I'm dipping formulae a bit to, but primarilly for buffs (I think). But really even if there is over lap, I don't think it's a huge deal. Formulae are like spell casting, they bring a lot of diversity to a build and thus to a party, and having that across multiple people isn't a bad thing. That flexibility is one of the things that makes spheres great, everyone can help cover one another's bases a little.

Name: Llordaeron Yaeru (Lloyd)
Race: Human (Mummy lord/Kyton but I'll accept anything if those are taken)
Class: Volcanic spirit guide
Intended Role: A diviner (using the entrails of what's on hand or bones usually) and healer, using negative energy in our case. Keeping himself alive with peculiar star energies accumulated inside nearby volcanos.
In the damage department he has telekinetic abilites acquired from his native land/genetics as well as harnessing geothermal flames while stabbing enemies with a sword-spear and letting them bleed out.
Outside of combat he is a diplomat and part time alchemist, supplying the party with some equipment depending on the amount of downtime. He doesn't sleep much which gives him some additional time to put things together for his party.

Alignment: Lawful evil with chaotic good tendencies.
Spheres / Schools: Divination heavily and pyromancy.

 

A corpulent crimson lizard propels his head at him and through him, rending his arm from his body, bones cracking as he does so. Too fast to process any sort of pain. Only a brief pressure and the sound of the wind breaking as it's fangs fly forward ending in a snap like thunder.
Standing at the bottom of his volcanic homestead the blood of a silver dragon mingles with his in the volcanic ashes. Like a queue his home begins to splutter it's contents. A considerable splash causes his back to blister and peel instantly. Neither can feel it.
"I wasn't trained for this." Lloyd subvocalizes referring to the dragon, his fear and loss. In his indecision he plants the butt of his serrated sword-spear into the ground, bracing it as the dragon coils with his remaining arm leaning as much as he can into it.
The red brute sits looking at the bloody stump of what was once a proud tail, his own force providing the cutting power of the braced blade. It got some distance on it and takes a long time to finally hit the ground again to Lloyd's amusement, enhanced at the sight of it's bloody rump scrambling over an ash pile in retreat. "I'm going to have a good time hunting you Salamander!" He goads.
Then the pain hits him.

 

Height: 6'0 | Weight: Will depend on race somewhat but on the gaunt side.
Age: Middle aged (partial amnesiac) | Skin: Extremely pale
Hair: Changes depending on the spirits he has aligned himself with that day but usually it's pure white.
Eyes: Volcanic red.
Usual Attire: A dark red kimono depicting a hellscape among mountains. He dons whatever armour he's taken a fancy to at the time underneath while using a deeply serrated sword-spear as a walking stick.

Standing at the mouth of the volcano Llordaeron finishes breathing in the noxious fumes emanating from a nearby flue. Barely able to stand from his personalized treatment he leans heavily on his serrated sword-spear as he clanks down the side of the mountain with extra swagger in his platemail glowing from the radiating heat.
The magic maintains his favourite red robe enchanted with an extradimensional space he uses to abduct people for more in depth interrogations, explaining a pathetic writhing on the left side of his chest. His oversized prosthetic draconic hand, a darker red against the robe, slaps the mass playfully and his voice reverberates "Soon...".

 

Llordaeron can be mischievious. Immortality does that to some. After recovering from his various losses it has kept him going along with his scientific hobbies.

A thinker, tactically and just for the fun of it with reading, experiments and experiencing new culture (literature, food, rituals, people).

He hides a temper under humour because it has failed him in the past during multiple missions. He is also filled with so much hatred for others already that there just isn't room for any more under regular circumstances.

Lloyd likes to relax. Hard. When not footing through the hills in the night or toiling before his bubbling devices and combining reagents or intimidating nosy officials Lloyd is willing to spend lavishly for a banquet or similar celebration just for the sake of having it.

Despite his social skills he has become a recluse after his escape from strathmoor focusing on alchemy. He has gone so far as to peddle purified necrosalts (a weapon that could be used against him) to adventurers delving into undead infested dungeons among other things. A testament to his dual nature and his personal way of letting Amelia rest in peace.

