Aurora
right-aligned image

Hearing Oguun's question, Aurora paused to think for a second. "Well... I never tried to put out a fire... I always just wait for things to burn out. Some things work just like in our world. So unless our contractor is absolutely certain that the cobble road is burnable, then we should be safe..."

When the half-elf approached her, she tried to ignore him, but stopped, when he said: "..it's Godbert" Aurora instantly snapped and pointed one of her sabres at his stomach, chuckling, before getting closer and Intimidation 15whispering back. "Yeah... I guess it would make sense. Elves don't dream, so you took that chance to impersonate one of us... Clever. Though, you probably just gave me my only chance at finally killing you, you maggot." She smiled and moved her sword away. "I can't do it here and now, as others still see you as that boring guy from the tavern... But don't get surprised, when you see a blade sticking out of your chest." After giving the threat, she was about to move away from Earlamar but muttered something out. "I've heard that fey and elves like each-other. If you kill me in this dream-world, I will probably just wake up... and gut that long-ear out. Consider him a hostage."

In the corner of her eye, she noticed Geghard throwing a wet cloth at the woman. "I guess that also works." She said louder and nodded, pretending that her conversation with the half-elf didn't happen.

However, she decided to keep Insight 21a close eye on 'Earlamar'. Ready to react, if he reaches for his weapons.

Oguun
right-aligned image
Oguun looked at the seeds in Earlamar's hand and shrugged. "Something to do with food? My apologies, I do not know. Nothing grows at home." Nevertheless, he took the seeds when the elf handed them over and immediately gave them to Derek, hoping to avoid any uncomfortable questions about how Shr'akt'lor and the other citadels obtained food.

He returned his attention to dream-Mayuri, ignoring the unseemly disunity between Earlamar and Aurora. Dream-Almavalesh had dissolved and reformed earlier in the collision with Earlamar, but Aurora's immolation of the passing dream-woman suggested that magery might have different effects. He silently invisible at-will Mage Hand from Githzerai Psionicsimagined his third hand into being and set it to hover just beyond dream-Mayuri's lips, ready to close on the shadow tongue if it re-emerged. Anything more seemed possibly discourteous while a guest in Almavalesh's mind, at least without their host's approval. Without looking away, he bellowed "Bird-Almavalesh! I request permission to perform experiments on your mate's head!"

OOCOguun does not understand plants either. Holding on results of his earlier Arcana check and a reply from Starlight for now, but he has some ideas.

Fear
right-aligned image
For the first time in his life, Earlamar is outwitted but before he can focus on that, what follows next sends chills down his spine. The sly grin quickly disappears. He breaks Wisdom Save: 3in cold sweat. It is not just what she whispers back but also the calm demeanour she says it in. Earlamar is dumb founded, frightened for his dear life and the life of another in mere moments. As Aurora walks away, he stands there and those with keen eyes can notice, he shivers for several moments.

"I...I..was merely proposing that if you could..consider, not harming the dream world and its residents...that would be most appreciated. If, it's not too much of a bother, please.", even though he takes pride in his verbal prowess, the fear completely throws him off. He stutters his way through the sentence but somehow manages to say it. Then, like a dog with its tail between its legs, Earlamar, slowly walks back, facing her, visibly sweating, and keeping an eye on Aurora. His intent? Hide. Just run and hide.

As she turns to look at what Geghard's doing, the frightened half-elf moves quickly and once again Stealth: 23hides amongst the crowd. He no longer has the courage to face Aurora, so he decides to keep his distance, focus on the task, and possibly run away as soon as possible. This lady was dangerous and he knew that he couldn't take her in a direct confrontation.

Rolen sees the image of someone burning and immediately makes his way back, seeing nothing of interest where he was, when he rejoined the group he asked what had taken place, if he is given the information, he would look back, try and remember in one of the many books that he had read, or had learned from a mentor in the past, if something was similar to what was described.

Aurora

Aurora turned around, Perception 14trying to see the Earlmar'impersonator' but couldn't find him in the crowd. "Coward." She declared to herself. "I'm not going to listen to your demands." The woman didn't know, if he could hear her but she was probably being observed. To annoy the scared being and to make an another experiment, she proceeded with her previous idea and tried to chop the head off from a random citizen. She expected that it would look more realistic than her previous idea, as it was something easier to imagine. Aurora held her sabres closely together and decided to make a little spin before the 15 to hit for 6 damagedual slice, as she currently had nothing to worry about. She quickly stepped away, expecting gushing blood and Perception 18observed closely. "They aren't even real, why should we care?"

