"Ah, I see. Foolishness. My father is Eisenblutten, yes, but he had the sense to marry into a Gryzevlakten family, and learn our traditions. Witness me, and my service to Gryzevlakt's gods. You see..." Claudia paused, and then said, "I happen to know that Lord Brecht has asked the von Griefs personally to rally to his cause. I doubt that he would ask our aid and then act against us. However, I can certainly imagine the Empire paying off some fools to attack the von Griefs, in an effort to falsely besmirch Lord Brecht's name and encourage us to take their part."

Aria remain stoic as Claudia addressed the men her face unchanged as her eyes focused on the more vocal of the two. As he makes his venomous retort she whipped around to stand behind the one that had yet to speak.
She looked to Claudia. "My Lady, these men are obviously set in their ways, it is pointless to argue politics and lineage, we are here to extract information not convince them of a change in heart." Claudia's question hung in the air for a second and as the man looks to no doubt spit another insult she speaks harshly, her lips slightly turned in distaste. "You will hold you're tongue warmonger, before I take it from you. " Her eyes fall to the back of the other mans head as she stands above them, not very tall herself she is only a head more in height of his seated form. "You boy will answer the Lady's question. Did your orders come from Brecht himself?" Her gaze flickered to the distasteful one, if he interfered she would have them separated. Last edited by TristineEndelwood; Oct 23rd, 2012 at 02:29 PM. |

Claudia frowned at Aria. "A word, if you please?" she said, rather sharply.

The thus far silent captive murmurs, “No… we acted on our own initiative, we thought the peasants would turn against a duke of full Eisenblutten descent…”

Claudia turned back, dismissing the other woman for the time being. "And why would you do that?" she asked in ringing tones. "Lord Brecht is no fool. If he seeks to win in his cause he will need to ally with many of those of Eisenblutten descent. Or did you think that he would accept no such men into his ranks and cast them out of the nation?" Her voice was dripping with sarcasm. "Your fathers will have sworn oaths to my father; if not to him, than to those of his lords who bent the knee to him. You owe him your allegiance. Lest the world become full of uprisers and oathbreakers, and peace should never be found in road or on land for any son or daughter of the realm. You are naught but upstart bandits, intent on making a war that will already be bitter for our people worse. And I assure you that whoever came to rule this duchy - be it Brecht or the Imperials - your heads would have been on pikes for the murder done upon a noble house. Or did you think Brecht would approve the murder of his kinsmen? Kinsmen he sought to sway to his cause? If you had succeeded in harming our family, this duchy would have been leaderless, rudderless, and easy prey for whomever first reached it."
"So, I ask you again... who was it that championed your foolishness? Who encouraged you in this folly?"

There is a hacking cough from the bed of the injured rebel, “It was Duke Atrios, the Gryzevlakten Duke who rules the province south of here who gave us the order, he is marching here now to take the province over.” he wheezes.
“What are you doing!?” shouts the rebel Claudia was interrogating. “We have been betrayed… the Lady Claudia wields the power of the crone,” the former leader of the group replies weakly, “My lady allow us-” “Just you Marcus! We will not betray our master!” the other retorts. “allow me to repay the debt I owe you and the Gryzevlakten people.”
