Teema
right-aligned image

The group inside of the boat beneath Teema certainly didn't look like it had been prepared to suddenly get swarmed by a bunch of sea creatures and just as Hex's thoughts in her head had complimented her name, Teema got to see from a birdseye view how all of these men clashed violently with the fishfolk. ~You're surrounded! They're three!!~ Not saying stuff out loud instead of simply thinking it seemed like a talent that the petite avian took to naturally as the unhelpful message burst forth inside of the half-elf's mind, and then Teema witnessed with widened eyes as blows and bites were exchanged, and when blood got sprayed into the ocean the harpy's lucent pupils widened even more. They're really doing it! This is real! As she was still holding herself aloft on her snow-white wings, a warm shudder of anticipation ran up Teema's spine. She felt very reluctant about getting herself hurt and still thought that she should help these other adventurers, but something about this sight of violence called out to her in a way that was almost instinctual. It made her feel... alive. Free.

As she was still safe and sound fifty feet above the waves, Teema hadn't quite concluded which of the males was actually Hex. Either he was the one that waved his hand and suddenly did super impressive magic which deflected the combo attack that the curious harpy could recognize from her heightened station, or maybe he was the one that smacked one of the uglies with his staff only to get gutted in return. The amounts of blood he lost made it clear that he definitely wasn't fine, and if it wasn't so madly exciting Teema would have absolutely felt bad for the guy. The little birdwoman had already fallen into a slow downward swoop as her thoughts raced what she should do here without getting herself killed, when another mental message arrived inside of her and explained that they were indeed friends, the human indeed was about to die, and Hex definitely still needed her to come down to his aid.

So it's the weird-looking guy with magic! Teema didn't mind that Hex looked a little mad or that he was running away from the enemies instead of hitting them back. He was acting friendly enough and all of his advice had made deciding on a course of action much easier for the petite female. Still not ready to dive headfirst into danger, the blood harpy braked her descent still a decent step above the water somewhat diagonally behind Hex. And then she let out another shriek, but this time it was magically infused as the uncomfortable sound was directed straight at the shark getting pummeled by an orcish fellow. The harpy's cry was not only shrill, now it was definitely intended to kill all of the shark's thoughts dead. That ought to distract him.

Weaving, Percy had struck out and rang true with his staff. But it cost him dearly. The enemys jaws locked tight onto him, then beat him down to the ground with their spear. Clutching his bite wound Percy slipped into unconsciousness.

The Ranger’s first swing at the fishman missed considerably wide of the target leaving it open to attack Percy again. Galen watched as the monk feel unconscious in the boat next to him. Angry and frustrated at the current situation, the elf tightened his grip on his bow and went to swing at the sharp-tooth Sahaugin again. Maybe he could at least make it move away from the edge of the boat for a second to give someone a chance to help Percy.

IC Blood in the Water
Percy lay in the slowly rising water of the boat, staining the water with his blood. Meanwhile, the combat raged over his dying body.

Hex disengaged from the reef shark and the first Sahuagin and retreated to the back of the boat, only to turn around and curse the Sahaughin he had been fighting. Girgdan dealt the shark another vicious blow with his Battle Axe, and Teema cursed the creature. Meanwhile, Galen dropped his low bow and drew his Rapier. The Elven Ranger attempted to skewer the shark-like beast but was unsuccessful.

Ignoring injuries, the shark and its humanoid companions pressed the attack. The shark managed a grazing wound on Girgdan, but its companion could not touch the tough Barbarian. The remaining Sahuagin managed a glancing blow against Galen. However, the blood on the two adventurers drove the two Sahuagin into a frenzy.

Hex
right-aligned image
(Click for Sheet) @James Zapata

Hex grinned impossibly-wide as he discovered that his new harpy friend could indeed distract. He was fairly certain that there was even magic infused in her cries. Was she also naturally psychic, in a sense? That was... intriguing. Hex even slapped his shield in an attempt to clap at Teema's shrill antics. Meanwhile, the poor man kept bleeding on the boat, which drove the sea predators wild with bloodlust.

"Tut, tut, didn't your mothers teach you self-control? Hmm. Do mermonsters even have mothers? Something to ponder..."

Hex didn't ponder though, since he was already casting an eldritch cantrip to blast the sahuagin he had cursed. It struck true, which made the half-drow grunt in satisfaction.

"Before you die little fishface, would you tell us where you came from and how we can get the pits out of this predicament?"

Girgadan

Barbarian he may be, but Girgadan wasn't an idiot and had seen wounded comrades in similar situations. In fact it reminded him of that time when his Captain was caught relieving himself when scouting along the wooded ridge near home and he accidentally watered that pit...

Girgadan smiles to himself at the memory, shrugs of the attack from the shark and takes aim at the fish man.

"Gonna be time to get up soon sleeping human, I'd prefer the blood and water on the other side of the boat"
With all this subduing I should become some kind of pacifist priest or something...
"A Barbari-fist . HAHAHAHAHA!" The half-orc laughs at his own 'joke' oblivious to whether anyone else recognises it as a laugh or some odd warcry.