Incursion
left-aligned image

The spectacle provided by Aurora's immolated peasant was something to behold even at a distance, and as Rolen had no concern for the nameless rider in the road, he did his best to hurry back where he had left the other adventurers behind. And amongst them, there was both horror and awe spreading through the ranks of the dream travelers, enough that only Oguun had noticed the odd thing that had happened with Mayuri at the same time. After asking Aurora to put out her burning masterpiece, the githzerai did his best to alert the others to what he had seen and Rolen returned just in time to the group to see Oguun's performance of imitating the noblewoman which probably appeared as slightly eccentric to those from the prime material plane.

Meanwhile, both Earlamar and Geghard had found great concern with Aurora's action and it distracted them from anything happening with the memories of Almavalesh and his wife. Realizing that this odd display of a burning woman that kept walking was quite the fire hazard, Geghard showed off his athleticism as he quickly sprinted over to a nearby alleyway where he did a high jump and was able to retrieve a moist blanket that had been hung up high to dry during the budding midday. As he used the cloth to dowse the flames of the weirdly regenerating peasant, he turned the woman back into something less dangerous. The embers stopped falling and although the woman's hairs and clothes had burned up enough that Geghard had to leave her with the blanket to cover her shame, she still seemed unaware of her own appearance and even started to hum a little tune that was quite melodic. Her skin had returned to a surprisingly unblemished state, although now she was covered in soot all over.

While Geghard had taken his time to assure the safety of both this memory world and his new group, Earlamar tried to create a bit more safety for the group in his own way. The way that was deeply ingrained in himself and all of his fake personas. By lying. And with Aurora, it worked exceedingly well. The eternal bride had been tied up with the entity Godbert for so long, that now that she had been parted from it she was fast to believe that Godbert had managed to follow her into this dreamscape in his very own way, by occupying Grimly Packer's body. It left her with excitement that she might finally be able to settle the old score, but with perception and reality such a mess in this world, in front of the other adventurers she didn't see herself able to assault him right this second. So instead she gave the frightened Earlamar a moment that he used to hide back in the flow of memory people that were around them in this street, probably regretting quite a bit that his lie had been so very convincing to the half-mad Aurora.

Ignoring all those issues that were happening in the back of the tross, closely behind Almavalesh and Mayuri were Rolen, Derek and Oguun still trying to make sense of what Oguun had seen. As far as 'tongues of shadow' were concerned, nothing in the way of the arcane made sense aside from illusionary magic. But at least in that regard, the memory of Mayuri hadn't been seen doing any components that were required for any kind of such spellcraft, of that much the observant necromancer Derek was sure. And although Oguun knew that there were beings that could forgo spell components with their natural affinity for magic, the lack of purpose behind what the githzerai had seen made such a connection a bit far-fetched. Rolen as well was racking his own memories which were spanning several decades, but even then he had no recollection of any humanoids that ever sported anything like Oguun had described. Especially not as any kind of natural organ.
right-aligned image

In all the time that the adventurers concerning themselves with that mystery had been observing Mayuri for a repeat of what Oguun had witnessed, Geghard extinguished the burning woman and Earlamar extinguished any desire to stay near to Aurora while Almavalesh's beautiful wife showed no further signs of anything that could be considered suspicious. Between Derek, Rolen and Oguun they hadn't been able to make sense out of it yet, but then their thoughts were also interrupted when Starlight had finally descended from the heights at which he had carelessly soared in the sky. "What's happening?! Did you just light one of the memories on fire?!" Although from above what had happened with the woman who had been turned into a living pyre must have been especially noticeable, there was quite a bit of disbelief and concern in the swallow's silvery voice. As much as the current form of the adventurer's quest giver was harder to read than when he had been a human, it was awfully apparent to anybody that he had never considered that his hirelings would try anything like that.

But just in the following moment, any objections that Starlight might have wanted to pose to such treatment of the dreamscape were already coming too late. Aurora's interlude with Godbert disguised as Grimly had only served to further disconnect her from the fake reality of this dream, and without ever waiting for the swallow she had already set to strike again, leaving her deaf to Starlight's silvery voice that never had addressed her or told her to stop directly. The eternal bride's skill with her dual blade's had distinguished her from other humans for quite some time now, so when she approached the next unsuspecting passerby that never even was aware of her, the spin and the slice to the man's neck were perfectly placed between the vertebra as her blades beheaded the commoner just as if his flesh and bones had been butter.

