Question for Ysolde: Odd question of the day - what types of stories would we have had growing up? Faerie tales? We're there mythical or legendary creatures in stories like centaurs, dragons, elves, etc?

This came to mind since Kae is trying to make sense of the nonsensical. Maybe some folk are touched by the forest wild - we got a lizard. Maybe we'll have bear people or deer folk. Now she sees a...horseman. That's a bit more on the domesticated side, but ok! If she saw a Tiefling, she'd think they became part goat.

Just while this situation doesn't turn Orwellian...

So, just for a frame of reference, would we be seeing a mythical centaur from childhood stories or a horse man?

Arthur isn't especially violent, but certain other aspects of centaur myth may be true to varying degrees, but I'm sure that's coincidental ;D

Yeah, quite strange and suspicious. But I'm quite well armed as well, I have a shovel and a pot as a helmet, the most powerful items in the game.

I was assuming we wouldn't have extra equipment that would require purchasing. I'm just carrying the tools of the Kae's trade, and sexy leather armor because...style

Such tales are told, but they are all set in the past. Things that great grandparents supposedly saw, if you believe them.

@ysolde, I just had a stupid thought. What would happen if I were to take mounted combatant as a feat? Would I be able to rework that into a homebrew combative mount, or too much headache?

Edit: I realize the halfling boy is the obvious choice in that regard, but I don't want to take his options. Besides, I figure it would make me versatile if someone else hops on, say if I have a patient strapped to my back or something.
Ex:

While mounted...
Original	Homebrew
ADV on melee attack rolls against any unmounted smaller than your mount	ADV on melee attack rolls against any unmounted smaller than you
Force an attack targeted at your mount to target you instead	Force an attack targeted at your rider to target you instead
On a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, mount instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails	Same but maybe 1x daily or equal to PROF bonus
