HQD - I appreciate the sentiment. I do not want to 'bump' anyone. As the DM, I get to 'play' in two of the adventures. What I am really looking for is a party that will minimize the amount of thinking/planning that I need to do for the character. Pick the adventure, decide where to go, tell my character where he is in the marching order. Maybe even give him some suggestions on what spells to throw.

Hey Purple, I'd suggest our current party but we're already outside the walls so not sure if Mighty, the rest of the party, and you would want your character popping up in the forest or having silently been along the whole time (though I'd be perfectly ok with it).

@Konton: Burned through TAZ archives a few months ago, but I'm a few episodes behind now, and not doing much podcast listening.
I also really recommend Total Party Thrill as a 5e podcast; not a play but just discussion, but I've learned a ton from that. |

@Konton & oztk: I've kept up with TAZ since episode 1, though lately I've fallen off the wagon. Some out-of-podcast fan controversies and the ruleset/pacing of the current story arc have put a damper on my eagerness to continue.
It's a bit hard to earnestly Because it's probably not to everyone's tastes.recommend, but I really enjoy the Party Roll podcast. Their audio quality is good, and with Party Roll, it feels like being at a table with friends - as opposed to the constructed/directed nature of podcasts like TAZ. They're a bit rude, crude, and lewd in their irreverent humor and tabletalk, but that's a feature to me (but could be a flaw to others). They swap 5e DMs, and also play Savage Worlds on occasion. |

Are you thinking of putting a party together? It is just if so there are some adventure hooks here, and you can try and organise a group here. If you are Purplerook, our DM has a character to join your group. His character is here

I was hoping to either start or join a party. Have to admit I'm a bit behind memorizing the hooks since I was waiting to get approved first and life got in the way of working on guyford. ^_^

Life is annoying how it gets in the way. The real world is just always popping up at awkward moments. I think there is probably yourself @Tad and @Purplerook all looking for a group at the moment. So if Guyford is good to go. You just need one more.

I'm looking for some opinions, if everyone doesn't mind...
I just rolled stats to build a character for this game, and what I got was not exactly...ideal... STR 9 DEX 16 CON 9 INT 9 WIS 15 CHA 14 So...there are no truly terrible rolls there, but there's a whole bunch of mediocrity. My dilemma is this: Do I pick a race that addresses some of the shortcomings (e.g. Mountain Dwarf, +2 STR, +2 CON), or do I pick something that builds upon the strengths I already have (e.g. Wood Elf, +2 DEX, +1 WIS). I've narrowed my class choices down to Bard and Warlock, for both stylistic and mechanical reasons (a Barbarian is really rather out of the question with such rolls, for example). When I'm building a character using a point-buy, I try to avoid having more than one negative modifier, but since the dice have dealt them to me, I kinda feel like rolling with it...creating something more like a 'min-max' character, than one who's really pretty much middle-of-the-road. What does the collective think? I will note, for the record, that I reserve the right to ignore any and all advice if I don't like it ![]()

Monk would work well also if you went with a wood elf. Would end up with 17 AC.

A monk with such nice dex would balance out having such bad con. High ac low hp.

You could also be non-variant human if you want to even out those 9s and avoid negative modifiers.

all +1 human is a decent choice to even out those 9s, if you're set on either bard or warlock then I'd consider a scourge aasimar. RP wise, valor bard would seem to make a lot of sense or there is always the celestial warlock. Scourge aasimar would bump your CHA to 16 and bring the CON up to 10. I hate having a negative mod on CON.

Gotta lean into the dex and pick a class with +2 DEX so that you can get 18 and then make a ranger/rogue that uses ranged weapons (since your HP isn't ideal). Ranger will use the good WIS roll (and whatever race you pick will presumably let you +1 it as well) for a handful of things. As a rogue it gives you some interesting MC options (bard for even more skill monkey-ness or warlock for hex+hexblade's curse).

Human Monk or Rogue would be my pick STR 10 DEX 17 CON 10 INT 10 WIS 16 CHA 15 But if you're dead set on bard or warlock, those same stats work @4th +1 DEX/CHA, @8th/12th +2CHA @16th +2DEX @19th Feat or whatever Last edited by PraetorGradivus; Jul 9th, 2017 at 11:17 PM. |
