Alright, wind has something like four minutes before anyone else is likely to be on the scene, right? I'll work on stalling tactics in the meantime.

The first real map for an encounter always takes me awhile, to get everything sorted in my head, and then down on the map. Ask me if anything confuses you.

And I'll let Emeria stand up with an acrobatics as a free action, sounds good to me.

It's combat, and I really only gave you the choice of "tie up the prisoner" or "run to other side of town" anyway .

So let me get a better idea about Keythr's situation.

Kethyr sees a sandskimmer heading away from town towards their direction being sped up by some sort of caster. From his experience, how well can sandskimmers manuever?

If its being sped by wind magic, its turning capabilities must be limited. Does Kethyr know how sturdy a sandskimmer would be if the raiders tried to suddenly turn it. (Don't want to cause a rollover now.)

Just fyi... hehe way to put on the pressure.

The first encounter was designed to be easy (killing things wise) but hopefully fun and intense.

Skimmers usually have good manueverability, especially if the crew is skilled, but yes at high speeds this is cut down. Kethyr didn't see what happened to the earlier skimmer that Wind attacked, but it is easy to flip the boat if one isn't careful (such as when everyone is bailing out or being eaten alive by tiny spiders).

I'm not really looking for anything mechanics wise here, just something you think you could do. It might not be possible to completely stop the skimmer (and then if you did, there's a bunch of raiders and what may be a high level caster with them) but you could damage it and slow it down.

If you think of something that might work, post it and we'll see what happens . Otherwise it looks like you're all going to have to rely on Emeria's tracking abilities to find their base...once you're sure the town is safe from anymore raiders tonight of course.

I must admit as the storyteller and DM I did make it so at least one boatload got away...incase you lot decided you didn't want to do what you were paid for and take out the base .

Was in the middle of posting when my computer finished doing a patch and rebooted my computer. When it came back online, of the three pages that reloaded the one I was typing in would not load. Thanks Windows Update!!! So color me annoyed and I will post tonight when I get home from work.

If memory serves me right. There were 2 sandskimmers that we intercepted. The one that wind burned down and the one we wrecked closer to the town.

There were 2 other sandskimmer that I am aware of. The one that got away and one that just sped out of the city and is heading on a collision course with Kethyr and Ama.

There may be 1 or 2 more still in town, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

So far you have seen 4 skimmers.

2 in the initial attack, 1 burnt by Wind and the other destroyed by Ama.

2 on the other side of town, one which had already left and Kethyr+Ama tried to chase after, but failed. The other is the one that Cheveyo saw speed off and is currently heading straight towards the Dragoon.

Just going to flat out say there's no more, for reasons you will find out soon .

In other news working out exactly what happens is going to be more than a bit challenging, but damned if it isn't cool. However I am dead tired, so I'm going to do it in the morning.

EDIT: I'm probably going to roll a skill check to try and avoid the bullcharge, or at least minimise the effect. But sorry to say Kethyr is probably going to slam into the sand pretty hard.

Just to let everyone know that next week I will be working looooong hours so my posting will be spotty Monday - Thursday.... well, more spotty then they are at the moment. Dang you 'Mass Effect 2'!

After I read your post and noticed your characters acrobatics roll Eviltedzies I had this sudden image of Kethyr jumping too soon and landing in front of the sandskimmer only to look up with bulging anime eye's as he gets ran over. Hopefully this does not come to pass but just had to share.

Lol well hes jumping off almost right as Amarah makes impact with the skimmer so at worst I figured hed land smack dab in the middle of the skimmer.

That and hitting the sand won't be so bad if Kethyr can at least spear the sails. =p
