Name: Friar Bertram Bellows
Age: 22 (about 19 in human equivalency) but looks and acts much older
Class: Life Cleric
Race: Stout Halfling
Background: Healer/Alchemist
Personality: Homebody. Loves the simple things in life, good food, good ale, good company, and most of all, comfort! Was mostly raised by his grandmother, who acted like "a mother hen" to the whole town, and this attitude has rubbed off on Bertram.

Backstory: The Bellows clan originally came from a fully Halfling community, this was way back when Granny Bellows was a young slip of a girl. They seem to be a curious off-shoot of the regular Stout-Halfling clans. They all share the same trait, which is that even the youngest among them look wizened and ancient while still being as spray as any other Stout of the same age. Bertram's parents were minor traders who would make the long trading runs to other towns and cities, spendingthe vast majority of time on the road, so Bertram and his older brother moved in with their recently widowed grandmother. Granny Bellows taught them to be kind and to enjoy the simple things in life. She also helped them find their vocations in life. The eldest, Barnard, was apprenticed to, and ended up buying out, the owner of the town's general store, while Bertram chose to serve the community in the All-Faiths Chapel, predominantly at the Shrine of Hearth and Home.
Appearance: Like most of his clan Bertram looks prematurely aged. Already balding on top, with grey/white hair and wrinkled skin, his love of food has not gone unnoticed by his waistline. He dresses simply in plain robes and a smile is never far from his face, or a twinkle from his eye.

NPC's
Granny Bellows: Many in town know this beloved matriarch for the love in her heart for the ill and the infirm, this is where Bertram gets it from. Currently too infirm from old age to help people now. Bertram has taken that burden on himself.

Barnard Bellows: Proprietor of the town's main general goods store, Barnard believes in being financially stable above all else, in stark contrast to Bertram. The two of them butt heads often, mostly over their differing ideologies, but they do love each other.

Pietr Gaspode: The ratcatchers apprentice, delights in his job because he can be mean to tiny things that can't fight back, just like he did to Bertram when they were children. Granny caught him doing it, and that was the only time that Bertram can remember her being mad! He never touched Bertram again after that, but has delighted in torturing animals (not just rats) in and around places that he knows that Bertram will be, knowing that this will upset the tender hearted Halfling to no end. Pietr is the closest thing that Bertram has to an enemy.

Dr Vaalta: Yuki's master is increasingly jealous of Bertram (see below).

Character Link:
Lerissa the Garrulous:
Bertram's grandmother, Estrissa, used to visit Lerrisa's mother (Jhessail) often, to make sure she was eating, and to keep her company. Bertram would often accompany his grandma on these visits, eventually coming in her stead when she became too infirm to leave the house much (two summers ago). Bertram keeps looking for a way to cure Jhessail or her condition, but suspects that it is far beyond his skills, for now...
Bertram frequently chats to Lerissa about her mother's well being, and enjoys chatting about anything else the witty Tiefling wants to talk about.

Bew/Rinchen:
He first met Bew after she'd run away from the monastery. She was cold, hungry (or so he assumed, he knew that he'd be hungry in the same situation), and he knew that there was a nasty storm on the way. She was also clearly angry at her guardian, and needed some time to calm down, so he asked if she was "peckish" and that his granny was cooking up her famous "cold weather stew" and there would be too much for the household, as usual. So she stayed, met Granny Bellows, got told that she was "too skinny" and needed "fattening up" by Granny Bellows, then ate stew, swapped stories and fell asleep in front of the fire with the rest of the Bellows clan while the storm raged outside.
By the following morning, the storm had calmed, and so had Bew. Granny Bellows gave her a big hug before she left and made her promise to "come back and see Old Granny" anytime she had to get away from home. She's been back a few times since then, each time she does she normally comes back a couple of days later with a basketful of vegetables from the monastery, a present from a grateful Rabten to the Bellows clan for providing a safe place for his wayward ward to calm down.

Lumin:
Whenever Lumin is down on his luck, he goes to stay with Granny Bellows, who always keeps an open house, and a full larder! Bertram wants to help Lumin control his power so he doesn't inadvertently hurt anyone, or himself. He once healed Lumin after his own magic injured him. Bertram has tried to teach him some of the control methods that helped him tap into the power of the Divine, but the sources of power seem to be too different for this to be any use.

