiting, it doesn't matter which version you play with regards to your mastery of site mechanics - in fact all games have the same basic plot, so it wouldn't do any good to play multiple versions. So, choose one, and apply for it only. If you want to change your choice at a later date, PM me or one of the other NPSG GMs, and ask that they move your post.
• Please make only ONE (1) post in this thread. Making more posts won't put you ahead in the queue, and may annoy the GMs who have to work their way through extra posts.
• You will only be contacted through private messages if you have 4 or more posts, so please ensure that you have 4 or more posts.
• Only post in this thread if you want to play 13th Age. If you want to play a different edition, please visit the relevant thread:

• If you notice that there are no new players waiting, that's because we've gotten them all! We delete posts as they come in so we can keep track of who has a game already. If there are no posts, that's because you're up next, so feel free to make one.

New Members Some of you may have noticed that your username is in Yellow, this is because you are a brand new member and have been labelled (and restricted) accordingly. Our efforts to maintain a spam-free environment for gaming are one of the reasons we have done this. All you need to do is make 4 posts that count towards your post count and your member name will change to Blue and you will gain all the privileges of a 'regular' member. You can read more about all that here.   Pretty much everywhere, especially game forums, will increase your post count towards that minimum. The sooner you get to that magical number of 4, the sooner you will be able to send PMs and be 'normal'. Some Additional Remarks We are all doing this on a voluntary basis and dedicate a huge piece of time out of our lives to this. It could take some time for us to reach your post, but please be patient - we like to play, too! While you're waiting, feel free to check out other parts of the site like General Discussion or apply for "normal" group games in Games Seeking Players. For those of you who are new to the game, try reading through the SRD while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother. You can also check out Pelgrane Press' website to get more of a feel for the setting and style of the game (and to read up on things like icons!) You can also check out this section for examples on how to create a character.

Addendum Note to all applicants: For those of you that want to mull over character options before your game starts, you should focus on a 1st level non-evil alignment based character. Different GMs may allow different source material, but for 13th Age based games, you will likely just be using the Core Rulebook material.
