Ysolde,

Glad to see you making another game.

So would you allow a Fellknight Spriggan with half-fiend template?

Is Sphere of power allowed?

Another question, any traits allowed? Just 1 with drawback or any "free" traits?

Another question came to mind. Would you allow replacing racial hit dice with class levels, up to max of 14?

I just want to check, when making a monster PC we apply the creature's stats before we spend the 15 points, rather than after as you would the bonus stats of a standard race. So if you wanted to increase your strength from 12 to 16, rather than buying the stat up to 14 and adding +2 (costing 5 pts), you start with a stat of 12 (2pts) and buy it up to 16 (10 pts) for a total cost of 8 points (10-2=8). Would that be correct, or is it the other way around?
If that's so, does that mean you can't increase a stat above 18 using point buy?

Generally, you can calculate a monster's Ability modifiers by substracting 10 from even numbers and 11 from odd numbers. A monster whose stats are listed:

Str: 15 Dex: 12 Con: 13 Int: 14 Wis: 18 Cha 23

would have the following ability modifiers:

Str: +4, Dex +2, Con +2, Int +4, Wis +8, Cha +12.

At least that is how it worked in D&D 3.5. I don't think Pathfinder has an official way to reverse engineer ability modifiers, but I could be wrong.

With a 15 point buy, you would spend your points as normal starting from 10 to every stat and then add the racial ability modifiers as calculated above.

At least, that is how I would do it and how 3.5 handled monster stats.

Application
right-aligned image

Name: Metanoia (Character Sheet)
Gender: Male
Racial Makeup: Balisse Angel, Templates: Advanced (+1CR), Giant (+1 CR)
Class: Unchained Monk (Scaled Fist) / 2, Swashbuckler / 8, Paladin / 2

Description:

This celestial being’s body looms nine feet tall and four hundred pounds. When he invokes magic, his body becomes shrouded and obscured by darkness; but at all times his glorious wings glow brilliantly around him, outlining the silhouette of a timelessly handsome man with shining yellow eyes.

In combat, Metanoia wields various piercing monk weapons, fencing with panache and spirit.

Short Bio: In mortal life ages ago, there was a mighty dragon-blooded swashbuckler named Jevarre. In his quest for both love and glory, he set his heart upon a princess, and at her bidding and for her sake devastated his home nation. He failed to win her love for her heart was cold; he was betrayed to die, and perished an anguished and abandoned tool.

In the transmigration of souls, that lost spirit ranged far and eventually found redemption and transformation. At the Spire of Repentance he became one of the Balisse Angels, one of the lesser orders of angels dedicated to supporting distraught souls find their way straight. He took a new name, Metanoia, which means literally repentance or a change of mind.

Like many of the Balisse, he is a solitary being. His mind was fogged, and he knows not exactly why he does as he does: for he is a servant to a purpose not fully in his awareness. He leads individuals in distress toward repentance, if he can, and he has lead more than to the Spire, where he believes those in direst need may as he did find help.

Above all, Metanoia feels drawn to those in need, and in dilemmas. He is not affiliated in any conventional sense with the massed armies of heaven, but rather follows instinct upon his solitary and unconventional road. That leads him, at times, into unusual associations for an angel.

In his long years of service, he has gradually grown in size and strength above the norm for his order, for each time he has lead a soul in a dilemma, he has advanced by an increment.

Metanoia has also come to recall a small measure of the skills he once had as a mortal swashbuckler, and that has given him a martial style unlike others of his order. This gives him skills in combat he relishes, yet it also disturbs him in a manner he cannot fathom yet. He thought that old, foolish, wrong-doing man Jevarre was gone and that his own repentance was complete. But while most of what he once was was erased, an aspect remains along with the skills he has recovered, and he knows not whether that is good or ill.