Yuki Awaitori:
These two have taught each other so much! Yuki sought out Bertram to ask him some questions about life energy, in order to help himself in his studies to create healing potions, and offered his knowledge of alchemy in exchange. The two would meet up often for study sessions (Bertram would bring snacks!) This has gained Bertram the ire of Doctor Vaalta, who has become increasingly jealous that anybody outside of himself has taught his prize pupil anything of worth, not to mention that the Doctor has to Labour for hours in laboratory conditions to what Bertram can do (or exceed) in moments, merely by asking his God nicely.

Tulin Fairfield:
Bertram is a nodding acquaintance of Tulin, he's tried engaging the quiet and reserved half-orc in conversation, and has put Turin's lack of enthusiasm for such talks as him living up to his reputation for being quiet and reserved. Bertram gives Turin all the respect due to a fellow cleric, but has found Tulin looking at him oddly on a couple of occasions.

Rivezran Tobiadoreus:
Granny Bellows was bringing her famous baking to the hard-working clerks and civil servants of Taro Town long before Rivezran came to town, a tradition that Bertram has kept up since Granny became housebound. He knows that Rivezran and Lerissa are friends, but little more than that.

Wuuni:
Physical opposites, but practically family. Granny Bellows could always tell when people had been in any way neglected, so she always made a special fuss of Wunni, and Bertram would take one of her "care baskets" full of food and other treats down to the forge at least a couple of times a month after she chased Pietr off one time while he was trying to torment Bertram. Bertram has also healed some of the burns she has taken from the forge.

Jack Fletcher:
Mostly knows Jack through his brother Barnard's store, and through the grumblings of various parents after they suspect him of being too friendly with their daughters! Bertram knows Jack is a good chap at heart and doesn't mean any harm with his silver tongue.

Ander Rallins:
Bertram knows Ander as a man who has chosen to defend the town, with his own life if necessary. Bertram finds that admirable, but suspects that he will be seeing Anders in his own role as healer at a future date.

Annabelle Rocksong:
Has heard her practicing music with Lerissa when he brought a tray of Granny's sandwiches one time. Yuki brought her round to see him for healing for their burns after one of his more fiery experiments went awry, and didn't want to take her back to his laboratory and risking his master finding out.

Orryn Timbers:
As an apprentice Smith, he's usually there when Bertram brings food to the forge. Knowing his sweet-tooth, he always brings some of Granny's sugar cookies.

Name: Tulin Fairfield
Age: 19 years old
Class: Cleric
Race: Half Orc, Half Human (more accurately 1/8th Orc on his Father's side)
Background: Essentially an Acolyte from the PHB; Curate's assists the priests in performing maintenance on the Chapel area, set up for the various worship services, and provide basic assistance during said servicesCurate

Personality: Friendly, shy, and somewhat reserved; Tulin has grown accustomed to the daily structure afforded to him as one of the cloth. Comfortable in most religious settings, Tulin exudes openness and approachability; having performed in most, if not all services offered to the various gods of Taro. He has a wit, and sense of humor about him, but due to his sheltered existence, is not comfortable expressing those sides of himself to any other than those he has grown closest to...Only the priests he aides on a daily basis know how sharp his mind truly is.

Backstory: Tulin's father Medek is a merchant, plying his wares in the family store, as his father had, and his father's father before him. It was expected that Tulin was to continue on this path, providing wares, and a friendly conversation to the denizens of Taro. And, it is no secret that his change in vocation has caused a divide between the young man's father, and the Priesthood. Tulin's mother Tara was born a farmer's daughter; strong both in will, and muscle, she was highly prized for her beauty. And indeed, it took much wooing to convince her to pair with Medek rather than the many other suitors she had. Some say that the only glue that held them together was the small fortune Medek earned from his shop, others say it was the unexpected birth of Tulin, though in truth there is a love there between the two, and her loyalty to her husband is absolute. Tulin was born with with a very special defect, which immediately drew the attention of the priesthood. On the boy's tenth birthday he was taken from his parents to the church, to be given an education, and in exchange, pledge his services for no less than 20 years

Appearance: Tulin keeps his thick curls short at the front of his face, away from his eyes, so that he may properly see and assist the various priests of Taro. Allowing it to grow thick and long in the back, falling just behind his ears to his shoulders. Tulin was born with Heterochromia, a true wonder, and something that pointed him out as marked for service to Deity. One eye is Brown and muddy, typical of those of an Orcish descent, while the other is a sparkling blue, reminiscent of a clear warm summer's sky. Tulin's tusks are almost nonexistent, having been bred almost entirely out of him. He does still have slightly larger teeth, and the squared jaw that belies his paternal lineage. Lastly, he has a sachet of fragrance worn about his neck. His thick skin matching so well the colour of the leather string used to fasten it, that it is nearly invisible.

