To Absent Friends

In a renaissance reenactment group I was part of, during feast we would make toasts to endless amounts of things, the cooks who cooked the food, the leaders of the group who was gracious enough to let us use their land and lead us in all of our activates, and as the thread says "To Absent Friends". We reserved an empty table in a dark corner of the room we had a plate and silverware set up and on or next to the table would be memorabilia items who belong to people who have passed away. When we would make the toast, "to absent friends" it would be to those who have either passed away or to those who just couldn't make it that weekend.

I wanted to make this thread for all the people that we may miss on the site. Feel free to call them out by name or feel free to be vague and talk about how you miss someone who, then describe what about them you miss enough so if they lurk and read this thread maybe they'll know you're talking about them. I know there is a lot of times where people bring up how people ghost from the site and so that could have a negative connotation for someone returning after having ghosted the site. I would like this thread to be (if people feel about this they way that I do) to show that our complaining is only that we miss them and would welcome them back with open arms if/when they return.

Who do I miss? lizard42069 loved your character renders service you provided to the site. While I don't have any character renders for you I was curious to see if you were still around and if that was still a thing looks like about half a year ago. Miss you Lizard.

If I recall correctly was a big help around the site. Answering questions in the questions thread. Welcoming people back from the MIA thread. and of course saying hi to the new folks in the new member area. I am sure there are many others that can add many more good things about her and miss ha whole lot more than I do so I welcome you to share. I only really ever saw her in passing never got in a game with her or anything so if anyone else wants to add to my absent friends post for RedRab I welcome it.

To Neqq, going to second that one. I don't know that I will ever miss someone as much as I miss Neqq, and the hole he left in the site for me.

In honor of Neqq, feel free to donate to ALS research in your country.

And to Red! She was a saint, and presumably, is still a saint, off jetsetting around the world. Hopefully not right now, though, given the state of the world, but I wouldn't put it past her for the greater good.

I’ll raise a third glass to Neqq. He was in the first game I got into on the site and his foul-mouthed, dirty-fighting, over-sexed female dwarf fighter Ignea was so much fun we kept her on as an NPC and she’s still kicking (usually for the groin).

Happily the two other people I would have mentioned here both reappeared recently.

He brought up Ignea in one of his last correspondences to me, you'll be happy to know. One of his favorite characters on the site and he missed her and that game immensely.

I blame 2020. All the craziness of 2020 made us forget how much time has passed. Perhaps its because we are holding on to the memories of better times before the crazy that makes it feel like yesterday.

To Grogg Tree and to Amos! First I left the site and by the time I came back they both were gone. We had many great games and many crazy character ideas together over the years. While I have met some amazing people since I have returned, this place just isn't the same without the two of them.

I was just thinking this about moozuba. And yep-- last activity was April 11th. I could have sworn they were active more recently.

For my own part: to chaopsychochick-- one of the more wild users and friendly people I've met. She may have been the first person I met IRL from this site. Her or Krowout.

To Medesha! To ridin gaijin! To Axeman/Amy! I see some of them around sometimes. But they always remind me of my time on the site when I had a frenetic energy and no focus to aim it. It was entirely too much fun.