 

He was a genetically modified human bred to rule a nation of psychics dwelling in an invisible floating city who bind themselves to dark entities. During the final ritual of his ascension to the brotherhood photons from a goodly dying neutron star actually took the place of a black spirit as was intended. The result is a dual being of good and evil. He fights battles within himself much of the time which causes him to appear unsettling with an uncanny valley appearance if he loses concentration.
Lloyd has spent most of his life in an asylum for the criminally insane where he was abused chemically and electrically. He intends to get revenge. His stay began by a vicious insult to a noble (demetrious?).
As a way to prolong his suffering he was intentionally embalmed without anesthetic by the surgeons resulting in his immortal mummified life.
He has lost his left arm in a fight with the red dragon Niddhog over his wife Amelia a silver dragon now with Llordaeron. He had it recreated with the flesh of its carcass after slashing Nidhoggs tail off with his sword-spear but he ultimately escaped.
His "treatments" in the sanatarium after his wife died caused partial amnesia so his time in the floating city is blank. Certain spirits possessing him can cause relapses. He does not recall the circumstances of his departure from his homeland as a result.

 

As a character Lloyd would like to experience the culture of the city and ensure the dragon that killed his wife and amputated his arm is dead and suffering in a plane of misery (demetrious revenge fantasy omitted).
As a player I want mastery of radiation, developing ways to harness it alchemically if possible and the creation of a multipurpose tool of learning and destruction. A telescope developed after gaining control of the city through the hands of many scientists to see how his star is faring or creating a ray of destruction on neighbouring kingdoms. This I intend to use for the development of my own kingdom.

 

Lloyd is aware of an even darker secret involving Demetrious and some of his lackeys (Dm's discretion). This could be them using the sanatarium as a area to torture people which would mesh with the story.
Lloyd is not aware that his native people are hunting him down to be destroyed thanks to his twin's coronation to seal his right to rule and also out of bitterness towards Lloyd who was considered a perfect specimen and is still compared more favourably by the creator.

 

Amelia, his ex wife and passionate silver dragon. A peculiar pairing formed during a goodly moment as Lloyd freed a colony of subjugated dwarves from the tyranny of a rogue necromancer whose ideals didn't match with his. She was instantly in love, although he made sure to never mention his personal stake in the matter. Her happiness was intact and they had bliss until her enraged ex lover intervened.
Niddhog, Amelias enraged lover who took his arm and crawled away after the battle (a few feet of tail shorter which is now melded to Lloyd). Eventually returning and slaying her as Lloyd was gathering reagents.
Tevildo, a mysterious black cat with the gift of speech who ensured Lloyd's escape from the sanatarium for a price. His saviour and also a cause of his continued incarceration due to only Lloyd being able to see him. Only communicates in dark speech (or a similar occult gutteral language).

 

Lloyd's likeability can be switched on and off at his will and touches into various alignments depending on circumstances. Ex: He has previously been on a quest to retrieve a store of mead unlawfully procured by bandits, after succesfully talking them out of it without bloodshed their leader adds a rude "Be quick about it or I'll get me shillelagh!" Going into a rage after spending an obnoxious amount of time attempting to be diplomatic he violates him with said shillelagh and causes an eruption of magma to ignite his forest dwelling and unintentionally burning up the mead he was originally sent for. This was his worst relapse on the righteous path when he was with Amelia which he didn't have the heart to inform her of.

Due to the purpose he was bred for (ruling a nation of psychics) he has a desire to nuture the society he is tasked with caring for.
Loves to read massive quantities of literature. This was his hobby when he wasn't training in social and psychic arts.

A chain smoker with a love of exotic foods (pickled spiders, whale flesh, dragon meat, etc). He had a horribly boring monodiet of plain oatmeal for decades and craves variety. This monodiet was imposed on him by his people to enhance psychic potential. His diet in the sanatiarium wasn't much better.

His writing is beautiful to look at and is well written. It has a tidiness, flow and a hint of flourishing at key points which is mesmerizing. One of the few mandatory lessons he actually enjoyed.

A man of his word. If he breaks it he becomes nauseated. A trait that was beaten into him by his creator.

I've been staring at this thread for a few days now, wanting to really try and bring something interesting to this particular flavor of 'villainous' game. And I think I have something that I can finish before the deadline!

