Application Name: Prismara Vatinus (Sister Poena) Race: Human Class: Vigilante (Masked Maiden) Alignment: LN (LE) Description: A certain deadness lies behind Prismara's amber eyes, as she often stares off into space... as if she's in another place. Her pale skin is marked with burns and scars, across nearly every inch of her body, especially across her face. Without these scars, Prismara would be considered conventionally beautiful by most people's standards. Sharp and symmetrical features, all of which has been, it seems, intentionally scarred to lessen their quality. The young woman's red hair is long and wavy, and it hangs just past her shoulder blades. Prismara's physique is one that speaks to an extensive physical regimen, focusing on endurance and strength training. Hard muscles flex underneath her scarred skin. Despite this, she holds herself with the air of a smaller and meeker person, closing herself off, as if to hide herself away. Though, this isn't the only way she presents herself... When her other persona surfaces itself, Prismara assumes an entirely different silhouette. Her physical form does not change, but merely the way she holds herself. Strong and upright, bristling with an air of so much defiant confidence, that even the way she walks it seems to be like that of another person. Though, most of her features are hidden, as this persona only arises once she dons her helmet of her Gray Maiden full plate. The old plate mail is of fine make, though it shows years of dings and scrapes, evident that it's well past it's heyday. The most striking part of the suit is of course the helmet, which has a featureless faceplate and a red horse-hair crest. The crest has since faded, but it's scarlet red colors are still evocative of it's former 'glory'. She also carries a heavy steel shield a longsword, and she wields these with expertise. Personality: There are two facets of her psyche, her true self, Prismara, and the Gray Maiden of her past, who goes by the name of Sister Poena. Prismara herself is a soft spoken young woman, who choses her words carefully. She has a soft kind heart, and she believes in doing things the 'right' way. Not one to break rules, she often is happy to be at the mercy of laws and traditions, so as to follow the status quo. Prismara has a love of all things beautiful, and often finds the time to see the beauty in things that others might otherwise overlook. Ballet was a big part in her life, and while she doesn't have many of her memories, her body remembers the forms and the beautiful dances that tell stories of happier times. In idle times, she often is counting choreography charts in her head. Under stress however, Prismara has to fight her mind from regressing back to her violent past self, but often she can't help herself. Other times, she CHOOSES to let the Gray Maiden out, knowing that she alone has the means of protecting her. Sister Poena is a grimly dedicated warrior. Curt and to the point, the Sister doesn't mince words when dangerous situations arise. Direct action and precise strategy is what's needed, not dawdling. Her concerns are with addressing threats and ENDING them as soon as possible to maintain the 'peace'. This is either with her blade and shield bashing, or with her well practiced method of intimidation and coercion. She wields her stature, the featureless mask of her helmet, and her cruel swords all as a means to exert her dark will on those lesser than her. Sister Poena isn't without charm however, deigning to offer respect to those who seem strong in will and purpose. The Gray Maiden however doesn't suffer foolery, or slights against her lightly however... often planning vendettas against those who dare to mock her. Background: Prismara grew up in the Varisian city of Korvosa, one of two daughters of a Varisian native and a Chellish expat. Her mother was a devout follower of Shelyn, and she taught her daughters to love the arts as a way to express their faith. Prismara and her sister were taught how to sing, and how to dance ballet, and the two of them took to it with particular skill and interest. The young Prismara was so talented in fact, that at the young age of 16 she auditioned to join the troupe at the Marbledome in Korvosa. Her training there was physical, conditioning herself to be limber and graceful to dance, but also how to win the hearts of the audience with her songs. Her residency at the Marbledome was going very well, having impressed the directors with her aptitude. It so happened, that special performance was scheduled especially for the newly crowned Queen of Korvosa, Ileosa Arabasti. Prismara was given a solo during the performance that wowed not only the crowd but caught the eye of the Queen... though it was not admiration that moved the Queen. It was jealously at her grace and beauty. Hatred. What happened next was a series of unfortunate events that sort of mesh together in her mind. Prismara was abducted after her show and carted off to the deep and secret chambers beneath the city of Korvosa. There she was inspected like a beast at auction, deemed fit enough and beautiful for what came next. Physical torture and mental manipulations, magical and otherwise. They were brainwashing her, all a part of the process of creating a new sworn Sister of the Gray Maidens. Prismara's sense of identity was all but stripped away, and her disassociation became so bad that she considered the helmeted reflection of her armor to be her true face. The Gray Maidens trained her to be a warrior, but also to be a terror to those who dared to defy the Queens laws. She became cruel, efficient at killing, and undyingly loyal to the Queen. Then under mysterious circumstances, the Queen died. The Gray Maidens were disbanded, and it became time to pick up the pieces. A group called the Scarlet Rose, which was a group composed of former Sisters and others such as worshipers of Shelyn began collecting these forlorn Maidens and tried to rehabilitate them. Prismara was brought in by this group and began her deprogramming... which was a hard fought battle. Her mind was fraught with trouble, that her mental barriers became prime real estate for Outsiders such as a Yithians to take advantage of. Dark dreams of her walking in alien cities, memories that were not her own. These were mingled with brutal flashbacks of the atrocities that she partook in her duties as a Sister of the Gray Maidens. Still the Scarlet Rose helped her get a grip on her life, and she took to traveling the world as a means to distance herself from Korvosa, and of Varisia, and most of all to distance herself from places that could trigger her flashbacks. Hmm... kind of like a bit much, I think. Being a former undead kind of throws a wrench into some aspects of pre-amnesia plotline that I have in mind. I think being a former antipaladin while still human still works just fine.
