Rikke Skyhammer The littlest dwarf has largely lost interest in the discussion knowing that, like most everything else, it will go over her head. She is also kind of relieved when Honeysuckle takes the chain, not really having wanted to get close enough to a demon again to be able to use them. Besides, she knows she’ll need her hands free for using her bow to keep back the hordes of hellspawn waiting for them, but hopefully not really because she’s only got the one really good magic arrow. Well, she’s also got her sword, and Baern, and some magic, and whatever is in her pack, and that will have to do because they don’t really know where they’re going. A quick, hard spiral into worrying was sharply avoided when Rolen mentioned Walton, and brought Rikke back to the present moment. As much as she dreaded facing demons again, it also wasn’t doing much good to be sitting here just waiting for it to happen. Leaning towards Rolen she looked up at the tall vampire hunter, ”I’m ready to go too.”

Going to a Dark Place The party of five part from Izim once again. He does not wish them luck. They know that the dealer has arranged things to protect his own interests regardless of which way fortune leans. On the way back to Walton, the adventurers experiment with the strange manacles and discuss tactics, though before they can develop a complete plan, they find themselves back in the scholar’s quarters. Baern waits outside the building, and Rikke hopes that she can magically summon him back to her side at the new location. At Walton’s invitation, the heroes positions determined randomlycrowd into the confines of the summoning circle, and the wizard begins the final triggering actions. After all these hours, the adventurers grudgingly adjust themselves to the prospect of yet more waiting, but instead are surprised when after less than a minute, with no specific warning from Walton, he and the room around the party disappear! Glanteth and Honeysuckle find themselves in a chill darkness, totally sightless. Only the subtlest sensations provide them any orientation – the body heat and breathing of their nearby companions, the pull of gravity from the floor beneath their feat. The others perceive far more. The party stands in a summoning circle in the center of a large circular stone chamber almost 100’ in diameter. Rikke and Torgrun can barely make out the mundane furnishings around the edges of the chamber, but all three clearly see several threats around the group, all familiar to Rikke: three vaguely humanoid mush piles surrounding the circle, and closer to the one exit, two devilish dogs and an armed humanoid with a beard of snakes or spikes. Apparently no more prepared for the encounter that is the party, the fiends lurch to the attack.

OOC Initiative! Beat a Dice Roll: 1d20 10 (10) to act before the enemy. The party is in total darkness, so different darkvisions are applicable. For now I'm using secret text for those who can see, as I think it's more fun; let me know if I messed up the visibility either way. For Glanteth and Honeysuckle's actions, remember that many spells and abilities require sight. Please review the status table for any errors. The Hexblade was no tactical mastermind. However, he had spent time, perhaps too much, being hunted by and hunting with his patron - Peacekeeper. The situation in which he found himself was all too familiar - close in sentries with a response force. Rolen was moving even as he called an audible on the situation, "Back wall, take them at range. Split up, the dogs likely have a breath (area) attack." Rolen ran toward the back wall, apparently unarmed. However, the Pale Half-Elf cursed one of the mush piles and then blasted it with a 15 force, five necroticblast of Eldritch Power as he ran past the creature. Rolen's had a poor angle for his second bolt, so his second blast missed the beast.

