New Player? Try a Solo Game! Traveller Application Thread

Hey, are you new to the site and confused about how play by post gaming works? Maybe you are new, have some idea how the site works but want a chance to try a game out to make sure this is what you are looking for. Or maybe you just want someone to walk you through the basics in a game like atmosphere.

Well if any of those sound like you then why not check into playing a solo game called..........

The Plight of the Kurtosis

This is a solo game to teach new site members and players on this site the basics to help them along. If you are interested please post here. Just post that you would like to have a game. You need not have a character concept decided upon, or character sheet created, prior to being accepted.

Every new member who wants to play will be accepted!

However, to keep this as manageable as possible, there are a few things we ask of you:

• PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE GAME. Our Referees' time is limited and there are many waiting, it doesn't matter which version you play with regards to your mastery of site mechanics - in fact all the games have the same basic plot, so it wouldn't do any good to play multiple ones.
• Please make only ONE (1) post in this thread. Making more posts won't put you ahead in the queue.
• You will only be contacted through private messages if you have 4 or more posts, so please ensure that you have 4 or more posts.
• Only post in this thread if you want to play TRAVELLER / CEPHEUS (Version 1.0a). If you want to play a different system, please visit the relevant thread, here.
• If you notice that there are no new players waiting, that's because we've gotten them all! We delete posts as they come in so we can keep track of who has a game already. If there are no posts, that's because you're up next, so feel free to make one.
• Are you a Community Supporter as well as a New Member? Please go to the special Community Supporter application thread and we'll make sure to get to you as fast as we can.
• If you have any further issues or questions, please send zevonian or Retry a PM.

New Members Some of you may have noticed that your username is in Yellow, this is because you are a brand new member and have been labeled (and restricted) accordingly. Our efforts to maintain a spam-free environment for gaming are one of the reasons we have done this. All you need to do is make 4 posts that count towards your post count and your member name will change to Blue and you will gain all the privileges of a 'regular' member. You can read more about all that here. You can post here, for example.   Pretty much everywhere, especially game forums, will increase your post count towards that minimum. The sooner you get to that magical number of 4, the sooner you will be able to send PMs and be 'normal'. Some easy, fun, and informative ways to increase your post count include: Make a thread to introduce yourself in the "New Member Introductions" forum Say hello and chat with other new members, in their introduction threads (please do not spam these threads - be kind and have a real conversation! Spamming is against site policy.) Make a suggestion in the Caption Contest Contribute to the Monsters, from A to Z game

Some Additional Remarks We are all doing this on a voluntary basis and dedicate a huge piece of time out of our lives to this. It could take some time for us to reach your post, but please be patient - we like to play, too! While you're waiting, feel free to check out other parts of the site like General Discussion or apply for "normal" group games in Games Seeking Players. For those of you who are new to the Traveller/Cepheus game system, try reading through the Cepheus SRD and Traveller SRD while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother. You can also check out this post for examples of what a character sheet will look like.