Filled with a sense of wonderment Aurora watched intently as the separation of head and torso happened, but then she and everybody who accidentally looked that moment saw how the oddity of the dreamscape reared again. Where Aurora had expected a spray of blood, instead it was like a fountain of red dust that swirled before her just for a second, before she felt a tug at her consciousness that felt very similar to the moment when she had tried to summon baked goods into Almavalesh's living room. But then the moment was lost again, and everybody was witness as the cloud of dust pulled the head back from its incline and then in a display of thwarting the expected reality was reconnected to the peasant's neck, right in front of Aurora's eyes. And although she couldn't say how she knew, she felt it instinctively. There hadn't been missing much and she might have just been able to slay a memory and bend this reality to her will!
left-aligned image

"Lady Aurora! This is really not what I meant when I said..." But the dream guide never was able to finish that sentence. Their companion's latest display of violence was certain to have ensured further conversation of what this dream was meant for and what not, but before Starlight or any adventurer could call Aurora out on her continued behaviour, the world around the group came to an entire standstill. In just one moment the blue-feathered swallow had been about to glide over to Aurora and force a conversation to happen, but instead the bird was now hanging in the middle of the street in the open air, just as if something had frozen Starlight into time and place. A deadly silence had fallen over the entire street and where the surrounding space had before been a vibrant morning of Westhaven citizens going about their day, now nothing moved or even made a whisper. Almavalesh and Mayuri were equally frozen in the next step that they had been about to take, but just as the adventurers were forced to comprehend that the world had stopped, Mayuri's head turned right on its shoulders, turning around at a full 180 degree as if she had been born as an owl. Though from the weird twist in her neck, she very obviously had been born nothing like that.

"My... Aren't we having fun playing around?" The adventurers were shocked for just a moment as Mayuri's smiling eyes were coursing over the group that had been spread across the street, and even Earlamar who was the furthest away could feel the penetrating contact of her gaze. For the first time since they had entered the dream, a memory was quite evidently paying attention to them. "This is not a place for you. This is not anywhere near where you belong. Out. Out!!" There was nothing spiteful about Mayuri's soft expression on her beautiful face, but her tone of voice had been without mercy and as her words turned into an echoing shout, her jaw suddenly snapped open and from her mouth and eyes broke forth a scarlet red light that seemed to pierce through everything and anything as it shined on adventurers and memories alike in every direction without creating any shadows at all. As the street with everything still frozen in it was turned into a crimson boulevard, for a confusing moment as the adventurers were surprised they felt like they as well had been just fluff for dramatic effectfrozen in place. Except, they were not...

The light kept breaking forth from Mayuri's eyes and throat as her head stayed turned in place at its unnatural angle, but nothing more sinister seemed to be happening at that moment. The air was still silent, the adventurers could only hear each other breathe, pant or gasp, and although there was quite evidently an air of tension and malice about, nothing more apparent than the flowing red light seemed to be happening to them, and the light didn't hurt or even feel like anything. All adventurers were unwise as to what was happening, except when it came to Derek. Just as shocked as the rest of his companions, only to the young necromancer's observant eyes it was immediately revealed that time wasn't standing still for everybody. With the unwelcome desire to panic hidden somewhere inside the young man and asking to be let out, Derek Draven's senses were heightened to a point that he seemed to take in everything at once inside the crimson world of this Westhaven street. The memories were frozen in place, but some stilled moved!

A young monastery scholar at the next crossroad slightly turned his head and looked straight in Derek's direction. A burly, adventurer-looking type that had been nailing tiles on top of a nearby roof was glancing over his shoulder, his hand on the hammer slowly lowering as if he wanted to reach for the heavy crossbow that was hefted between his shoulders. An elderly-looking noble was moving his fingers in a minuscule movement. His fingers were clutching a cane, and it looked like something that wasn't just a walking aid, it was a disguised sword sheath. Derek's inner nervousness only grew, as there were Scarlet Legion officers in both directions of the street that also didn't appear unmoving, and lastly, there was a dark rider in the road the furthest ahead, lowering his adorned riding spear as both him and his horse suddenly paid attention to what Derek and his companions were doing. If a nail would drop, the tension in the air would rip as any of the adventurers knew that something bad was happening. Aurora's failed attempt at murdering a memory was overshadowed by the scarlet shine without shadows, but only Derek knew the extent of their plight. Every armed citizen in the road was aware of only one thing, which was him and his companions. The world had turned against them, and his group was at the precipice of an imminent attack!!