Three NPCs:
One of the several Priests of the Chapel at Taro, Soren Deveau has spent the entirety of his past 35 years in service. This Human has a very soft, and warm, heart; and has never made issue of Tulin's heritage, as some other priests have. Tulin views this man almost as an adoptive father, something that if it came out, would break the heart of his real one.Pater Soren
Tulin's Father, This man has a legacy in the town of Taro as one of the premiere merchants. Wealthy, and proud of it, Medek feels a strong connection to his fore-bearers. Having gone so far as to commission an artist from afar to come to Taro, and paint a large mural of the family lineage; resplendent with gold filigree, rich blacks, and fine greens Medek Fairfield
Quinton James Cederic Malory, Esquire. Just the pompousness of the name alone draws ire from the young Cleric. Another family of old money, one would be right in assuming the Malory's and the Fairfields view each other with resentment bred from generations of competition. Quinn views himself superior to Tulin, as not only is his blood free from any contamination (the Orc blood flowing through the Fairfield line) he is poised to take over from his father, succeeding him in their many logging, and forestry related businesses. As Tulin is in no position to take over from his father for another 11 years, Quinn feels that he has won yet another point over Tulin, in an endless scorecard of veiled insults, and implied advantages.Quinn Malory

Character Links:
Tulin has had a crush on the young Tiefling, as do almost all the other young boys of Taro, for many years. Her cheery disposition, and obvious good looks, have sunken the claws of desire deeply into his heart. While he has been highly educated in the ways of the world, Tulin's education has been sorely lacking in the aspects of courting, and women. So all the young priest knows is to sit, enraptured by her performances, and drowning his lusts in his honeyed wine. Lerissa the Garrulous
Tulin is ashamed to admit he is intimidated by the Bugbear. She is gruff, strong, has a temper, and completely leaves Tulin at a loss with how to best approach her. Due to this fear, he has had no real interaction with her.Wuuni
Tulin is very wary of the young dwarf; having been warned of her many indiscretions by his seniors. As Tulin has difficulty deviating from what he has been so strictly taught, his disposition towards her is distant, yet not outright hostile. Everyone deserves a friend after all, and as he knows from his father "Given enough polish, ANY stone can shine."Annabelle Rocksong
Tulin is fascinated by this Kenku; not only in the exoticism of his race, but of the exotic potions and cure-alls peddled by the good doctor and her assistant. Indeed, Tulin feels that the two share a certain bond of calling, both assistants to those that deal with injury. One healing the physical, while the other attended to the more spiritual, but both hoping to provide a certain wholeness to their clienteleYuki Awaitori
Tulin has heard the stories of Ander's miracle retold throughout the Chapel many times. It is a great gift to be used by the Gods, one that he hopes will eventually be bestowed upon him too. The two have never really spent any real amounts of time with each other however, both being actively engaged in their respective training Ander Rallins
Tulin has been kept away from the Tabaxi, as there were worries that one might have hurt the other if their energies were to clash. Due to this distance Tulin has no real impressions on the Monk.Ray of Light (Ray)
Tulin treats Friar Bellows with utmost respect, given that the boy? man? Tulin didn't exactly know What? Was another Cleric of the Town. This is entirely a professional courtesy, as Tulin does not trust the Halfing, though he does not know why. Friar Bertram Bellows
Tulin likes Trevor, or at least what he thinks he knows of the young man. He seems quiet, and calm, a nice contrast to the storm of activity that was the bustling town. On top of this oasis of serenity, Trevor is training to be a Guild Artisan, something his Merchant father taught him to appreciate. Trevor Silverwind
Tulin is actually not aware of Bew's existence, either from usually being preoccupied with his duties, or the fact that she is constantly changing her physical appearance, making it impossible for him to remember when they have met. Bew Rinchen
Rivezran keeps much to himself, which is one's right. It makes it hard for Tulin to get a handle on the man, though he seems to know very interesting things, both about the populace, and their habits.Rivezran Tobiadoreus
Tulin is quite fond of Arjhan, he being the only other half-species that the young Cleric knows. Their families have had a symbiotic relationship for years, and Tulin enjoys both Arjhan's zest for adventure, and their in depth talks regarding theology and philosophyArjhan Fireborn
Tulin has not interacted with "The Child from the Stars". He is curious about her claims, and finds her rather cute. That being said; she works for the Malory's, and he has responsibilities. One can't go off indulging every curiosity...no matter how much he might want to, could he?Kerri Evenwood
Tulin knows Jack by Name only, though he could probably guess him from a crowd if he was lucky. If he learned of Jack's flirtation with Lerissa however, he could spin out into jealousy rather spectacularly; as unfortunately Tulin has no idea how to handle women, or his feelings towards the TieflingJack Fletcher
Tulin does not like this young man, finding his lack of control dangerous. On top of this, it seems the young man has a distaste for hard work, which rubs the studious cleric the wrong way. Tulin is open to the idea he may be wrong about his assumptions, but he is not in any rush to actually find out for himself.Lumin

