Pathfinder: Spell to change the look of an unwilling target

Do any of you have suggestions on a spell that can change the look of another (unwilling target).

Lets say: the police hunts a magic wielding thief. He runs by a apple-selling peasant. the thief takes his time to throw a spell and transform (illusion?) the peasant into a complete mirrored image of himself before he vanishes. The police captures the peasant as a result and the thief can escape.

If it makes any difference, I actually need the spell to be something more general than an actual mirror-image. Like the peasant was transformed into a rogue-looking person...

baleful polymorph absolutely.
disguise other
seeming

silent image would do it, to an extent. Minor image, as well.

You should be careful with this, as I'm sure not all GMs would agree. I typically refer to this series of articles when figuring out how to deal with illusions. Silent Image and its relatives are Figment spells--they can't make something (or someone) appear to be something else. You need a Glamer spell to do that.

yeah, I've never understood how you can have a figment, and it can't make "something" appear like something else.

given that practically everything in the universe is something...

In the example provided in the article, even, makes no sense to me...

You can't make a doorway appear to be a wall. But you can make it appear to have a door. But, not a door that looks like a wall. It could be a brick door, in a brick wall, perhaps, but it can only look like a bricked up doorway, never a solid brick wall.

So, you can make air look like bricks or doors, but not a wall... oh wait. Air is something. And you can't make something look like something else. Except sand. You can make sand look like bubbling water. Or something like that.

Thanks for the replies. Both of you. I think 'seeming' was what I was aiming for.

polymorph transform into animals and I guess disguise other would have to be a willing target?

but, seeming is spot on.

Thanks for the help.

Disguise Other
School illusion (glamer); Level bard 2, inquisitor 2, sorcerer/wizard 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range touch
Target creature touched
Duration 10 minute/level (D)
This spell functions as disguise self, except you can disguise either yourself or another creature.

It doesn't allow for a saving throw or anything. Use Disguise self on yourself and Disguise other on the man.