Used to put flowers in his antlers.   Taking after his name, Aegion is patient. Cooking, carving, animals, people, Aegion will be calm and understanding to those that show it to him in kind. Or at least an inkling of it in interactions with him. If not, he can turn cold, curt, and even verbally cutting down those that disrespect him or his allies. There are times where he seems to just drift along as he walks, looking at nothing in particular with a wistful smile on his face. As if he's not actually part of this place he's in, but off far, far away somewhere else. If allowed he'll drone endlessly about philosophy and our place in the vast tapestry of existence and it'll take a long while before he's silenced. Typically either bribed with baked goods, threats, or brandy. Despite his, perhaps, typical seer of the forest appearance and demeanor, the Elf is quite the lush. Naturally it takes a full barrel to get him properly sauced but he loves drinking. Wine, beer, mead, liquor, and particularly brandy. If he gets enough he becomes more of a relaxed, bubbly, outgoing sort of person that's more willing to use his powers to help others. Like re-growing entire fields and orchards with produce after being ravaged by bandits or bad weather. Rarely does he ever get angry. But should his temper snap his fury is swift and all-encompassing, and never again is the argument had. He's a diligent study, a happy drunk, and a powerful Druid with all the force and fury that comes with.   Aegion never liked his name growing up. It always made him sound like he was bound for just great heights, and thus, had heavy expectations put upon him. Not to mention his unusually large Elven family had many of its members alive and well so he got no end of hearing about how his name was chosen and what it meant. Being taught by highly acclaimed tutors, sent to the Acadamae Arcanum Esta for furthering his no-doubt-burgeoning magical talents, and a well-planned schedule in order to gain the maximum benefit to all these privileges granted to him! Aegion quit the Acadamae barely 10 years in and never went home. He broke under the pressure and just wanted to be by himself for awhile. He had failed to manifest any sort of arcane potential and couldn't bear going home to face the titanic expectations his family had for him. To his young mind, this was the better option; To sever all ties and only return when he was ready to do so. His college funds did go a long way to financing this journey of self-discovery though, indulging in all the things he had been denied up until this point. Drink, women, even a few men, food, gambling, festivals, and just being able to explore the world at his leisure. Such explorations brought him to a clearing on a moonless night, where several bodies lay in a clearing. At first he thought they were corpses and made to investigate but got a sharp repromand from one of the Druids when poked with a stick. They were calling themselves the Circle of Endless Sky, and invited Aegion to join them. Just staring up at the sky. "...Are you looking for something?" he asked. "No." replied Tirn, the Druid who had snapped at him before. "Are you waiting for someone?" "No." "Do you expecting something to happen on this night?" "No." "...Then why are you all here?" "Answers." "To what?" "Everything." He honestly couldn't understand what could be seen in a black sky studded with stars, but he had no other place to be and the nice was comfortable in this clearing. As they all laid there in silence, Aegion must have drifted off and found himself afloat among that sea of stars he had been gazing at all night. All around him were points of light and streaks of colors to go along with them. He then was thrust into a point between two stars, hurtling towards the void at alarming speed! No air whipped past him, though it should have, and he came to an abrupt halt. Blackness all around him. No sound, no one else other than himself. Then, a spot of green. Then another. His vision exploded with deep green and lively browns as a whole forest erupted before his eyes. Animals of all walks of life made themselves known to him. Chittering, chirping, squeaking, roaring, barking, braying; All around him was life! A stag would approach him, with bizarre jet black fur and stark white spots, and speak to him; "Blanket the black sea in a verdant sky." The Elf jerked awake to see those Druids all standing around him. Just staring. He got up and quickly saw why. A sapling, bright green in color, had sprouted behind where his head had been and the grass had grown thicker. Along with that one of the Druids pointed out he had small nubs growing out of his forehead. Was... Was he growing antlers? After a brief discussion they agreed to take Aegion with them to meet the head of their Circle. Corso the Star-Eye. Since that day Aegion had found his calling, as a caller of nature and shaper of life around him. He had been given an extra-ordinary gift of a prophecy, given by that strange black buck from his dream. He had no idea how to accomplish such a task but he continued his journey, now training to hone his nature magic that had been awakened with the help of Master Corso. In that time he encountered a very strange group of people that had been very insistent on him