@Goldmyr, I believe that I'll have to buy a mount, given that the gunslinger's kit by itself puts me beyond my encumberance (Skones will have to do some strength training). Per the race description, ratfolk use giant rats as mounts (dire rats with giant template). How much would you say I should pay for one? Such a rule is escaping me

If you're looking to get the +3 class skill bonus, you'll need to swap a trait. Your gulch gunner archetype trades away ride as a class skill.

The description says, "A ratfolk with the animal companion, mount, or similar class feature can select a riding rat as her mount." It sounds like it's pretty flexible in what it will take to allow it, but I wasn't 100% sure what would qualify.