As home brew would a Gnoll N/PC be accepted, or is that like... Nah?
I’ve a preference for beast races, and never have had the chance to play as a Gnoll.

If not, I can go with a Tabaxi. Lemme know! ;D

Name: Trevor Silverwind
Age: 17
Class: Monk (Eventual Way of Four Elements)
Race: Human (Variant)
Background: Apprentice artist (PHB Guild Artisan)

Personality: Trevor is a quiet individual with a sharp mind. He is always observing the world around him, gathering in information. He's a good listener who doesn't judge people for their problems or worries. He's a peaceful sort who doesn't like to resort to violence, but certainly won't stand there and let others get hurt. When violence is initiated, Trevor becomes a fearsome foe, protective of allies and unafraid to do what is needed. People think of Trevor as a coward, but that isn't true in the slightest. He has a quiet courage and confidence, willing to stand up to those who bully others or put himself between his allies and harm. But because tries to talk his way out of a fight first and isn't willing to jump to attacking instantly, people call him a coward. It doesn't bother him what people say about him, he has a seemingly unending supply of patience and calm. Trevor is an artist at heart and is always seeing the beauty and good in everything, even when it doesn't exist. A positive person over all. Trevor is quite the eloquent talker, when he has the chance to think carefully about what he speaks. Otherwise he tends to be awkward and gets tongue tied easily. Being an artist, Trevor doesn't find anything sexual about nudity, bodies are beautiful and should be documented as beautiful. He has very little modesty because of this, and tends to forget that most people don't think the same way.

Backstory: Trevor was born in a creative family. His mother, Lucina is a jewelry maker, his father Alexander is a potter. He was always encouraged to do whatever he wanted creatively. His parents are always supportive of him, no matter what path he chooses. They didn't even bat an eye when he came out to them four years ago, just accepted him for who he was. They were slightly less supportive of his choice to tattoo his arms and join an order of monks, but still they didn't stop him from going down the path he thought was right for him.

He took to drawing and painting early on. He was only six when a newcomer came to town and set up a shop on market days. The newcomer was an older gentleman named Jian, and he was an artist. Trevor took a liking to the shop instantly and was always going in to talk to the man and show his own drawings to him. The man saw some sort of potential in Trevor, because it was shortly after this started that he was offered an apprenticeship.

Trevor was apprenticed to the man for two years learning the art of, well, art. It was then that Trevor was introduced to the next stage of his training, martial arts. At first he was reluctant, because he didn't want to hurt anybody, but Jian explained to him that the martial arts wasn't about hurting people, it was about people able to protect the people he cared about. After some time, Trevor took a liking to the martial arts, seeing the creative side of it. There was a synergy between his martial arts and painting training, each improved the other with it's unique form of creativity.

