iwood (has anyone told you that your handle conjures images of an Apple Store sex toy?) it seems you were correct.

Heheh, I have been using the handle for years, as my email and such. It is short for my fathers side business (woodworking), with the i being the first letter of my last name. I used to work for him as a teenager, and it stuck. But I have heard it.

At least I'm not the only one.

It seems that he recent java versions don't work with the MapTools program. I've messed around with that yesterday before figuring out the issue which will require downloading an older version. So, post will be incoming today but the map may be made in MS Paint.

Also, spellcasting underwater requires a concentration check as listed in the previously linked "underwater combat" section if the character does not breathe water. Since Bharash remained on the reef he doesn't have to make that check, seeing as how his head is above water. Morgan would not be so fortunate at present.

Oh, hey, look at that. A new thread. That's what I get for working solely off subscriptions. Hold on.

And we will consider you at full breath, giving Thomas his constitution in rounds before he has to make checks. The monsters are tough enough as it is.

Aerandor: Shame about the swim check. You have a piercing weapon and everything. Just one thing standing between you and a full (4!!!) points of damage. I jest...Kev is a very important part of the team.
Also, everyone who leaves the reef to engage the creatures can get to them even if their swim check fails. The check only determines if they can surface. Making the check means you reach the surface and suck in a breath (assuming you aren't grappled by lobster wrestlers), resetting your clock for drowning. A failed check just means you go a round without breathing and that clock ticks down one. In game post coming when I get to work, likely around 9 or so.

That worked out better than I expected anyway, I thought for sure Morgan was going to be lost to the briny deep. Of course, nothing is stopping the creature from going after Kev next...
I never really designed Kev to be a high damage dealer, he's much better at trickery and social situations. A lot of his damage output in the foreseeable future will be reliant on sneak attack damage and (most likely) poison, but even that will be curbed somewhat by his multiclassing. |

There are also some nice spells to supplement that kind of damage style. Divination even has a few that jump to mind.

Hey, update here, sorry guys, I think I've been off for a week, maybe more. Good news first. I've been feeling tons better lately, and my creativity is improving comparatively. Bad news, I've been getting a bit busier in other areas, thus why I haven't had alot of time to get on RPGX, and haven't remembered to do so those times I did have.
Gonna try to do better, and catch up with everything, but if anyone would like to give me a brief summary of what's going on, that'd be awesome. Something about catching crabs on a reef and underwater spellcasting?

Our ship's duty for the day required Morgan, Kev, Thomas, and Bharash to go collect crabs from the reef. When we got there and had gotten what we needed, Morgan and Thomas were suddenly dragged under the water by two reefclaws. Kev followed in pursuit after the one that grabbed Morgan, while Bharash cast Bless. At the moment Morgan just got free of a reefclaw, thanks to Kev distracting it, and she's now standing comfortably on the shallow reef. Kev is trying to reach the reef as well, though due to his height he still has to swim even while over the reef. He's going to try to act the part of the dashing gentlemen for Morgan and keep himself between her and the reefclaw chasing them this round, so that Morgan can safely get a spell off. Meanwhile, Thomas appears to be heading over to help Kev, leaving the second reefclaw to Bharash to fight on his own.
