The mayor seems surprised for a moment, but then he smiles. He eyes the axe, but he seems appreciative, rather than intimidated. "Ah, but I never assumed that was the case. I merely heard a voice speaking in the giant tongue -not even your voice, I note- and so called for an interpreter. Even if all of our guests should speak other languages, you might well prefer to use your own." He lets his gaze travel across the garden again, taking in the rest of his "guests". His tone changes noticeably as he switches gears into a prepared speech.
"Welcome all of you and thank you for answering my call. Since we are to share our surroundings for the foreseeable future, I hope we can be friends, or, failing that, at least allies.
"We elves are struggling against hunger and the threat of attack from multiple fronts, so we have little to give you, but if you protect this area, we will support you in turn where we are able and should you aid us in other endeavours ,you will not find us ungrateful."

As he speaks, the robed elf with the messy hair and the gauntlet hand wanders dreamily up to Riadon and speaks quietly to him in draconic. "Ah, you must be of the serpentfolk, yes?" (Faranath can overhear. The rest of you cannot.) He offers his huge hand, realises what he's doing, awkwardly transfers his book between arms and attempts to shake hands with him.
Before his question can be answered, he's already been distracted by the dragon. "Beautiful!.....I never thought I would see such creatures."

The priestess hangs back behind the mayor, rather less keen to approach any of you.

Fanarath lifts his snout into the air and releases a small plume of miasma from his nose in Fragrush's general direction. "So you can cleave through butter with an Axe, but you are unable to lift a simple chest? Some cyclops you are." Laying down on his chest, he crosses his front claws over one another, then turns his gaze to the robed elf and speaks in draconic. "I can see one of you at least appreciates something deserving of attention." Gesturing over toward the priestess by tilting his head, Fanarath asks in a conversational tone, "So tell me then of that elf woman, and yourself. Your mayor has forgotten his introductions, and having been invited here its only natural we start with you."

[Thorne]

Azamina walks forward and bows.
"I don't know how much help I'll be. The forest that was my home was recently destroyed, and most of my power with it. In truth, you will be helping me as well, perhaps I by helping you and your forest flourish I can create a new connection with nature."
She gazes happily at the nature around her.

Riadon hefts his backpack up on his back, takes a look around, and mutters something incoherent to himself. This is presumably something horribly demeaning towards the guests around him, and they should be deeply offended.
"Um... yes, that is correct, sir. I do hope we didn't make you wait long..."

[Caput]

Faranath- After a brief pause, the mayor seems to be continuing. Your not sure if he understood you, but either you've reminded him, or he was about to do the introductions after all, and he's just a bit slow. He doesn't seem very good at this public speaking thing, considering his job.

Azamina- Ellired smiles at you and seems about to respond, but then he goes on addressing the whole garden.

Everyone- The mayor continues: "As I have said in the the message, I am Ellired. These are Ynda, the High Priestess of our goddess, Ulmarrin, and Orriniel, our Grand Mage. I'm sorry to say you will find all of our offices somewhat lessened by the trials our people have endured, but even so, they are the highest our people recognise."
There's another slightly awkward pause.
"Now, who exactly is it that I welcome into our homelands?"

Faranath and Riadon- The Grand Mage quietly introduces himself while the mayor talks. He seems very amused to be called sir. He certainly doesn't look like one, so this may be the first time it's happened. "I'm Orriniel. I'm a wizard. It was me who summoned you all- with a lot of help, of course. That's not the sort of thing I can normally do. The lady is Ynda. She's a friendly sort, just a little intimidated, I think. Very excited to meet you." He attempts to shake hands with Faranath.

Ynda seems to be extremely worried, as though waiting for the mage to be murdered.

EDIT: Azamina needs a bluff check now. Everybody else can sense motive, if they want.

Fanarath ignores the gesture from the elf turning his attention back to the mayor. He stands up on top of the chest and announces confidently in elvish. "I am Fanarath the Umbral Dragon. I answered your call and agree to the terms you have set." His tone, for those that can understand it, is steady and blunt like a judge making a ruling.

[Caput]

Orriniel doesn't seem bothered by Faranath turning away. After all, the mayor is talking.

Ellired responds. "Greetings, Faranath."

Deciding to ignore the dragon for now, and possibly murder him in his sleep later, the cyclops "Fragrush, avatar of the cyclopean gods." It wasn't strictly true, but close enough. His single 'horn' at the top of his head was practically no more than a bump now, but it sure sounded impressive.

"But struggling from hunger? I don't like that." Fragursh added, more quietly after his introduction. Cyclops were hungry creatures, himself included. He even had a magic ring that kept the edge off the hunger - but he still needed to eat more than a human. Or, more than a human did. One regular-sized human a day was actually more than he would actually need.

[Caput]

The mayor nods in acknowledgement. "Greetings to you too, Frag...rush? I am unacquainted with your gods, but I will be interested to learn more of them shortly. I can assure you, we don't wish to be hungry either, but perhaps together we can change that."

[Admin RonarsCorruption]

"I am sure you will learn their names, Ellired." Fragrush states with a disturbing finality.

[Thorne]

"My name is Mina. I hope that we can all work together to defend our new home." She seems really happy, bordering on giddy, gazing around at the scenery with wide eyes.
"This place is so pretty." she coos softly, almost to herself.

[Caput]

"I do not doubt it, Fragrush." It's unclear if Ellired has picked up on the cyclops' implication. He smiles at "Mina" "Thank you. Sadly it's not at it's best. It might not be long before the whole thing is torn up for vegetables."

[Admin RonarsCorruption]

"Vegetables are food for things that are food." Fragrush steps out of the vegetable patch, towards the mayor. "are we done with pleasantries yet? You didn't summon us just so you could discuss how nice your city is."

Fanarath blows a bit of miasma into the air from his nostrials, then spits words like venom at Fragrush. "Only a simpleton would forget that if the food has no food, then it itself can not be food. Although considering who I am talking to its a wonder I waste my breath." Turning his head back to the mayor, he speaks calmly and slightly reserved. Any traces of distaste gone from his draconic face. "Pity your spell did not stay select to beings with more sense, or at least a sense of propriety. Although I suppose the beast is right. You did not contract me for no reason."

[Caput]

The mayor looks rather worried by Faranath's aggression towards the cyclops. "There most certainly are things we ought to be doing, yes. The village is under threat from nearby goblins, who we do not have the manpower to attack, what little farmland we had has been overcome by magical vegetation, the beasts of the sea have begun to attack the land, our hunters are in constant danger from magical beasts and another wandering monstrosity could arrive at any time. If things continue as they are, well, we will die.
"Before we address those problems, however, I suggest we familiarise each of you with the town and find the most appropriate places for you to stay. If you would follow me, I can give you a brief tour, or, if you'd rather, we can go straight to sitting around a table and discussing our plans.
"Orriniel, would you tell the servants to see to the chests? I should think the vault is the best place for now."
