5/17/17:

Greetings folks,

So today my life became busier on two fronts. The first is that sometime in the last two weeks I apparently had a heart attack. I have a new Cardiologist and have to wear an event monitor for 30 days, get an ultrasound and a stress test (both scheduled in the next two weeks).

The second item is much better news. I have been appointed the Senior Police and Fire Chaplain for Sweeny, TX, the small community of about 6k residents where we live. I will be their first ever chaplain and be writing their entire policy and procedure manual, hire and train an associate chaplain and setting up the program from scratch. This process will take months. It I quite an honor and privileged, but will clearly impact my availability.

I do not plan on dropping any games at this time however, my posting rate will likely slow down. Of course, depending on the first issue, should I die then posting will definitely be impacted. In that case please NPC me forever.

I appreciate and thank you for your understanding and I will post updates as I know more.

5/26 Life is EXTREMELY busy. Medical tests, court, Jury duty, Writing Policy and training manuals. I am trying to stay caught up. Feel free to bump me anytime.

5/30: Court Tomorrow (Not a bad thing, just a thing). I have Aortic Valve Stenosis and regurgitation. Had a stress test today and waiting on results of that and my 30 day cardiac monitor.

6/20: Tropical Storm Cindy will make landfall about 50 miles from us on Thursday Morning. Anything may happen here.

6/22: Good News, storm mostly missed missed us - ome rain and wind but nothing else. Now however, half our house has no floor. Small leak under it (for 2 years it seems) destroyed two floor joists. So now its replacing 4 rooms (Bath, Master bedroom, dining room and kitchen) and leveling the house as well.

Sometimes you just can't win.

7/6: Traveling to Oregon from Mon. 7/10 to Fri. 7/14m for Son's wedding.

7/15: Back Home. A bit of Jetlag but should be catching up this weekend. Monday at the latest.

8/22: Well I am again writing from the Hospital. It is serious, but stable for now. I hope to be here only a few days, mayhaps through Friday. Posting should not be effected as I have lots of free time...LOL

 

So some of you know I was here last year at this time for a week. I have osteomyelitis, a bone infection. The treatment is a very strong IV antibiotic called Vancomycin. It is given twice a day for 6 weeks by a nurse at home, so they will put a PICC line in my arm today or tomorrow.

I also have some tests to be done to try and find out why I keep getting Osteo. Surgery is a possibility, but not probable at the moment. Thanks for the concern many of you express.

This to shall pass.

8/24: I should go home today - that is the plan. I have 6 weeks of home IV Antibiotics to look forward to. Yeh me.

8/26: The Hurricane came in as a Category 4. Within hours our house was flooded and we had to evacuate. We are now in Waco, TX, 225 Miles north and out of danger. The storm has stalled and we won't even be able to get home for 3 to 4 days.

8/28: Update We evacuated our home on Friday, 8/25. Our city is closed. No power, water or gas. No emergency services. Mandatory evacuation of all 6000 residents. This is an unprecedented and catastrophic event. I have been through 4 other Hurricanes and this is far and above the worst.

We are 225 miles north in Waco, TX at a hotel and are safe. It will be at LEAST another week, and may be 2 before we can even get home to Sweeny, TX. We do not know if we will even have a home to return to. And that will not be the end. Houston, TX has record breaking flooding. ALL that water flows into the Brazos River and goes south to the gulf of Mexico.

So besides bout 8 FEET of rain in Brazoria County where we live, a few days after it stops we will get all of that water that is flowing south. The river is already FEET over its banks. We live about 1 mile away from it.

In short we are effed.

Having said that, I MAY post some today or tomorrow from the hotel here. If I can manage to focus the distraction may be good, but the anxiety is off the charts for me. I deeply covet your thoughts, prayers or positive energies that you may send my way.

9/2: We are still on Mandatory Evacuation in Waco, TX. Now at a FEMA Paid Motel with a kitchen so that will help with costs a lot. Still no idea if we will have no damage, need a wet-vac or need a new home. The Brazos river is expected to crest tonight.

The latest projection to get home is 9/13. If that happens it will be just shy of 3 weeks being displaced.

9/4/17: Good News/Bad News

The Good News: The mandatory Evacuation will be lifted tomorrow at 8 AM so we can go home and see what damage we have.

The Bad News: I am hospitalized in Waco (225 miles from home) for my foot. It became significantly worse over the last 3 days and is now infected.

9/5: Update:

More Good News: My wife, Jenn is home safe. We have Minimal flood damage!

More Bad News: I had surgery this morning to have my toe amputated. Will be stuck here at least another week.