Hopefully the fighting stops with the water creatures as Girgadan hasn't had chance to determine if the others are friendly beyond this immediate fight...

Dammit Gruumsh! There should be a fish man sleeping, just not with the fishes
Not able to see whats occuring behind him the boat rocks unexpectedly and leaves the Half-Orc waving his axe in the air

Teema
right-aligned image

Teema caught herself in the air before descending further where she kept flapping her feathery wings as she saw the battle unfold beneath her. Despite her hopes, the shark very much kept having thoughts even after she had tried to end him, and evidently his primary thoughts were hell-bent on biting the men on the boat in spite of any survival instincts that it might have had. Only too late occurred it to the little harpy that attacking him psychically might have been a bad play because now it was so disoriented that it didn't even know that it might be able to survive if it simply dived below and disappeared. Now! Kill it, orc! The exhilaration of battle was still holding Teema in its grip as she experienced bloody combat for the very first time, yet maybe she should have screamed her cheers out loud instead of keeping them in her head because the orcish fellow below relented from finishing the job with the shark and instead started flailing around at the other opponent with a booming laugh, right after Hex had blasted the fishman by shooting some more weird magic over the orc man's shoulder. The white-feathered avian's eyes flitted over all the men beneath her on the boat, witnessing how they gradually got overwhelmed by the stronger warriors that had come from the sea, the fishmen gaining the upper hand as the Westhaven adventurers showed themselves struggling to find their footing on the teetering boat. If they die, what will I do?!

The realization struck the mercurial blood harpy and rightly ripped her out of her vivacious state, as she suddenly remembered her earlier realization that if the other adventurers got killed she would be very much left with nobody to tell her how to get back to Westhaven. And I don't even know where I am! Where are we?? Again those thoughts might have been more useful verbalized or at least transmitted telepathically to Hex, yet Teema didn't have the wherewithal to be as communicative as that at the moment when fear overtook her. And unlike the frenzy of battle, she knew what it was like to be scared. It was a feeling she positively hated, and so there was a lot of incentive to really not let these guys get killed. Which reminded the petite birdwoman that the second man who had waved at her was already keeling over in the boat below, and this brought her back that she very much had magic at hand to prevent his death. Panickedly Teema gawked at the shark, a target that she might be able to kill as it left its back wide open, but then back at the wounded human who had been pretty friendly before he fell down to start gurgling on his blood. Him first, probably... Without any training of this sort, the blood harpy could only rely on instinct to guide her through her first battle. The dying man was completely surrounded by armed to the teeth fish people, yet letting him die would have rubbed Teema the wrong way. So she pressed her lips tightly together in a distinct frown, trying to not even make a peep as she hastily circled the boat and flew down just adjacent to the blood-soaked man. She stretched out her taloned legs and grabbed the man with her claws as she cooed a little auran melody and started to evoke a healing spell that the wind spirits had taught her. Her lime-coloured eyes were widened while she sent a surge of healing deep into the dying man. This close, she couldn't help getting affected by all that blood. Oooh... he smells so... craazy!!

Percy, Wandering
right-aligned image

Thick purple blue swirled and pulled. Ebbing with explosions of brighter pink and maroon from beyond this awareness. Silence reigned supremely, solitude secondly. Percy did not feel. Ignorant of the bleeding wound or seeping cold of the wet. Then. Melody.

With a splitting rush of sound suddenly yellow light invaded him. Bright and blue above him interrupted by the sway of this world and the feathering of his new companion; huge and green the melody had eyes and it was his friend. Lungs aching for air expanded and before he could speak Percy inhaled sharply then coughed up some of the saltwater that had found him while sleeping. " Blessed air strider! " Laughed the no longer sleeping monk. The healing energies repairing not only his body but his attitude. Bringing his knees sharply to his chest the monk rocketed back up to his feet, only partially wincing from the pain of his partially closed wound.

Unfortunately he had little time to share words with his new friends. Tucking his boot beneath his staff; Percy kicked the weapon up into his hands. Grasping the wooden staff Percy took in the movement of the boat before lashing out quickly at their attackers. Shifting his weight the Monk stabbed the end of the staff downwards at the still swimming creature, unfortunately missing its mark. Pulling the staff back from the water; Percy would twist his body and hop from one foot the other in a spin to bring his elbow down sharply upon the creatures face. Treating it to the same unconsciousness they had left him in.

Girdan was unable to hit the shark with his Battleax. However, the muscular Barbarian leaned over far enough that the grievously injured shark was able to take a bite out of Girgdan.

Galen demonstrated that a Ranger is more than merely an archer, by lunging over the side of the boat and seriously injuring the remaining Sahuagin.

The tide of the battle has turned, but the remaining Sahuagin and shark are consumed by their blood lust and continue to attack.

Girgadan

After such an embarrassing miss on the fish man, especially with someone else saving the day with that attacker the Barbarian tries to make up for it by finishing up with the Shark.

With all the rest on the other side of the boat the Half-Orc doesn't want to risk tipping the boat.