"Yes indeed, I am having fun. That's why I am not going to leave. I am Lady Aurora Turpis, a noble soul, a light piercing the darkness and you... you are just a figment of imagination." Aurora looked around for the closest threat and spotted a noble with a cane, her face was more annoyed than scared, because she couldn't do, what she wanted. The woman Move to 12 Odashed in the direction of the old man and 21 to hit for 7 damageslashed his stomach, running past him. Aurora lightly kneed the noble, to get her sabre unstuck from his regenerating throat.

As I tried to determine what our gith companion was talking about in regards to our host’s wife, I was detracted, and again horrified, by Aurora’s psychotic behavior. What kind of person casually went around killing people? I knew this was a dream, but that was no reason to go around setting people on fire and cutting their heads off. Thankfully our host was abut to have a stern talking with her about her out of control behavior. Unfortunately, that’s when the real trouble started.

I felt a knot of fear form in my stomach as dream Mayuri addressed us directly. That feeling only intensified when she twisted her neck around. I felt like a mouse caught in a trap as she blasted us with red light. I expected pain or at the very least to be expelled from the dream. Instead it was the dream people where affected as they all stopped moving…well almost all of them.

As the danger became clear, I did what Master Janfadar had taught me; I compartmentalized. I put my fear in its own little room in my mind. I still felt it, but it would not dictate my decisions. The rational, logical part of my mind took center stage, took control, and when it did I became aware of several dream people who were still mobile, and clearly hostile.

My insecurities and sense of inferiority was but a whisper as the rational me barked out orders to my seniors. “Everyone, she’s not the only enemy! There’s a scholar at the next crossroad, a burly man on top of that roof with a crossbow, An elderly-looking noble over there with a cane sword, Scarlet Legion officers in both directions of the street, and a dark rider in the road the furthest ahead!”

Being very much aware of how vulnerable I was, I took out a piece of cured leather in my left hand, drew magic runes in the air with my index and middle finger of my right hand, and said, “Mage armor!” Rolen was right to cast it earlier. Another example of my inexperience. I vowed to never make this mistake again.

"Derek!" Geghard cried as he became aware of the hostiles beginning to swarm, "All of you - move! Get inside!"

The fighter moved to U16the nearest window and dropped his spear against the adjacent wall. Then he pulled his crowbar from his pack, jammed an end between the shutters, and threw his weight into ripping them open, if not entirely off their hinges, but instead just bounced off them. He cursed himself for a fool - the memory did not include the interior of these buildings, so access was apparently blocked.

Night Terrors: The Beginning
right-aligned image
"Lub-dub" time stops. So does everything else around and for the time being he is no exception. In that moment, the silence is eerie, ominous even; and then it happens. The elegant lady in the arms of dream-Almavalesh turns to a creature of dread. Even though, Earlamar was pretty confident about his stealth skills a moment ago, he feels exposed. Naked even under the crimson light.

"Lub-dub" his heart races faster but his body, frozen still. Is it the fear? The realization that Aurora may have caused it and he could've stopped this?

"No, it couldn't be", although still frightened by the Auroradreadful bride, Earlamar rejects the idea that she could be blamed for this situation. The words spoken had intent. The dream-Mayuri did not want them here. While the silence is broken a few times by other members of the party, Earlamar can only hear some parts of it. He can hear one thing clearly - his racing heart. The blood rushes into his head, he feels light headed, the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

Geghard's voice brings him back to the present. "Lub-dub" he realizes, he has to move. There are more of them. Derek said there were.

"The bird..the real Almavalesh" immediately Earlamar once again is reminded of the two things he has learned up to this point. He runs out into the open in the direction that he believes he saw the bird last. "Lub-dub", once again his heart racing as he shouts, "The bird! Save the real Almavalesh!". The half-elf frantically pushes through some dream folks as he runs towards Geghard and manages to cut between him and the T14, 30 movementformerly burning peasant.

He stops for a moment. Second guessing himself as he sees the crimson horror. His hand shivers and he thinks of retrieving his bow but then once again realizes that dream-Almavalesh takes precedence. He using action to dashdashes and Acrobatics: 7(nat 1)attempts as best as he can to climb to the roof but fails pitifully, falling onto his back.