going with them for some fancy ball, promising food and drink and even buying him a really fancy outfit to replace the 'awful rags and animal skins' he was wearing. That prompted a chilly response from him, and in a very literal sense thanks to his magic, and stormed off from the group of strangers. Only to be later taken by force later that night and coerced into posing as a dignitary from another kingdom in order for them to enter this party to find information on some person named Demetrious. Which at that point he had only heard rumors of but knew enough that he was not a man to be trusted and had managed to instill fear into the fringe villages he visited and breathed new life in to. He agreed in the end, scolded the stranger for their abysmal diplomacy, and said he would only help with this one matter then go back onto his own path.     5 Background and Concept Elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged! - Gained his antlers shortly after his induction into the Circle of Endless Sky. - Comes from a sizable Elven family. Oldest relative just had her 364th birthday. - Had been chosen to fulfill a vision from within the Circle to 'blanket the black sea in a verdant sky'. - Originally was recruited by the group in order to pose as a High Elf dignitary in order to ender a royal ball that could be cleaned out of riches as well as track down an informant to lead them to Demetrious. - Doesn't want revenge against Demetrious. He wants to tear apart the kingdom of Strathmore brick by brick and overrun it with ironwood trees, beasts under his control, and golems. 2 Goals for the Character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game. - Not just to kill Demetrious, but to see his whole empire crumble before his eyes. - To explore why the forces of nature would not only allow something like Aegion's return to occur at all, but allow him the full use of his powers while in such a defying state. 2 Secrets About Your Character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. - - 3 People That Are Tied to the Character. At least one of them is friendly to the character, and at least one is hostile. One of these characters should be tied to your character's Affiliation. - Corso the Star-eyed. His mentor. Ancient even by Elven standards he heads the Circle of Endless Sky. Took a particular interest in Aegion because of his antlers after awakening to his Druidic power. Oddly to-the-point and concise with his words despite his age. Wears a cloak studded in gemstones for each student he has had in his lifetime. - Torna Redtusk - A Half-Orc, and his first ever crush. Hated by anyone that saw her in his village but carried on regardless. Fascinated by her muscular build but her strangely warm eyes. Spent one night drinking with her with local apple brandy and earned a punch to the face after trying to kiss her. Though she wished him well before she left with her trade caravan. Hasn't spoken to her since. - Davros Firqod. Dragonborn Sorcerer that first challenged Aegion's Druidic powers while they were skulking around the Academae Arcanum Esta in order to combat the more potent protections around Demetrious. He felt confident fire and ice, the very elements nature could command, would serve to destroy it as well. Serving also as a fine distraction Aegion agreed and a magic duel was had. The Elf managed to come out on top, if only just, through clever uses of spells that couldn't easily be countered or Dispel'd. Plus a Shillelagh to the dragon's horde tends to put most out of a fight. 3 Memories, Mannerisms, or Quirks That Your Character Has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor. - When he had his first 'Walking Dream' under a sea of stars with his Circle. Whatever it was he thought he saw had a profound effect on how he viewed his place in the world and what it meant to fulfill this prophecy of the Circle of Endless Sky. - His first kiss. Painted with apple brandy and broken societal norms. - His final words to his allies before they faced Demetrious: "Whatever may come, don't fret. I will find us all again, wherever we may be, no matter how long it takes. And we will come up with a much less empty-headed plan." Referencing the first time they did anything together by having him pose as an Elven ambassador to enter a ball to acquire more info on Demetrious early in their 'career' as a group.

Here is a link to instructions on how to use "however" in a sentence. It is often used incorrectly and I thought I'd share it here since this is something of a pet peeve of mine.

I would also recommend that you check your use of tense in your writing and try as much as possible to remain consistent within your text. I often see writers switching back and forth and it is either wrong or it can be confusing to follow.

I would recommend proof reading your applications for these things as they often serve as a red flag for me when I am trying to determine whether or not I will enjoy someone's writing in a game.

Improper use of "their" and "they're" is also a huge red flag for me, though this is not nearly as prominent.

Do with this what you will, I merely wanted to share this little fact about me as a GM so that you all can take the time to polish things a bit before decision time on Friday.