Just a year ago Jian shared some information with him. Jian was a member of the Painted Fist, a group of monks known for their mastery of combat and the arts. They were masters of the elements and tended to stay neutral during conflicts, instead offering their aid to the innocent townsfolk who got caught in the middle. He had been training Jian as a member of the order, but in order to move on to the next part of his training, Trevor would have to become a true member of the order. After explaining what that entailed, they parted ways briefly. Trevor's training being put on hold while he made his choice. Trevor returned a week later. Really it had only taken him a couple days to make his choice, the rest of the time was designing the tattoos. A member of the Painted Fist was identified by the tattoos they bore on each arm, from elbow to fingertip. Each one was a unique design created by the individual. Jian tattooed him with some sort of special ink, the properties of which would be revealed in time. Then it was time for the next stage of his training to begin. It was time for him to start learning how to use his Ki, so that one day he would be ready to begin learning the elements themselves.

Appearance: Trevor stands at about 5' 8" and weighs about 150lbs of lean muscle. He has dark brown hair that is styled in an undercut, the top he keeps long and tied back as to not get in the way. His eyes are a warm brown color but are usually hidden behind a pair of round glasses. His clothing style can be described as simple and comfortable, he wears basic, loose fitting clothes that are usually paint splotched and a few basic pieces of jewelry. His mocha colored skin is smooth and mostly free from permanent blemishes. He usually has a few bruises on his frame though from his martial training. From elbow to fingertip he sports perfectly symmetrical, geometric, tattoos done with white ink. These he designed himself and were done by his master as part of his training.

Three NPCs: A monk of the order of the Painted Fist and Trevor's teacher of the arts, martial and otherwise. An older man with mostly gray hair and a stern face. A painter with an old fashion style and a love of landscapes. Specializes water elemental techniques.Master Jian
Trevor's mother and a master jeweler who likes to show people the beauty in semi precious stones. She very rarely uses gemstones in her work. A petite, light skinned, woman with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Is always encouraging her son to find his passion and constantly teases him about his inability to function as a human being around his crush.Lucina Silverwind
Trevor's father and a skilled potter. His favorite creations are the ones that people can use every single day. Likes to create things that are both practical and nice to look at. A dark skinned man with black hair, brown eyes, and an ever present smile. A giant, teddy bear of a man with one of those contagious laughs. Can always bring the mood of a room up just by being present. A constant source of encouragement to all, not just his son.Alexander Silverwind

Character Link: Trevor has a MASSIVE crush on Tulin, and though he's pretty sure the Cleric doesn't return the feelings, can't help himself. He has no idea how to act around Tulin, becoming completely awkward and tongue tied. He's lucky if he can get out a full sentence where all the words are in the right order, if he can even speak at all. He has several pages in his sketchbook dedicated to the Half-Orc. Even if he gets incredibly awkward around Tulin, Trevor will still go out of his way to go by the church and at least try to strike up a conversation and has even worked up the courage to gift him a few drawings. His family teases him about asking Tulin to pose nude for a portrait, but Trevor is too shy to ask. And would probably die if Tulin agreed to it.Tulin Fairfield
Trevor finds Jack to be an inspiration and a friend. The way the Half-Elf can talk to anybody with ease, especially those he finds attractive, is something that Trevor wishes he could do. Sure the boy flirts a lot, but that's just who he is. Jack is one of the few people whom Trevor has told about his crush on Tulin in hopes of getting some advice from the charmer. He enjoys having conversations with Jack about their different opinions on many topics.Jack Fletcher
Ray is Trevor's adopted brother. After being abandon by his clan, Trevor's parents took in their son's new friend as their own. They grew up as brothers and are just as close as biological brothers. When neither is dedicated to their training, they're often seen together. Like all brothers they butt heads sometimes, but always have each other's backs. They like to spar together and test their respective monk styles out.Ray Silverwind
Arjhan and Trevor are exploration buddies. They often adventure outside of town together in search of quiet and interesting locations. When they're found, Trevor will either work on a landscape painting or do some training of his own, while Arjhan will practice his magic. Trevor finds his magic to be incredibly interesting, especially since he will one day practice his own form of magic through the teachings of the Painted Fist.Arjhan Fireborn
Lerissa is both a romantic rival and business partner. The Tiefling wanted to earn some extra coin by modeling for Trevor, which the artist accepted on impulse. It was a very lucrative deal for both. Lerissa is a very popular figure and the paintings of her don't even last a full day at the shop before being snatched up. He's had quite a few people begging him for nude pieces of her, but she has made her position on this very clear. Though Trevor disagrees with her view on nude paintings, he respects it and has not once brought it up since they first discussed the modeling job. Having gotten to know her through long hours of working together, she's become much less of a romantic rival and more of a friend.Lerissa

Question for you Mechaniacal,

InfamousDasher and I are kicking around a couple of ideas and wanted to make sure they would even be allowed.

