Yes, Leviticus, I was the daytime manager and there were long periods without any business. A player or two would show up and we would game, no dice, everything in my head, but it passed the time while I made dough, sauce, and cheese to be used later in the day.

Howdy THAN0S,

Ingenious way to get that username. So, truth in lending, I'm a D&D player to my core. Lately it's been 5e, which I like a lot but my favorite version is AD&D. At one time or another I've played a whole host of RPGs. We have a little bit of everything here and lot of some games, D&D 5e and PF to be specific. Do you prefer games that tell stories or hack and slash? What is your favorite character class and race if you have one? Brie or feta?

This is a great place to scratch your RPG itch and interact with some great DMs and players. There is some incredible role playing going on here. I thought I was a pretty good story teller, but I have been put to shame by the quality of many of the players...and I have learned a lot. I sent a link to one such site below that has been going on continuously for over 40 years and has been only for close to twenty. I've been lucky to be a part of it for three years...so yes, there are some games that have longevity here. You should check out the Hall of Fame games over the years for others.

As Kenjitsu said, you may want to check out a solo game. Even if you have PbP experience each site is a bit different.

This is a place where the people are welcoming, where the games are interesting, and where generally they only expect you to post a few times a week. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and I thought I've seen it all, but this site has some amazing games going on. I've been playing (storytelling as much as rolling) for a few years now in a game that has been going on continuously for four decades, started tabletop and moved online two decades ago. It's set in an alternate Europe where the worlds of Tolkien and Howard existed in ages past. So there is a hint of LOTR and a hint of Conan in it and since it's set in an alt Europe it somehow feels familiar.

This is just one example and there are other great campaigns on RPGX. You should take some time to "stroll around" the site and see if anything catches your eye.

I hope to see you around on the boards.

@Ildrahil

I have played all kinds of games, from heavy intellectual puzzle to over the top hack and slash to tournaments of pvp. I prefer a mix of things at this point in my life, but prefer not to deal with major moral issues.

Class, well that is very interesting. I wrote a paper for my Psychology professor in college that researched and theorized about the actualization level of a person based on their favorite character class. The reason being is that generally, when I was younger, I liked fighters. I eventually played and enjoyed healers/clerics, but they were generally had a fair amount of fighting skills and abilities. My first AD&D character was a Calimshan Assassin hired by the Sultan of the thieves guild to infiltrate the PC party and steal the Ring of Winter. Gaining the PC's trust as a character with a shielded alignment was no small feat. Also, there were two endings to that campaign so I personally wouldn't get beaten up ;-). I moved from there to play mostly mages or magic users of some kind or another in most games (Shadowrun is so much more fun with guns and magic). My paper put the classes in that general order for increased levels of self actualization. The professor awarded me an A+ and would consult me at least once a semester for ideas on different ways to experiment with Roleplaying as a means of psychoanalysis.

Race: Human or augmented human. I have never been a big fan of non-human races in games, but I have played one Troll, one Elf, and one short lived Dwarf in Shadowrun....all mages or summoners. Trog the Healer troll was probably my favorite 2nd Edition SR character in terms of non-human. I also played some kind of lizard thing in Earthdawn, but didn't like that system over much.

Vampire: Tremere, Nos, Ventrue in that order.
Mage: Akashik Brotherhood, Order of Hermes, Sons of Ether
Werewolf: Whitefang Philodox, Child of Gaia (anything)

Favorite Super Hero Power: Teleportation

Battletech: Iceferret D, Masakari Prime/A

Exalted: Dawn or Night Caste, Air Dragonblooded, Starmetal Alchemical. I also was invited to make a 800xp version of Thanos as an abyssal which was fun. Never got to play it past the first game session, to many ego's got in the way of the GM actually telling the story.

Arrggghhh more Amber invaders. Will we see you in other games or even out trying to convert the masses?

Do you have a first name here and is it More or Less?

Given the time and mental constrains of having a family, teaching 3 science subjects, and the Amber game I am currently enjoying means that branching out to other games may not happen. I am serious when I commit to a game. I nearly fell over when I saw that Dave was running a new Amber game (having been an OG in his original). There are few people online that I have met and like and in 'My Enemies Have Sweet Voices' I get to RP with two of the best. This means I will not jeopardize burnout or anything close to it by over extending.

Oooh, an educator! Welcome to the Crossing, Than0s! Please do not use your Eternity Glove throughout the duration of your stay here

I have no idea what system Amber is like. What do you think are its best elements?
