@Corwin:
That was a cross-post. The answer is, yes, Morgan does want to beat that door! ![]() Would you like to delete your last post and repost it with another response? I figure we could leave it at is too though. ![]()

Hehe, I was slightly hoping for a post that reads "Might Morgan be upset?" but that would have just been a bonus.

I have a very charisma-skill-oriented sorcerer in another game, but Gil is not that way

Poor Morgan. Now she is doomed to be grumpy all by herself.

At least she can take her frustrations out on the door

@Corwin:
I suppose that Morgan did hear that Gil wasn't a fan of fire. She simply didn't like that it got brought up again, and Gil is a sort of fire mage after all. She just didn't take it well. ![]()

@BlackDragon0:
While Morgan was mad for another reason, for next time, Morgan is visibly carrying a warhammer at her hip that she isn't using at the same time as her seashell staff. I don't think that it made any difference that Mogan smacked that door open alone, but if Storm had wanted to lend his help, he could have. ![]()

Gil is absolutely a fire mage
![]() Shillelagh is really handy for niche situations like this though, what with magic weapons being pretty much unbreakable. Warhammers really aren't made for pounding on a stone-like substance.

That's curious to me. Is there such a big performance difference between a warhammer and a sledgehammer? Though I suppose that would validate why it's a separate PHB item, or why there is a pickaxe. Either way, I definitely prefer using the Shillelagh for the same reason you mentioned.

In D&D logic, who knows?
![]() RL medieval warhammers were sort of specialty weapons for use against full plate armor, a lot lighter than sledgehammers, usually with a reinforced handle, a small hammer face on one side of the head and a small hook on the other. The intent was to be able to deliver a concussion through a full helmet, dent in armor joints to reduce an armored opponent's range of motion, or use the hook to pull mounted opponents down. They look more like a really aggressive geologist's hammer than a blacksmith's tool ![]()

An aggressive geologist's hammer sounds like it could be applied against something stonelike, but I can see how a sledgehammer would be a much more fitting tool, especially when it comes to speed and effectiveness.
![]() That said, I figure this kind of demolition work would take a bit of coordinating to do with two people, so Morgan wasn't exactly expecting anyone to join her. Her annoyance isn't entirely rational. Probably she was just looking to see more of an effort, or maybe she's just in a mood. ![]()

A 5e warhammer weighs less than a kilo, considerably less than a 5e "hammer" but about twice as much as a RL hammer. A 5e maul (heavy, 2-handed) weighs about 4.5 kilos. A RL sledgehammer can weigh over 9 kilos, but the 5e one weighs the same as a maul.