1. Changelings, Shifters, Lizardmen, and Firbolgs - they all cool with you?
2. Unearthed Arcana 60 - Monk: Way of the Astral Self
3. Unearthed Arcana 63 - Wizard: Onomancy

Our idea is InfamousDasher would play a changeling monk whose astral self is the ideal form of her that fights her body dysmorphia, and my guy is the town census taker who has made friends with her due to her enjoying pranking him and messing with his numbers by taking on different forms and personas. Race undecided on mine so far, but if you feel it wouldn't affect our odds much, I think I'd like to go changeling as well.

A fascinating contrast of one characters intrigue with the physical attributes of other people, and another enthralled by onamastic history and flavor. These ideas just kind of fell into our lap and we fell in love super quick lol.

I'll probably do feedback in the next day or so for applications that appear to be done -- or mostly done at least.

I had to look up what Onomancy even was, but all of those things are fine.

Howdy!

Mostly common, as in most settings.

As for non-common languages... Elvish, Dwarvish, Draconic, and Goblin are probably the most common. Goblins and Kobolds are more numerous than you might expect in Taro Town. There's representation for just about any language you can think of, but those are probably the most common.

As a side note: The top three rarest languages spoken in Taro Town are, in order of least to most spoken: Deep Speech, Abyssal, and Primordial

Bew
left-aligned image

Name: Bew (pronounced as "Boo")
Monk Name: Rinchen (assigned to her by the monastery upon her arrival. Only used by the monastery)
Age: 16
Class: Monk (Way of the Astral Self)
Race: Changeling
Background: Monastic pupil (Acolyte custom)
Personality: Happy go lucky almost all of the time. She is all to happy to meet new people and hopefully make quick friends with everyone. Bew is constantly studying physical features of those she meets in case they have something that she likes more than what she already has.

Backstory: Given to the Taro Town monastery as an infant, Bew spent all of her adolescent life in the small mountain shrine. Her master, Rabten, gave her a new name Rinchen when she was old enough to start her training. As the years flew by, Bew found it harder and harder to stay focused on her training. She could hear a group of children from Taro playing and laughing, and she wanted to join them. And she did. Frequently. Bew would run off in the middle of her studies, running off into the town to join in on the fun. Rabten let the girl have her way, most of the time. Occasionally he would try to track her down, only being successful a couple times due to her changeling nature.

She wasn’t miserable there by any means, Bew just wanted to be a normal kid. The changeling truly enjoyed the quiet life at the monastery: the gardens were her favorite. Rabten and a few other monks taught her how to tend to the plant life, which she happily did. The gardens provided a healthy distraction for her inner (or outer) troubles.

As she continued to grow, she struggled with herself. Bew never felt quite right in her skin. Sure she could change into anyone she had met, change little features of her appearance. But nothing ever stuck, nothing ever seemed right. Whenever she made her trips to the town she would study the people there, trying to find what it was she felt was missing. Anything from hair to foot size was her prey. Slowly she started working on the puzzle that was her figure, but Bew was never happy. Despite this missing piece, Bew was outwardly always happy.

Appearance: She typically likes to stay true to her changeling form, but always alters little aspects such as her eye shape or even the length of her fingers; more often than not she is never really happy with her appearance and always looking for new things she likes better. Paper white skin, hair, and eyes, she is an easy contrast to any shadows.

Three NPCS:
- Rabten, her Monastic Master. He does his best to keep the changeling focused on her studies, but mostly his days consist of a massive game of hide-n-seek with Bew.
- Raere, a dwarven girl that became fast friends with Bew as children, and continued to be close as they grew up. Rae now holds a business within the Artisan Guild where Bew picks up supplies for painting when ever she has extra stipend.
- Jonathan, a fellow monastic pupil. He has excelled in his studies compared to Bew, but as children he was inclined to follow the changeling into the town for games with other children.
Character Links:
- Nym: She loves to mess with his records, often taking the form of a resident (or even making one up) he is visiting and providing incorrect information.