"Lub-dub" his palms sweaty, his heart beating faster. "It's the seeds. I knew they did something to her. It has to be the seeds"; whether it was the panic speaking for him or his low intellect showing its face now that adrenaline did most of his thinking for him, Earlamar was clearly confused and currently, quite useless.

Derek Draven

After casting my defensive spell, Geghard called my name and began breaking into a nearby building. Of course, we needed cover,a defensive position that limited the directions the enemy could attack us from. It was a good idea, and I ran to him, trusting the others would follow

Fighting with Memories
left-aligned image

After realizing what he had about the surrounding memories and that some of them were starting to turn on them, Derek Draven felt the fear in his mind clearly, but he had been trained well to compartmentalize such fear into a space that he could put at the back of his mind. With clear instructions he let the other adventurers know what he had grasped with his observant eyes, and then he cast his own protective layer of magic to wrap himself into an arcane armor. He regretted that he hadn't done the same as Rolen when the budding illusionist had sought that measure himself, but even preparing his mind for battle there was a lot that he yet needed to learn.

While Derek remained standing in the middle of the street after casting his spell and with Nephala coursing safely above the building to his south, Aurora had found the challenge by the horrible perversion of Mayuri's memory to be a welcome incentive to take more of her anger out on beings that she regarded as mere figments of imagination. Following the directions by the young necromancer, the eternal bride found the first deserving victim of her blade and with fleet footwork and expert bladework she slashed her sabers into the body of the noble before he could ever lift his crane. This time there was remained traces of human blood along the edge of her weapons, but as she had attacked in petulant dissatisfaction at having been called out by Mayuri in a way, her determination to shape the dream had seemingly been lacking and the clouds of dust that were blooming from the noble's wounds seemed to swirl and merge as the flesh seemed to reconstitute from the deadly wounds as she had seen a few times already.

On the other side of the small group that the noble had been a part of stood Earlamar, his heart beating loudly in his ears as he watched Aurora's gruesome attack and the grinning gash that she had planted on the man's neck right in front of him. For a moment he had to put everything happening into context, but in the end he decided the scary bride could not have been the main culprit. It was Mayuri's words that had convinced him as well as the awful crimson light breaking forth from the openings into her skull. Just when Geghard had grasped everything Derek had claimed and called everybody to move out of the open road, Earlamar came to the conclusion that he was in the wrong place in the opposite traffic of the street as well. Full of panic and adrenaline he turned to make a dash for the house that could elevate him to possibly reach the frozen Starlight who was stuck in the middle of empty air. But in his haste, he had overlooked that he had been in a far more precarious situation himself. The noble never had uttered any noises of pain or complaints after having been torn open by Aurora's blades, but when his cold, uncaring eyes saw the opening in Earlarmar's back he showed the adventurers that Derek had seen true. As he drew the blade from his cane in a single flowing movement that had him elegantly carve a deep slash into the half-elf rogue's back, it had been a well-placed strike that felled Earlamar just where he stood. For a moment the compulsive liar's world turned black as the searing pain in his back took his consciousness. Wherever it could go inside this dream.

In the meanwhile, Geghard had taken the opportunity to draw a crowbar from his utilities and moved over to the wooden shutters of the house closest to himself. With bulging muscles the spear master threw his weight into the iron lever, but although these plain wooden shutters should have easily broken open from his force, for some unexplained reason they didn't yield. Having to come up with a reason or explanation that would make sense to himself, Geghard decided belatedly that Almavalesh's memories possibly lacked insight into the interior, which was a very plausible reason for not getting inside these homes. So as he abandoned that venture, he glanced at the lightly protruding roof that would only shield him momentarily from the view of the brutish-looking adventurer that was just now drawing his crossbow. Knowing that he would be an unlikely target for the shooter at this angle, he decided to stand his ground. Looking back across the scene and into the crimson light, Geghard saw as Derek heeded his call to abandon the street and started to move to join next to the fighter where they kept to the side of the road as best they could.

