I'm not sure of a couple of things. First, some GMs want to roll secretly for non-obvious ability checks. Second, I'm unsure if you are good with multiple ability checks outside combat. I have taken the liberty of rolling the three ability checks (in priority order), but I'm fine with you re-rolling secretly and or limiting the number of ability checks.

I'm good with rolling such rolls openly because the player will know based in their own knowledge quite quickly whether the result was good or bad.
In addition, Zook had enough time to think about the questions and to rack his brain about the answer.

1) The map shows a statue of Ursus. Did the PCs notice it? Is his name on it?
2) Did the PCs notice the "megalithic tomb" on their way here?

Zook knows all the locations. The other PC did not notice any location beside the once mentioned in my posts.

@players, I apologize for being a bit distracted. Zook has been a bit more forthcoming in his last post. In summary, we're likely looking at two threats - Owlbear and necromancer, that may be related. Zook suggests visiting the Wildtalons for information and if possible, hunting down the Owlbear, before looking for the source of the undead (Necromancer ?). There is a Temple to the West of the village, where the last party encountered the Winged-best and the villain, who happened to be the priest of Pelor.

FYI, in situations like this I ignore the dialogue my PC doesn't hear, so Zook will have to make his suggestions when everyone regroups.

OK. A confession. I've not posted in about a week, but I've been over halfway in drafting a Syrota post at least three times and fallen asleep or closed the tab for whatever reason. Looks like at this point I need something fairly long, so I'll try to get that up tomorrow.

No worries. Sounds like RL has been busy. Syrota is a Rogue, and probably used to minimizing her interactions with authorities like a mayor. :P

This goes for everyone; please take care of yourself and your life. PbP is easier to fit into the crack of life, but there still comes a time when you don't have the time and or energy. If you can, let the group know, but don't worry if you don't provide a heads-up. The West Marches will likely be here when you get back, and we'll keep the adventure running minus any players.

Seriously, the GMs are good at keeping the adventure going when a player needs to bow out for a week, a month, or even longer. We have had several players return months or even a year later and pick up with their character.

I agree with what was posted before. I just wish that players give me a note or send me a PM in advance instead of just vanishing.