- Lerissa: When I was a kid and ran away more from the monastery, Lerissa was in the group of kids I would join in with. As we grew up, I had to study more and she started working, and we kind of...drifted apart. I miss her. Maybe I can try to see about setting times to actually stay in the town more without having to run away. I've always adored Lerissa's slender form...I wonder if that's the direction I should go...
- Wuuni: Acquaintances threw growing up around each other in Taro, I liked to paint Wuuni's claws every now and then when she was feeling up to it~ I never really understood why some of the other children feared her, she was and is always so sweet to everyone. Her appearance never bothered me. Raere always spoke highly of Wuuni's talents in the smithy.
- Annabelle: I love her hair! She's so feisty. I would be so exhausted with the amount of fights she gets into.
- Yuki: I adore Yuki. He's so cute and so happy to go fine plants that he needs for whatever he's working on. I love his white feathers! We made a trip just a short ways out of town once to find a rare flower. I feel bad though...I think Yuki was on guard thinking I was going to prank him.
- Ander: I've had little to no interaction with Ander...maybe because of all of his training. It looks so tough! I'm proud of him though. Keep up the good work! I've always like his blonde hair, it's so bright and cheerful!
- Ray: I haven't spoken to him a whole lot, really only on an acquaintance basis. He seems alright enough.
- Friar Bertram: The first time that I encountered the Friar during one of the several times I had run away from the monastery, this time it was out of anger (of what at this point, I have no idea). I had had been playing with some of the children and lost track of time and the shifting weather, regardless, there was no intention to return home to the shrine. I was trying to seek cover and Friar Bertram found me, and offered an invitation back to his grandmother's house for shelter from the storm and a warm meal. All too happy, I was probably a little too quick to agree and followed him to their humble household. I was absolutely delighted in their company for the evening, soaking up the attention Granny Bellows was bestowing upon me. By time morning rolled around I couldn't remember why I was angry. Instead, that anger had been replaced with a lighthearted feeling as I made my way back to the monastery. In repayment for their kindness, Master Rabten sent me back to the Bellows's with a basket laden with vegetables.
- Tulin: His eyes are amazing! I didn't know it was possible to have 2 different colors. Maybe I should try that?
- Trevor: A fellow painter monk! His arm tattoos are beautifully designed and intricate. I haven't met him directly, but I have seen some of his paintings when I'm picking up my supplies from Raere at the guild.
- Arjhan: I haven't really spoken to Arjhan, but I am fascinated by his fiery appearance. I mean, how could you not be?
- Jack: I don't really quite know what to think of Jack. I've seen him flirting with several girls around town and causing some mild trouble. But he does have a charming smile and nice nose. I did, however, play a prank on him that was probably a little mean, but it was very funny at the time. I hope he doesn't hold any ill will against me.

- Dacian:
- Cadmun: As far as I can tell, he's a workaholic, just like Rivezran! He's easy to prank...though I'm not sure if he knows they are pranks. All I really have to do is go through the library and move books around. Usually all I do is turn the books around so the binding isn't facing outwards.
- Lumin: Pretty sure he is fairly new to Taro. I haven't had the opportunity to meet him just yet, but I do know that he worked with Rivezran for a brief period.
- Orryn:
- Gavryn:
- Nevi: I think she's beautiful! Her dresses are always so pretty, and she is so pleasant to be around. Just watching her move about the shop she works in is like a graceful dance with her jewelry and dresses~

Guardians of Taro Town Joint Application: Rivezran Tobiadoreus - Nym
left-aligned image
Name: Rivezran Tobiadoreus
Actual Name: Nym
Race: Human
Actual Race: Changeling
Age: 19
Class: Wizard (School of Onomancy)
Background: Enumerator (Sage/Guild Artisan Custom Background)
Personality: Rivezran is a calm, calculated being that values quiet and privacy. He presents himself as composed, reasonably considerate, and takes reasonable effort to be polite. While others might find joy in more energetic, traditional endeavors, he instead finds himself captivated by data and statistics, favoring such topics as etymology and onomastics.
Trait 1: Calligraphilia - "You can tell a lot about a person by their penmanship." I don't know how true that is, but I am enthralled by exemplary handwriting, and meticulous about my own.
Trait 2: Structured - A strict schedule, a tidy appearance, sensible storage - these simple principles help keep me functioning at my best.
Ideal: Growth - Through cataloging all living beings, we just might be able to learn how to optimally coexist.
Bond: Precarious Ally, Bew - Bound by secret and solidarity, it is in Rivezran's best interest to maintain a positive connection with his friend.

