I recently read both The Lies Of Locke Lamora and The Name Of The Wind, both were very good. I have a small problem with the end of "Lies" but I can't even put my finger on what it is

Started reading Red Seas Under Red Skies.
Was told it wasn't as good as its predecessor. Will reserve judgment until I'm finished.

Currently reading And Another Thing..., by Eoin Colfer.
Does not seem to have the zing that Adams' books had. .

Adams had the brilliant mind of the rambler, able to continue a story based on almost no plot, ad lib-ing as he went. Things like that are hard to come across.
A great writer whose work made a great impression on me

I'm adding that to my Amazon list for the winter - I didn't even know that a sixth book had been written! I'm definitely willing to give it a shot.

Not entirely displeased with that, though. It puts a face on the names. .

I found the film versions of the characters to be fairly similar to how I had pictured them while reading. Major differences were that I didn't pick up that Ford was black, Zaphod's heads swapped vertically instead of the traditional dual shoulder mount, and I pictured Marvin as square.

Hmmm. Continuing the sub-thread of Popular series being taken over by other authors, I just discovered Foundation and Chaos, part of the Second Foundation series, written by Greg Bear. I wonder how Asimov-like they are...

Currently reading lots of strategy manuals. Seven military classics of ancient china is what I'm in the middle of exactly, and after that...maybe finish reading napoleon's maxims, or Clausewitz's book. I need to find me a copy of Infanterie graft an, if anyone knows of it.
