Welcome - I've yet to meet someone that doesn't like pie
So given all those systems you've tried whats your favourite and why? This place has been kind to me so far even the DnD5e games so this might be a good safe space to try it again. RPG gaming is tricky even with a good group real life has a way of dropping surprises on you and PbP is no less affected but the slower pace does offer up some compensations...

Hi, weird pseudonym !
I don't think I have a favourite system, but if I had to give some completely arbitrary awards : - great setting/system integration : L5R. I mean... - mechanic with most potential : character aspects and Fate points. It's just so funny to have GMs tempt players with a "carrot" in exchange for obvious bad **** happening to their players. - favourite meta / group mechanic : Scion 2e's momentum & tension points. In essence, when failing a roll, a "momentum point" is added to a party pool as compensation for the failure. This momentum can then be used by players to add extra dice to a roll or activate some powers. I find that great because individual failures don't necessarily handicap the whole group, and having such a resource be accessible party-wide is a real plus. On the flip side, every time the party gains momentum, the GM gains a point of tension. Which is basically the same, but for bad guys : the GM can use tension to power up enemies, activate powers etc.... - simplest system for a one-shot : "Brain Soda". spend points in attributes, make up your very useless skills (e.g. "scream at the TV while watching cartoons"). you need to roll under attribute + skill, and the difficulty determines the die used : routine check ? D4. super hard ? D20. The whole game is bananas, it's hilarious. honorable mention to Storyteller system (think WoD) because the system is designed so you can use any attribute with any skill. (also in Scion ![]() |

L5R is one of my other favorite systems! I'm a Scorpion from waaaay back. I liked the sneaky aspect of due to what I did back in my Army days. What Family did you prefer? BTW, one of my other favorites is King Arthur Pendragon, have you heard of it?

I have heard of King Arthur Pendragon, but never played. a lot of systems I have yet to play even though I did read the rulebooks : Paranoia and in nomine satanis if I were to name only 2 of them.
Pff, scorpion. a good scorpion is a dead scorpion is what I'd say. I had multiple characters, but I always liked going back to being the ******y crane, even if my last character was a crane that went to a crab school, so he was a bit weird. But in essence, all families have their unique flavor that makes them all really attractive. Except the stinky Scorpion ! burn them ! :P |

The Dragon clan looks upon the dispute in this conversation with quiet disdain.

Once there was a Crane which dared to boast of its beauty and abilities as a flyer and swimmer in front of a Scorpion, while the Crane mocked the small creature, which had only a tail. The Scorpion retorted that the Crane will get old and be sad, looking back at everything it had lost, while the Scorpion had nothing to lose and only to gain. And the Crane had nothing more to say.

The Dragon came to Scorpion, and told it he had seen all other creatures tricked, and that it already knew what Scorpion would do with Crab, Crane, Ki-Rin, Lion, and Phoenix. Scorpion retorted that dragon knew of it but did nothing, and Dragon had nothing more to say.
Always sitting on fences leaves one with sore butt.

Well, it sounds like we have a Crab, Crane, Dragon and Scorpion player. Now all we need is a GM and a game.
BTW, I never said the Scorpion Clan is the best Clan...it is, but I never said it. And good job along the Wall fulfilling your duty Crab Clan Lemming! Oh, except for those times when you failed and the Shadowlands breached the Wall and entered Rokugan and then, you know, letting them attain major Clan status.