Having seen what had happened with Earlamar and after hearing what Derek had said, the remaining adventurers also recovered from the shock of what had happened with Mayuri. Reinforcing his staff through druidic magic, Baka seemed to lose some of his lumbering slowness as he tried to end the noble that had done ill to Grimly Packer. Yet with the shadows at the edge of his mind strewing worries about the terrible things happening to the memory of Almavalesh's wife, his strike was awfully led astray. It was a terrible feeling to find himself pressured as he was, even though the pipe had done its best to keep him numb. It was then that Rolen and Oguun found their moments as well, and then simply used the forces of magic as they had been taught to them. Oguun's githzerai art drew the lifeforce from the noble in front of him, and although the unlikeness of the dreamworld to limbo had given him worry whether his spell would have any effect on the technically fleshless, it seemed to work just as well as it would if he was awake. The noble that still had Grimly's blood on his trick weapon succumbed to Oguun's spell, and as he fell over and down to the floor, his body exploded into a cloud of memory dust that dispersed and blew all over Baka and Aurora who had witnessed this death. At the same time Rolen had wrought his own deadly projectiles of arcane force, and as they unerringly flew through the air, aimed at the rooftop above Geghard, the magical attack pummeled the adventurer as he dropped his hammer onto the tiles of his roof. Again there were no cries of anguish, not even a frown at the obvious holes in his body. But even then, this unknown man seemed to have been made of tougher stuff, and although he had been hit clean and center, he still stood without any signs of dust as the blood ran down his leather-covered chest. After having seen the extent of their spells come to fruition, both Oguun and Rolen ran to move towards the alley, leaving Derek and Geghard behind them.

But even if Derek's warning had given everybody but Earlamar an upside on reacting to the impending danger, the adventurer's offense was quickly followed as the group now began getting swarmed as they had feared. The Scarlet Legion officers sprinted down the street and took the shortest routes to their foes as two started to hold up Oguun and another one found himself facing Aurora. The eternal bride had just been sprayed by a cloud of dust, but curiously it had neither tickled her nose nor stung her eyes. Which was a big help when suddenly the bleeding man on the roof finally raised his crossbow and shot his first bolt directly at her. Although the Scarlet Legionnaire already pointed his spear at her with a neutral expression on his face, Aurora still had the wherewithal to quickly duck out of the way of the projectile. Both she and Oguun were now up close and personal with these attacking memories, but these men seemed to have no spirit behind them, even at a glance. It was more as if they were puppets, or maybe sleepwalkers. They didn't appear in a trance, but their dispassionate expressions didn't fit the deadly battle that they were now mercilessly engaging in.

And that's when the hooves set in. The horse's charge made a lot of noise as it filled the otherwise mostly silent street with loud cluttering as it tore down the Westhaven road and carried its cowled rider forward with storming purpose. Nearly avoiding the frozen memory of Almavalesh, the horse made a small curve and carried its rider into a deadly thrust. With none other than Baka at the end of it. The dread plagued tortle had just missed his strike to dismiss the foe that had felled Grimly, but that's not the only reason he was slow to react to the charge. Fortunately his natural armor was far more sturdy than all of the shrooms suggested, and while the riding spear angled down and ripped through the fungal tissue, the druid himself ended up unharmed as the spear glided off of his shell with a loud scraping noise and while sending him spinning around from the impact. The rider was staring down at him from high on his horse, now no longer looking depressed but instead completely uncaring. Baka had remained unharmed by the attack, but not his fungal companions.

Having witnessed the charge, Geghard might have had the opportunity to feel glad that it hadn't been one of the wizards that took the brunt of the rider's malicious thrust, but if that's how he felt he didn't have long to feel glad about it. The monastery apprentice had also followed behind the other memories, and although the young man wasn't armed beyond a bronze bell, it turned out to be a spell focus and holy symbol after all. The ringing followed the scraping of the rider's attack momentarily and Geghard had merely enough time to look over his shoulder to see where the clear sound had come from. To his misfortune though it was directly in the direction of Mayuri and Almavalesh that he was now staring and following his reflex to look ended up with him looking in the broodingly emanating scarlet shine from Mayuri's mouth and eyes. It didn't really blind him nor did it burn in his eyes, but it certainly masked what was happening with the apprentice long enough that the sudden flash of radiance that struck Geghard completely blindsided him. And now it truly burned. He had seen Grimly fall before and had felt the heat from the woman who Aurora had ignited, but now he truly realized hand-first that pain inside the dreamscape seemed to work exactly how he remembered. And from the sacred flames send to him from the holy caster, he received an unholy amount of it as the radiance smoldered his flesh. How had none of the memory people yelled after being hit? The human adventurer certainly couldn't relate at all. At least from how it felt, these beings could actually end up killing all of them...