"Just me and you shark and we are going to FIN-ish this. HA!"

Girgadan manages to shove the shark back with his shield to give him a fantastic opportunity. He leans in and smacks the shark across its gills with the flat of his axe stunning the beast.

Teema
right-aligned image

For a moment there Teema ended up in a trance-like daze. The scent of the human's fresh blood was really calling out to her, although she very much knew that right now she was healing him and saving his life and totally not supposed to be fixating on the iron red fluid that she wasn't supposed to be attracted to. Which she utterly failed at in the moment. Her lucent eyes were widened as she waited too long to do anything further and then the man got up, shot her a brief praise that completely blew past her, and then immediately started to get back into the fight. The blood harpy had to fly up above him as he whirled around, knocking one of the fish monsters out. Teema was still in a bit of a revelry as the remaining ugly sharkman suddenly thrust his spear right at her, forcing her to flutter to the side hectically which took her dazzled mind right back into the moment of this life and death battle. "Hey!!!" The blood harpy fletched her teeth at the fish creature, revealing for the first time to the other adventurers that behind her pretty face was hiding a row of sharp, serrated canines that looked like it would be able to tear chunks of meat right out of any opportune victim.

Right then Teema was very infuriated to have been so unkindly reminded that she had been drawn into her very first battle. And although she had been kept away from any violence like this in the past, right then her instincts took over and with another shrill cry she circled around in the back of the remaining combatant, not even noticing the orc man who made another pun as he finished his brawl with the actual shark. For the first time in her life, Teema went on the attack as she dove down and tried to get close enough in order to jarringly bite the foe that had drawn her ire. Excitement, adrenaline and the scent of blood were giving her bravery, but unfortunately her victim was not exactly opportune and he noticed her unpracticed maneuvering and simply ducked out of the way before the harpy was able to connect with him. Having missed her shot the petite avian let out another scandalized shriek, but her expression turned worried as well because now she had really given the monster person a reason to stab her to death and had also gotten really close to him.

Hex
right-aligned image
(Click for Sheet) @James Zapata

The walking seaweed crumpled on the boat's deck at Hex's accursed blast, at which the sorcerer clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Why does no one prefer discourse over dying? I do not get it..."

No time to waste on missed opportunities, however. Hex's new friends were still not looking well, and their spilled blood wasn't helping the frenzied sea monsters' mood, so he decided to keep blasting.

The half-drow now focused on the standing sahuagin, since Girgadan so thoroughly beach-slapped its pet shark.

"That's one way to deal with a predator! Strike its airways!"

Hex then tried to blast the sahuagin's face, were its gills were located.

"Huh. Super effective, " he noted as the monster keeled over.

It was beyond chaotic to say the least in the boat. Beams of magic flew across the breath of the small dingey. Feathers brushed Galen’s head as the harpy swooped down to touch Percy. A moment later the man popped up, alive and breathing. Gods above what was that!

The ranger whipped around to look over the edge of the boat as the eldritch blast knocked the second sahuagin away.

“We should dump that S1one back into the water,”
he suggested thinking about weight in the boat. Galen was sure they were sinking but didn’t really have time to assess that problem at the moment still wary of the unconscious fishman in the boat with them and any others that might come back up for a second chance at dinner.

@Elder Oblex, the Hexblade curse does not require concentration and cannot be transferred - "The curse ends early if the target dies." It is the exact opposite of the Hex spell, which requires concentration, and is transferrable.

Resources. Each PC has the option of taking two Short Rests throughout five Doors. However, there is no long rest until a character has completed five Doors.

Treasure Calculations - Mindsiege, please check my math. With two second-level characters - Galen and Hex, the total is ~100 gold or 20 gold per character.
Squared((2+2+1+1+1)/5)*52*5=509.6/5 Adventures ~102 gold.., Round up to 21 gold/character.

Galen lunged at the remaining Sharkperson, but his rapier was parried with the creature's spear. Similarly, Teema attempted to bite them but could not get a solid purchase with her sharp teeth.

However, Hex launched a blast of Eldritch energy which took down the last remaining Sahuagin. Similarly, Girgdan thumped the shark on the snout with his battleax, which knocked the large fish unconscious.

Looking around, the party noticed a small platform rising out of the water, with a table and a door behind the table. There were a few anxious moments as some of the party needed to get out and swim to bring the boat over to the platform.

Inspecting the table, they found a large chest. This time with one hundred and two gold pieces. Inside the chest were five sets of five clothes and a small note reading, "For your next adventure."

Hex was content to stay in the boat as others pulled the boat closer to the platform. He made sure to smile at them and say, "Thank you!" He waved at Teema again, who had come to his aid. "Splendid display, Teema-friend! Are you new to Westhaven? I don't think I've met any of your kind before!"

As he observed the contents of the chest, Hex pocketed his share of the gold then regarded the fine clothing set before them.

"Hmm. Are we going to a ball now?"

Nevertheless, he shrugged and put on a surprisingly fitting two-piece suit made of some luxurious, velvety cloth. Warm, but sharp. Very nice...

"So, should we stay or should we go?"