Honeysuckle Suddenly plunged into darkness, Honeysuckle is grateful for not making the deal as he pulls the driftglobe out of a pouch and says the command word to activate it. Now realising they are completely surrounded, Honeysuckle starts to regret having to drop his weapon. That was until he remember he was magic now. He stood over his weapon and grit his teeth. Rikke Skyhammer ”Uh oh…” Rikke utters as the party is plunged into darkness as it’s pulled through the magical portal to a new location. Unable to see through the darkness has Rikke’s heart in her throat and the young dwarf near to panicking, until she realizes she has her eyes shut tight and opens her dwarven eyes to the area around her. Most people would have been startled by being surrounded by demons, but Rikke was expecting there to be demons, and is still pretty relieved that she can see as she lets out a long held breath, ”Ah, okay, that’s a lot better. Summon 'new' Baern to the partyBaern are you around?” Being a mule and not a person Baern cannot reply to the statement as Rikke hoped, but from beside her came a clop, clop, as he let her know he was nearby. There was a fwoosh and a skwick and ploosh and then Rolen was directing them to the back wall as the monster in front of her sort of melted. It seemed as good a plan as any, especially getting away from the fire dogs after what happened last time, and Rikke pointed to the Rikke to N4, Baern to O4back corner before motioning for Baern to follow her lead. They were still moving ahead when someone lit up the room with magical light, which was probably a good thing for her friends, but also made the whole situation feel a little weird.

Torgrun Stonethrower - Hill Dwarf Druid (Sheet) (XP and Loot) Without warning Torgrun was momentarily engulfed in darkness as he and the rest of the party was teleported to the other end of the teleportation circle. When his vision returned, he could see that he was in a large chamber, and as he had expected they had unwanted company. While Rolen quickly dispatched an amorphous looking humanoid to the north, Torgrun eyed the dog like creatures and bearded humanoid figure to the south. Going to a Dark Place Rolen blasts out some breathing room, and half the team puts it to use, literally working their magic once they get clear. Torgrun’s magical growth spell briefly pins one dog, but barely slows the other targets, who immediately swarm Honeysuckle. A hound charges to bark a blast of fire at Honeysuckle and Glanteth. The flames seem to have no effect on the dog’s devilish comrades, the bearded devil and a mush, who flank the minotaur. The bearded one slashes Honeysuckle with his glaive, then whips him with his beard, leaving the minotaur wounded, bleeding, and feeling ill.

OOC 20 hp fire on HS and Glan; 12 DEX for half damage; Glan can halve it again for his fire resistance. I factored the Rage into the final damage to HS. From the glaive hit, HS is wounded. At the start of each turn he takes 5 hp (no halving) if he doesn’t make a 12 CON. That effect ends if he is magically healed or if someone uses an action to make a 12 Medicine check on him. From the beard hit, HS needs a 12 CON or he’s Poisoned per the condition, and while poisoned he can’t regain hp. If so, he gets a free CON save at the end of each turn. Honeysuckle Honeysuckle dived out of the hound's firery breath, just scorching his toes. He scooped up his sword on the pop up, but was met with a devil's glaive, which left a weeping wound up his side. Luckily though he manages to push out the posion from the devil's beard. He looked down to his new sword and grinned. He was out numbered 1 to 3, but at times like this, it was ok to get a little...reckless... He slashed out wildily on the devil with his new sword, hoping his friends wound clean up the muck behind him.

Glanteth, Son of Thorin, Cleric of Thor Honeysuckle's floating orb of light proved to be quite the saving grace for the Norseman who quickly took in the scene. Surrounded by enemies with the Minotaur while the more range-effective party members had fallen back. Glanteth grinned through his beard. It was just like old times. He was able to pivot and position his shield enough to escape the brunt of the hell hound's infernal breath attack, turning the same movement into a slice against the living mound of suet to his left. Seeing the slice have less effect than he'd hoped for, the Viking yelled "casts Spiritual WeaponGud Hammar!" The follow-up blow from Thor's hammer splattered the thing all over the dog next to it as the Norseman turned and charged straight up into the bearded devil's face, shield leading.

Torgrun Stonethrower - Hill Dwarf Druid (Sheet) (XP and Loot) Torgrun's weed spell usually worked great against the rug rats also known as his nieces and nephews but it barely slowed down the devils. At least he was glad that he retreated from the frontline because the scorching flames and attacks from the enemy looked like they hurt. HS and Glanteth were tough customers and could thankfully take a few hits. To help support the frontliners, Togrun dropped his staff and pulled out 3 stones, magically enchanting them and then hurling one at the damaged mush creature next to Glanteth.
