Non-game specific matters
This is not a diss against the system. The system is fun and when I started out I was proud of every point I got. All the people who've XPed me over the years, I really am grateful for the points you gave me. But what means more to me are the kind comments you've left. I'm bowing out of receiving XP, ever again, but I hope to continue to earn your trust and adventuring companionship. It's my hope, also, that we can all remember to focus on having fun, and contributing to games and the community, just for their own sake, too. (/paladin... ) --ridin gaijin

Sure bow out now when I was poised to over take you...
![]() I'm a type A personality and I have a stupid desire to get the most points. I've really only come on with RPXP now that I play with Players that have 5000 Posts on average. I probably get the same amount of doses of RPXP as I used to when I was first playing, but I used to play with users that had under 1000 posts...

Not exactly. I'd have to give you rp xp and then give you 2 doses of neg rpxp ![]() Or give you rpxp and then reset your xp to 0... The first one is more comic

See? The allure...

I fully agree with ridin gaijin. Xp can be neet to get. But in the end (cough) it means little. Yeh, I'm a newbie next to all of you. But felt the need to comment. I've played with people with tons of xp. that can't play a character without throwing around negative remarks to others, swearing, and forbid- terrible spelling and grammer! Yet, I've seen some players with mega-posting and little xp. A new person that posted Four times had a load of xp. How can you base xp. on popularity or buddies...or smoozing. I think that if someone really puts some thought in a post and it fits the game, or whatever, you give 'em xp. I'm currently running my first game. And to be honest, I thought the Administers were the only ones that could give xp. And that when upgrades were done, that's when they dished it out. Heh, but then I thought about it... How can a handfull of people keep track of all the games and players to dish out the xp? About a month ago, if that, my friend HaplessWithDice, tells me he gave me xp. back in December. And then I realized how it was done. So now, I go through my game and well...games that I read and give xp. to anyone with an interesting and thoughtful post. Not every good post, though. That would get carried away, I think.
Sorry to keep rambleing. But the Almighty XP. may help get you in a game, but won't make that game more fun. To me, this site is about people all over the world getting together at one awesome site and having fun. (and for a few moments a day-atleast) forgetting your personal problems. |

My grandma just died a few minutes ago, back in New York. It was expected, she was 95 and in poor health, and my dad was holding her hand as she left. I'm working out travel arrangements Santa Fe --> NYC now, but I expect to be unpredictable for tomorrow, 4/7, through about Wednesday, 4/11.
I'll be checking in here to moderate stuff when I can, also the admins know how to get in touch if needed. Thank you, rg

I am sorry to hear this RG. Even though it is expected, things such as this still find a way to make us sad. I know. Hang in there buddy.

My thoughts and good wishes to you and your family. A loss of a loved one sucks- even when expected. I really feel for your dad being there. My parents are old and not in the greatest shape. I dread that day... Hope your trip is a safe one.