Metanoia met Seikarath when she was a young alchemist, and when she wrestled with a private temptation. He will not discuss other's secrets, he takes his role as a confessor most solemnly. But he has manifested to her or her patients off and on, in their hours of trouble over the years, whether it is to lend a kind and patient counselor's ear -- or whether it is to take up arms in their defense. She trusts him based on this bond of shared experience and affection. He would go through hell because rescuing the lost is just what he does. And since he was himself, reshaped at the Spire, he seeks opportunity find others her can take there as well; in the calculate that drives his thinking, it is worth great risks.

Calculation of CR

Pardon for the last minute rebuilds this character has gone through, as the creation thread has described the builds as allowed substantially more class levels than I first realized.

So CR 14 is breaks down as:
CR 8 for the angel -- but trading 8 "racial HD for class level"
+2 CR for the templates
+4 CR for 4 class levels to close the gap
= 14

So the total character levels are 12 -- 4 for the gap and 8 from converted racial HD.

Unchained Monk (Scaled Fist) / 2 -- to get AC bonus and evasion
Paladin / 2 -- dip for divine grace
Swashbuckler / 8 -- the core class for the swashbuckling angel

Under the hood the build maximizes Charisma-based abilities, and light piercing attacks.

Name: Mazrikiel
Gender: Male
Racial Makeup: Monadic Deva
Class: Cavalier
Description: Tall, nearing 7 feet, black hair that reaches past his shoulder blades, golden eyes. He keeps his hair neatly braided

Short Bio: Born on the plains of blood and battle (Or so the story is told whenever he goes drinking), Mazrikiel is a soldier of order, in a realm full of chaos. He doesn't remember anything prior to his service to this land.
How you know Seikarath and why she would trust you to help her: He knows Seikarath because in a fit of stupidity, or drink, or both, Mazrikiel found himself facing off against opponents that easily overwhelmed him. Laying in his own blood, Seikarath found him, took him to her residence and used her alchemy to close his wounds, allowing his body to heal. She trusts him only because he was going against commands by being out alone that night.
Alignment: What is this mythical thing you call "Alignment"? Does it have to do with the stars, or the planets?

Murdus the Bleak
left-aligned image
Name: Murdus the Blacksmith
Gender: Male
Racial Makeup: Efreeti noble
Class: Fighter
Description: The demesnes of Murdus was near the boundary with the Elemental Plane of Earth and, unsurprisingly, his physique reflects that proximity. His obsidian skin is criss-crossed with glowing red lines suggestive of a blasted volcanic landscape. His naked upper torso is powerfully built and decorated with the gold and brass jewelry that is so beloved by his kind. His legs are covered by loose-fitting pantaloons tucked into black boots made from the skin of some unknown abyssal beast. A purple sash girds his waist, a solitary reminder of his noble heritage. When angry or when the fury of battle is upon him, fire wreathes his body and an inner glow reminiscent of his forge escapes from his eyes and mouth.

Short Bio: The Elemental Plane of Fire is a realm of eternal destruction and conquest. The lords of that burning empire forever contend with one another for material and political advantage. Hordes of elementals advance, fight, and retreat at their masters' behest. Grand efreeti viziers broker deals and wage wars against each other to improve their station within the fabled City of Brass. Murdus was one of these great Efreeti warlords but too many defeats too close together signaled his loss of power and summary exile.

Such a one has few choices when he leaves his homeland. The once-great efreet found succor in the Abyss within the Kingdom of Etienne. He came across a town that was in desperate need of a blacksmith and thus, one who had commanded legions of flame elementals found a new beginning as a simple craftsman. Murdus also found an unlikely wife in the town's brewmistress. River was a disgraced djinni who had also fled to Etienne to escape her past. Unsurprisingly, the relationship had a... fiery beginning, but each of them despised their ancestral homes in equal measure so over time the two grew to love each other and became betrothed.

