The Vikings conquer at last!

Another match decided in the dying minutes! Sweden beats Paraguay 1-0 with a goal in the 88th minute. I found this an exciting game to watch purely for the way Sweden came out with all guns blazing and attacked relentlessly for the whole game. It seemed almost a matter of time before the Swedes would find the back of the net and that it was, all 88 minutes of it!

The Vikings are now probably slight favourites to be the second team in their group (behind England) to progress to the second round as Paraguay are now eliminated. Trinidad and Tobago are not without a chance however they would probably need a big two goal win over Paraguay and for England to beat Sweden. In my opinion the Swedes will go in favourites in that match though as England have to get over the psychological barrier of never having beaten the Swedes in 37 years.

Dad: Oilers Scored.
Me: WHAT THE HELL!!!

Seriously, who scores in 16 seconds. That was crazy. That might have been the greatest first period in hockey I've ever seen. Too bad the Cane's blew it in OT. Oh well, that just means they have to win it in Edmonton. Too bad.

Now, how bout dem HEAT!!
Dirk went 2-14 or somethin horrible like that. Again, who's the man....Udonis Haslem.
2-2 now...If the Heat win on Sunday Dallas is in MAJOR trouble....

GO HEAT!!! GO CANES!!!

Didn't see the game. Score looked bad. I'm glad that the Mavs finally get to close out a series at home, though.

Oh, I see how it is.....Mavs win and Turnip is all over it and gloats....Mavs lose and its, "Uh, didn't see it."

Haha, just joshin ya. But basically here's what happened. DWade went bonkers...again, Dirk and JHo couldn't hit the side of a barn and the Mav's scored 7 points in the fourth quarter. Yup, not a typo. Not 17, not 27, but 7. Worst scoring quarter in finals history.

Interesting though.....Fourth or fifth worst quarter is 11 by the Heat in game 2 of this series.

Dirk's stat line for the series..........23-64 FG (36%), 5-18 3Pts, 42 boards, 88 points
Haslem+ Posey stats for series.....18-39 FG (46%), 5-11 3Pts, 48 boards, 48 points

I'll take that any day.

Has anyone else heard about the instructions given to football fans in Germany not to give Nazi salutes or goosestep about or is that only for the English fans?

If its only for the England fans, then I'll find that really unfair, especially considering that dutch fans are going over there with t-shirts saying 'I want my bicycle back' and WWII helmets painted orange

Its illegal to do Nazi reminiscent stuff in Germany for everyone. Stuff about the war is OK I think, but anything specifically nazi (swastikas, goosestepping etc) can get you locked up and/or sent home.

It is illegal to deny the Holocaust existed or be a memeber of a pro-Nazi group.

Have to laugh at the Dutch t-shirts.
I was talking to a Dutch bloke who was still quite angry about WWII. He said "and they stole our bicycles, our sisters, our mothers, our homes!" I couldn't keep a straight face at the ordering of his outrage.

Argentina, the sleeping giant?

Well, no one could really dismiss them when it came to their chances of winning this tournament. However, I think anyone with any doubt need only look at the brilliance of Rodriguez's first goal and then the beautiful passing that led to Cambiasso's follow up.

EDIT: Another to Rodriguez! So at the 40 minute mark and in the commentator's inimitable words, "it's Argentina 3-0, so whatever".

Ominous!

Oh, by the way if you're in anyway interested in soccer (football to most of the universe) then tune in to the second half. You might witness one of the great teams of the tournament. No really, I mean that, they have been awesome so far.

EDIT: The goal scored by Cambiasso in the first half is the best I've E.V.E.R. seen. Yes, I'm excited! Make sure you see the whole play leading up to the goal.

It bit of a shame that only the third mathc - which might proof the least exciting in that pool is Holland vs Argentina..

Oh and on the Holland vs Germany thing.. It goes from one to the other.. It's just a bit of healthy rivalry.. The helmets where a hit though I just think it's funny. It doesn't depict a nazicross or anything simular.. Just an orange helmet with Jetss geehhhttt loossss (the type being used in WWII)..

Doing the goosewalk thing and stuff are just stupid.. The Dutch didn't get a warning for that.. We may do stupid things :P But that...

The only comment we see on telivision from my drunk countrymen is: "Well, surprisingly, they are quite nice.."

Did any of you see the sports commentator that stood within a dutch crowd? Or was that only aired here?

Man, SMT sucks.

I mean, I know America also sucks, but SMT really blows...

EDIT
Wow.

How did my sister describe their golie's style... oh, yeah.

"Falling on the ground and pretending to die."

Further Edit

I didn't have a desire to see anyone in particular win when I started watching, but now I really want to see The Ivory Coast beat the Dutch.

Still, they broke your silly streak, for which I am quite happy.

Now I get to look forward to Argentina kicking the crap out of the Dutch. That'll be great.

EDIT

I really wanted to see Mexico win, but Angola put on such a good show that I can't help but have absolute respect for them.

I'll be cheering them on in their game against Iran.