Backstory: Nym wouldn't arrive in Taros Town until about 3 years ago as a newly "created" transplant at the age of 16. His scholarly curiosity was well nurtured by his parents and changeling community, pushing his intellect and arcane discipline to the test - but a sort of emptiness remained, despite the healthy home. Nym craved the sights of actual people - not just imitations - to study and explore, rather than the companionship of those who just wear their faces like outfits. What made their societies flourish? What traditions did they hold dear? How would one grievously offend them if not careful? What was it like to be a singular entity, with truly defining parameters? Could a shifter such as himself ever know what that was like? Only time would tell, but he was reasonably certain in order to make it so, he would need a dedicated lifestyle. Thus, Rivezran was born well before he first stepped foot upon the lush green of Taros - the ideal place to find out all of those answers and more. A melting pot of races, classes, and creeds, this slice of paradise provided abundant samples of many of the known beings throughout the multiverse - all in one convenient location. Nym couldn't ask for a better place to call his home.

Unlike Bew, Rivezran keeps his changeling nature a closely guarded secret, and his real name even closer. She is the only being in town to know either of those personal elements, and in truth he worries about these details needlessly spreading. Nym understands that to know someone's name is to have power over them, and he prefers to remain in control. This means that when Nym does choose to use his changeling abilities, it must be for an exceptional reason. Unlike many of his kind, the casual transformation doesn't provide the same comfort as having the familiar life he has been working on maintaining.

Despite not wishing others to possess such intimate knowledge about himself, he both took a vested interest and made for a prime candidate as the local enumerator, happily documenting and organizing the variety of people from all walks of life that make his village.

Appearance: In his birth form, Nym stands at 5'8", weighs 123 pounds, and possesses pale white skin of the faintest grey tint. His hair is a darker shade of grey, with paper white eyes. In his preferred form, Rivezran maintains his height and appears about 20 pounds heavier, marking him as a rather thin human man. His hair is kept short and practical, and as black as the ink in his quill, with eyes colored like rain clouds on a gloomy sunless afternoon. He often let his face darken just so with tightly lined facial hair, never letting it get to a length deemed unprofessional, if he kept it at all.

Character Application WIP
right-aligned image

Name: Arjhan Fireborn
Age: 17
Class: Sorceror
Race: Half-Elf Eladrin
Background: Fledgling Scholar, Explorer

Backstory: Arjhan grew up with his half-elven mother Adeline in Taro. The result of a pregnancy by a visitor to the town and his mother who gave birth 9 months after the stranger who had wooed her left. He had a happy childhood for the most part even though his looks did not resemble much those of his mother. She was a local seamstress and worked hard to earn a living for Arjhan and herself. It wasn't until Arjhan reached puberty that his true differences started to shine through. That was when his innate magical abilities began to manifest.

Arjhan had always been a bright boy, but upon learning of the magic in his blood, he began to devour books, learning all he could, about sorcery. When he wasn't reading he was traipsing around Taro looking into all the remote places in the area a natural curiosity and urge to explore. Ever since he has worked to control his abilities and hone them, while working in the local library to help raise money to support himself and his mother.

Three NPCs:
Adeline: His half-elven mother. She is afriendly and outgoing woman who has never stopped hoping his father might return.

Brackus: Is one of Arjhan'ss oldest friends he is a human who Arjhan goes off on his adventures around town with. Brackus is more brutish than Arjhan and the two make a good team. Arjhan first met Brackus when they were very young and another boy was picking on Arjhan.

Seyla: Seyla is Arjhan's cousin daughter of his mothers half-sister. Seyla has always been a kind girl she is a few years younger than Arjhan and he has always looked out for her, and helped her with her own studies.

Appearance:
Arjhan upon learning and gaining a grasp of his magic, has altered his appearance to an extent. His naturally reddish blond hair often seems to have flames dancing in it, and his Amber eyes appear almost as if they were hot coals from a fire. He is average height for his kind and has a lithe semi muscular build having never truly focused on the physical aspect of things more interested in books.

Personality: Arjhans personality is much like his appearance he is outgoing and eager to meet new people. he is quick to make friends and slow to forget those who wrong him. he can sometimes have a hot temper as well when angered or someone does something to one of his friends his is quick to jump to their defense.