They built a tower next to the alchemist, Seikarath, from which both now ply their respective trades. Murdus has his smithy out front while River brews her ales and pilsners upstairs. Seikarath provided the salves and other components necessary for the birth of their daughter, Furia. Since then River and Seikarath have been fast friends. By Murdus' account, the two spend their time inventing new ways to make his life more difficult. His response is to spend more and more time in his shop with his pet hellhounds, Minnie and Max.

Alignment Motivation: It would be a lie worthy of an efreeti to say that Murdus doesn't miss his home and his old way of life. However, he could never have imagined how content he would be in is new home in the Abyss. While just a simple blacksmith now, Murdus would fight against any odds to protect his family, his new town, and his new life. You might even say that he values an orderly society but has no predilection either way about how beneficent or malignant that society is.

Name: Cameron
Gender: Male
Racial Makeup: Cambion (CR2)
Class: 12th level Slayer
Description: He stands at 6 feet even, red skin, including glowing red eyes. He has two horns on his bald head, cloven hooves for feet, and ears slanted. Muscular build. Sword at the hip and a bow at his back.
right-aligned image

Short Bio: His mother, a human, was vain that wanted power and filled with greed. An incubus, a demon sought her out with temptation and she gladly accepted. The demon took her to the Abyss and created a child, and because of this, the child was a Cambion. As he grew up, his father was gone half of the time, his mother worshiped the demon Socothbenoth. Being a cambion, his mother thought it be cute to name him Cameron.

Once he became an adult, he became a slayer and he was good at his job and he was good at it for two reasons, the first was obvious, when a more powerful demon gives an order, you don't disappoint. The second was he had enjoyed his job, it was a thrill to hunt and kill. Years goes by and his father was seen less and less and his mother grew old. Socothbenoth was his sole boss now and he did what he was told gladly. When his mother died, there was no fanfair, no speech, or anything.

It was on of his moody days when he went after his target that he was given. He was used to be alone but lately, he was in a funk and didn't know why, perhaps he was getting bored, there wasn't much thrill anymore. It was felt like he was hunting a trapped victim, there was no challenge. Then one day he had caught his victim and this one was different. He was on the ground, his family was nearby, waiting for the inevitable. The man slowly gotten back to his feat, grit determination shown on his face. Normally, his victims lose their will power and give up but this mortal looked at his family and it seem to give him strength. Cameron looked upon him curiously. He was taught that feelings was weakness, caring about others will cause your downfall. This man though wounded, was actually gaining strength and courage through love of others Love, he never really experienced that, when he done a good job, he got a slap on the back, but if he had failed at something, he would know about in a heartbeat. The man held his weapon firmly, although both of them knew the end result. At first, it made Cameron mad, how dare this mortal had love when he himself had none, he looked at the family and he remembered hearing about The Spire of Repentance.

Repentance...he heard about it, actually knew a couple that went through it and they were changed and seem much happier than before. Their skills never diminished nor their determination, if anything, it was like this man. Then it hit him, the man had something to fight for, granted, he will lose, but he had a strong reason. The only thing kept Cameron going was to please his boss and not be punished. The glory of the hunt had wore off. He then saluted the man and left him there, sparing his life.

He went directly to The Spire of Repentance, looked at it. He was asked if he was sure he was he was ready for this, it was his choice, not theirs. He took a deep breath and nodded and went through. He did not know what to expect, not in a million lifetimes. He felt...weight lifted off of him, yes, felt some guilt as well, but he felt...whole. For the first time, he actually felt whole. He knew he could never go back, not now. He was told about Mushroom town and he went there and saw others and there was no tensions when they made eye contact with each other. He felt more...relaxed. It was different, it was...pleasant. He looked around and realized that this now home.

How you know Seikarath and why she would trust you to help her: During a accident, he took the wounded to Seikarath and he would see her now and then. They became friends thereafter. He can't remember ever having a friend before and it felt nice. She cared about others, demons on the other hand, they only care about themselves. Cameron realizes the world needed more like Seikarath.
